Book Jesus Surprising Strategy

Download or read book Jesus Surprising Strategy written by and published by . This book was released on 2013-06-15 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You?re likely familiar with Jesus? prayer that His followers would be one. Less well-known is how strategic and timely this prayer is as well as how instructional the prayer is about the kind of unity Jesus is praying for. Combine Jesus? prayer with the apostle Paul?s citywide analogy, and you have a gift that provides powerful direction for how the body of Christ is supposed to operate in every city?direction that could provide the very societal transformation we so desperately seek and need. Unity for any group requires work and intentionality. Building on Jesus? prayer and Paul?s analogy, Jesus? Surprising Strategy examines five levels of unity, each building on the previous one, and each providing a practical, biblical means for the roles you can play to fulfill Jesus? prayer in our day, in your relationships, and in your city. It concludes with a case study of how this is beginning to be realized in Tucson, Arizona. David Drum encourages, instructs, and reveals his personal journey toward seeing Christian unity as a mandate worthy of your very best effort.

Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others. Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Scott shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward—away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes. In Jesus Outside the Lines, you will experience a fresh perspective of Jesus, who will not (and should not) fit into the sides.

This book was released on 2016-10-12 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christ's Strategy to Transform Nations is a comprehensive look at the Biblical best practices that over history have proven to transform nations for good. Dr. Mark Beliles, Ph.D., draws from his 30 years of studying Christian thought and actions in many nations. He has personally visited over 50 nations as well. His research led him to a startling find: Never has prayer, church growth and revival been enough to significantly transform a nation. He discovered that the missing element is found in Christ's Great Commission to "disciple the nations." When Christians have intentionally focused on not only training leaders for the church itself but also the nation, eventually the culture is changed. The Pilgrims who settled America and the Founding Fathers shared in this commitment and they founded the most transformed nation in history. But today most of it is lost. Business as usual for the modern church is not working. We must return to the historically-proven practices that transforms culture. Following the signs that Christ said would follow them, the book presents 3 major practices for 5 different areas of life. Rich with historical examples, and modern testimonies, the reader comes away not just inspired, but prepared to begin developing a long-term strategic plan for his own community.

First examining the “architecture” of the Bible, he suggests the basic approach to, and expectation of what is to be gained by the study of Scriptures. He then makes clear how a certain fitness for delineating the spiritual truths of the Bible may be acquired - and so he leads the reader to understand the structure of the Bible as a whole. In the second part of his book, Dr. Baxter points to the two dispensations defined in John 1:17 and offers stimulating comparisons between the Old and New Testaments. Further chapters lead toward a clear understanding of the Kingdom of Heaven, the Church, and the entire New Testament. By the age of 22 Katie had adopted 14 girls and founded Amizima Ministries which currently has sponsors for over 600 children and a feeding program for Uganda's poorest citizens - so it is no wonder she feels Jesus wrecked her life, shattered it to pieces, and put it back together making it more beautiful than it was before.

Book God s Strategy in Human History

Download or read book God s Strategy in Human History written by Paul Marston and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2001-07-01 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Forster and Marston have delivered a stellar book that attempts to present an exegetical and Scriptural framework for the content presented in the book. Instead of beginning from a set of deductive theological assumptions and then attempting to support that system from Scripture, Forster and Marston examine Scripture and attempt to build their case directly from the text. The authors unabashedly admit that their views are very similar to those of Arminian and Weslyan traditions, but they state in the beginning of the book that they do not want to be labeled with these names, but want to construct a theology that is in line with the teachings of the first 300 years of Christianity. Anyone who reads their appendix will come to understand that the teachings presented in this book were the orthodox consensus of the early Church for the first 300 years, and that it was Augustine who introduced serious deviations into the mainstream orthodox Christianity of his time. Forster and Marston begin by describing the battle that is being waged between God and the spiritual forces that oppose Him. They examine the book of Job and see how this relates to the overall struggle. Then the authors examine the 9th chapter of Romans to see if this book is dealing with election and individual destinies, or God's actions within human history. The authors do an excellent job of arguing for their opinion that this chapter is speaking about God's involvement in human history and it deals with God's choosing of one nation or individual over another nation or individual to accomplish His purpose. Other sections of interest in this book are the sections on foreknowledge and predestination and the chapters on faith and works. The section on faith and works was particularly interesting because it relies on much of the teaching of the new perspective which has shed much light on how a 1st century Palestinian Jew would have approached Scriptural issues. The research, argumenation, and exegesis in this book are solid so every chapter is excellent, but the ones mentioned above were two of my favorites."--Amazon.com.
