Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether the issue of the day on Twitter, Facebook, or cable news is our sexuality, political divides, or the perceived conflict between faith and science, today’s media pushes each one of us into a frustrating clash between two opposing sides. Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others. Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Scott shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward—away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes. In Jesus Outside the Lines, you will experience a fresh perspective of Jesus, who will not (and should not) fit into the sides.

Download or read book Jesus Outside the Box written by Mark Townsend and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2010-08 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus Outside the Box is a re-released, re-titled version of the author's previous book The Magician's Tale. It a short book of twelve incredible stories written from the perspective of some of the lesser known characters of the New Testament. Each story offers an exciting and radical new portrait of the one we call The Christ. The author's intention was to present a picture of Jesus, without the 2,000 of Christian doctrine and dogma that have put him some great ecclesiastical box (and suffocated him the process). The Jesus of these tales has broken free from that box of Churchianity and will help readers do the same. This Jesus is human yet magical, gentle yet dangerous, distrustful of religion, yet unconditionally loving. He is exciting beyond our dreams. You may just discover that you'd thrown the divine baby out with the holy water.

Book Evangelism Outside the Box

Download or read book Evangelism Outside the Box written by Rick Richardson and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2009-10-25 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It used to be that providing clear evidence for the resurrection of Jesus or the reliability of the Bible was a pretty effective way to reach people with the Good News. But today, many folks think all truth is relative, even our historical and scientific data about Christianity. So how can we reach them? We need new ways of telling people the old, old story. We need to look again at our usual mental habits if we want to reach people who have a brand new mindset of their own. We need to get outside the box of ideas and practices that are sacred to us but are not sacred to God. That's what Rick Richardson's book is all about. Here are fresh perspectives on relying on the Holy Spirit, awakening spiritual interest in others, appealing to what they value (instead of what we think they should value) and leading them into a transforming experience with God. Also included is Richardson's Circles of Belonging, a new, straightforward presentation of the message of Jesus (yes, it can even be sketched out on a napkin!) that is true to Scripture and true to the new way people live and think. As an experienced evangelist and leader of evangelism programs, Richardson offers in this helpful book the principles and practices that will help us all grow in love for--and communicate effectively with--people who need Jesus.

This book examines fourteen such vibrant Christian movements which operated outside the box. Each chapter ends with a practical section highlighting those factors that made the particular group successful. They were all missional movements that pursued a Christian vision and developed structures to facilitate it. In contrast, the traditional organizations from which they emerged tended to do mission from an established, given structure. Here are seriously committed movements that offer a dynamic challenge to our contemporary churches.

  • Publisher : Xulon Press
  • Release : 2008-10
  • ISBN : 1607910365

Download or read book A Message to the Overcomer written by Rosita Dozier and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A Message to the Overcomer" is a collection of messages originally written for a weekly e-mail ministry. The intent of each message is to encourage Christians to experience a deeper life in Christ. Each message offers a practical approach to overcoming life's issues. The book has six categories and they include principles to live by, Christian living, old and new, salvation and exhortation. The first category is the introduction and it gives the reader a scriptural reference for the overcoming message. The purpose of the book is to share with the body of Christ the practical application of God's word. As they apply the word in their lives they will begin experiencing the overcoming life. My desire is to see God's people grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray God will open up the eyes of your understanding as you enter into the world of the overcomer. Rosita Dozier's life changed August 7, 1981 when she gave her life to Christ. That event set her life on a path of studying and learning all that she could about God and his son the Lord Jesus Christ. The first six years were set aside for intensive spiritual training, which included learning how to pray, how to study the scripture, outreach, teaching and full time ministry. The overall focus of the training was to overcome the world, the flesh and the devil. Thus living the overcoming life is more than a concept to Rosita, it is a way of life. Teaching women is her top priority, and she has conducted bible studies for over twenty years. She's written articles for church newsletters, helped pastors put oral messages into print and edited several books. She writes often and looks forward to writing many more books to the glory of God.

Download or read book Cold Case Christianity written by J. Warner Wallace and published by David C Cook. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

Book Jesus Psychology and Mental Health

Download or read book Jesus Psychology and Mental Health written by George Hinn and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2023-01-10 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It is manifestly evident that religion is not always led to mental health." I remember reading this statement from the book, The Psychology of Christian Personality by Ernest Ligon in the early 1960s. I was struck by it, because as a child growing up, I was told just the opposite.Subsequent empirical evidence has shown that Ligon was correct, but why? Religion is supposed to change people. Where was the disconnect? Does religion change people, or maybe do people change religion? In various ways, this statement has been a source of direction and study for me over my forty plus years in teaching and counseling. This book explores these questions and possible answers in light of mental health and the integration of Psychology and Religion.

Book A Redneck s Guide to Jesus Outside the Box

Download or read book A Redneck s Guide to Jesus Outside the Box written by Jeff Todd and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-02-22 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus? Who was He? And why do people still talk about Him after 2000 years? For many of us, we know of Jesus because of the movies that come out around Christmas and Easter time. We know about His birth - ya know, something about being born in a manger wearing 'waddled-up' clothes. Then, there's a little something about some wise men giving Him some cool gifts that included gold and some other stuff that we really don't know what it was. Maybe it was some off-brand cologne? And then after Jesus grows up to be a man, we know that a bunch of folks didn't like Him and decide to have Him hung on a cross. And then He dies and heads up to Heaven. The end, right? Wrong. Everything we need to know about Jesus is found in the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These books of the Bible tell us about His birth and why it was so awesome. It tells us of why He came to Earth and what His mission statement was for all of humanity. It also tells us why we should follow Him and the benefits for doing it. It's a serious deal! In this book, we explain the Gospels from all four sides - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Just like all of our other stuff in A Redneck's Guide series, we keep it simple. We hope you are blessed by reading it!
