Book Tassels of Blue

Download or read book Tassels of Blue written by Norma Williams Lasch and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Author of this Book of Poetry was born and raised in rural Stephentown, in Upstate New York, with four older sisters, and a younger brother. As a country girl, Norma was always interested in Reading and Writing and being Outdoors with Nature. Her love of Poetry is reflected in this inspiring, and often humorous collection, spanning over five decades, where she shares some of her hopes, dreams and sorrows, giving the Lord Jesus Christ all the Glory. As a young Mother she was touched by the Holy Spirit when her children were required, with her help, to learn daily Bible verses for the Five Day Club held at their home by a Christian teenager from CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship). The verse she vividly remembers is Luke 19:10: "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost". Shortly after that both she and her husband answered an Altar Call, at their local church, giving their hearts to the Lord. They did not know that the entire Church Body had been praying for their Salvation, as they had been taking their kids to Sunday School, but not attending! The Author's Enjoyment, along with her Eight Grandchildren and her two Living Children, include Bible Study, Crafting, Sewing, Music, Camping and exploring the New England Seashore and the Adirondack Mountains. A married lady of 52 years to a loving husband, this book will culminate her desire for this Collection of Poetry to be finally published. As a Contributing Author of several Anthologies, other Publications include Poetry published in the Barrister Magazine, The County News and Views, The Country Register, the Troy Record, and Quill Books. Norma and her husband Bill worship the Lord at New Hope for Life in the rural Town of Nassau, New York where the Holy Spirit has inspired many of her Poems and Songs of Praise included in this Collection.

Book Jonathan Edwards on Worship

Download or read book Jonathan Edwards on Worship written by Ted Rivera and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-07-01 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The great American pastor-theologian Jonathan Edwards remains undeniably relevant today, more than 250 years after his death, as attested by the unending flurry of articles, books, and dissertations treating him. Despite this, virtually nothing has been written concerning Edwards's views on worship, a subject central to the Christian faith, and certainly to Edwards himself. This volume explores Edwards's perspective on both public and private dimensions of worship, aspects of which rise from well-understood Puritan categories, and proposes the practice of self-examination as a bridge between public and private devotion. As Ken Minkema, of the Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale, writes in the foreword, "Ted Rivera's study is the first that systematically attempts to show us Edwards's views of worship, and so represents an important resource for scholars and religious practitioners alike who are interested in liturgy, 'the practice of piety,' and spiritual growth. Through an engagement with Edwards's own words--in letters, notebooks, and sermons--we learn of Edwards's own spiritual life, and of the nature of private and corporate devotion."

This book was released on 2021-06-02 with total page 2505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charles Haddon Spurgeon was a reformed pastor who adhered to the 1689 Baptist Confession of faith. Spurgeon was a prolific writer and preacher. Spurgeon sometimes preached as often as ten times in a week. The quality, as well as the quantity, of his sermons earned him the nickname "Prince of Preachers." Spurgeon adhered to Calvinist views and supported a conservative approach to biblical interpretation while categorically denying the allegorical method. He opposed all liberal and pragmatic tendencies of the church. Witnesses claim that he delivered powerful sermons that mesmerized listeners with his oratorical prowess. The sermons were unfailing accurate and plumbed the depths of spiritual thought. Spurgeon authored many works, including thousands of sermons, an autobiography, biblical commentaries, a book on prayer, as well as multiple prayers, poems, and hymns. Book Better Than New

    Book Details:
  • Author : Daniel H. Kiser
  • Publisher : Outskirts Press
  • Release : 2014-05-29
  • ISBN : 1478730587
  • Pages : 140 pages

Download or read book Better Than New written by Daniel H. Kiser and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2014-05-29 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It would be wonderful if every Christian could maintain the newness and wholesomeness of his or her salvation experience. But the unfortunate reality is Christians do sin. There may be a number of Josephs and Daniels within the ranks of Christendom who succeed in retaining a sterling character from start to finish. Human experience, however, reveals that the greater part of God’s family consists of people like David, Samson, Jonah, Jacob, and Simon Peter; people who, for one reason or another, lose the enthusiasm, spiritual strength, and sensitivity that once characterized their lives. Spiritual battles, temptations, disappointments, and failures take their toll. Harmful indiscretions cause painful bruising to the soul. Prodigal sons and daughters abound. But in spite of self-inflicted wounds there is good news; there is great news. God’s love and compassion abound even more. His desire is not to discard damaged lives. God’s intention is to restore wayward sons and daughters to their proper place in His family. The Father’s plan is to make them “better than new.” This book explores the process by which the “better than new” condition can be realized.
