Book Jesus and the Manosphere

Download or read book Jesus and the Manosphere written by Paul Treacy and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2023-09-13 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever since the mid-twentieth century, life has generally been better in western nations for the huge majority of the subsequent generations, born thereafter. This, most notably, in terms of better standards of living and healthcare. However, the traditional family unit has also come under great attack, during this same time, with far more divorces, break ups, along with higher rates of single parenthood and loneliness, than ever before, thus creating a domino effect, leading to a whole array of challenging social issues, further down the line. How has this happened? What, if anything, can be done to reverse this tide? The 'manosphere' movement, which regularly comes under huge criticism, seeks to explore these often troubling and complex issues, more often than not, with a 'no holds barred' approach. Numerous bloggers have gained large and growing fanbases from countless men and boys, the entire world over. Is it totally absurd to place much of the blame on modern feminism? Are those involved in the movement, just a bunch of heartless and misogynist thugs? Or are they genuinely concerned men, telling very uncomfortable truths and who, deep down, actually want the best for women, via tough love? And the biggest question of all is - What would Jesus himself, make of all of this?

Book The Toxic War on Masculinity

Download or read book The Toxic War on Masculinity written by Nancy R. Pearcey and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2023-06-27 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Why Can't We Hate Men?" asks a headline in the Washington Post. A trendy hashtag is #KillAllMen. Books are sold titled I Hate Men, The End of Men, and Are Men Necessary? How did the idea arise that masculinity is dangerous and destructive? Bestselling author Nancy Pearcey leads you on a fascinating excursion through American history to discover why the script for masculinity turned toxic--and how to fix it. Pearcey then turns to surprising findings from sociology. Religion is often cast as a cause of domestic abuse. But research shows that authentically committed Christian men test out as the most loving and engaged husbands and fathers. They have the lowest rates of divorce and domestic violence of any group in America. Yes, domestic abuse is an urgent issue, and Pearcey does not mince words in addressing it. But the sociological facts explode the negative stereotypes and show that Christianity has the power to overcome toxic behavior in men and reconcile the sexes--an unexpected finding that has stood up to rigorous empirical testing.

Book Male Supremacism in the United States

Download or read book Male Supremacism in the United States written by Emily K. Carian and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-04-21 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Male Supremacism in the United States is a timely editorial collection providing analysis of current patriarchal, misogynistic, and antifeminist threats in the United States, The book theorizes how male supremacism—the system that disproportionately privileges cis men and subordinates women, trans men, and nonbinary people—and its accompanying ideology of male superiority undergird many of the most crucial phenomena of our time. The book examines how male supremacism manifests in three ways: as patriarchal traditionalism, as secular male supremacism, and in its intersections with other systems of oppression. From anti-abortion activism to misogynist incels to the Proud Boys, the collection illustrates how male supremacism plays a vital role in right-wing recruitment and organizing. The volume’s contributions illuminate unique aspects of male supremacist ideology, practice, and culture. Together, they provide a sweeping overview of the development and deployment of male supremacism in the United States. This book will be of value to anyone studying or researching male supremacism, gender, feminism, women’s studies, hate studies, and the far right.

Book Notes From The Tilt A Whirl

Download or read book Notes From The Tilt A Whirl written by N. D. Wilson and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2013-08-06 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is this World? What kind of place is it? "The round kind. The spinning kind. The moist kind. The inhabited kind. The kind with flamingos (real and artificial). The kind where water in the sky turns into beautifully symmetrical crystal flakes sculpted by artists unable to stop themselves (in both design and quantity). The kind of place with tiny, powerfully jawed mites assigned to the carpets to eat my dead skin as it flakes off. The kind with people who kill and people who love and people who do both... "This world is beautiful but badly broken." "I love it as it is, because it is a story, and it isn't stuck in one place. It is full of conflict and darkness like every good story, a world of surprises and questions to explore. And there's someone behind it; there are uncomfortable answers to the how's and whys and what's. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through Him were all things made... Welcome to His poem. His play. His novel. Let the pages flick your thumbs."

Book Man Out

  • Author : Andrew L. Yarrow
  • Publisher : Brookings Institution Press
  • Release : 2018-09-11
  • ISBN : 0815732759
  • Pages : 340 pages

Download or read book Man Out written by Andrew L. Yarrow and published by Brookings Institution Press. This book was released on 2018-09-11 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of men who are hurting—and hurting America by their absence Man Out describes the millions of men on the sidelines of life in the United States. Many of them have been pushed out of the mainstream because of an economy and society where the odds are stacked against them; others have chosen to be on the outskirts of twenty-first-century America. These men are disconnected from work, personal relationships, family and children, and civic and community life. They may be angry at government, employers, women, and "the system" in general—and millions of them have done time in prison and have cast aside many social norms. Sadly, too many of these men are unsure what it means to be a man in contemporary society. Wives or partners reject them; children are estranged from them; and family, friends, and neighbors are embarrassed by them. Many have disappeared into a netherworld of drugs, alcohol, poor health, loneliness, misogyny, economic insecurity, online gaming, pornography, other off-the-grid corners of the internet, and a fantasy world of starting their own business or even writing the Great American novel. Most of the men described in this book are poorly educated, with low incomes and often with very few prospects for rewarding employment. They are also disproportionately found among millennials, those over 50, and African American men. Increasingly, however, these lost men are discovered even in tony suburbs and throughout the nation. It is a myth that men on the outer corners of society are only lower-middle-class white men dislocated by technology and globalization. Unlike those who primarily blame an unjust economy, government policies, or a culture sanctioning "laziness," Man Out explores the complex interplay between economics and culture. It rejects the politically charged dichotomy of seeing such men as either victims or culprits. These men are hurting, and in turn they are hurting families and hurting America. It is essential to address their problems. Man Out draws on a wide range of data and existing research as well as interviews with several hundred men, women, and a wide variety of economists and other social scientists, social service providers and physicians, and with employers, through a national online survey and in-depth fieldwork in several communities.

Book excerpt: From New York Times bestselling author, feminist pioneer, and cultural icon bell hooks, a timelessly necessary treatise on how patriarchy and toxic masculinity hurts us all, with a new introduction by poet Ross Gay. Feminist writing did not tell us about the deep inner misery of men. Everyone needs to love and be loved—including men. But to know love, men must be able to look at the ways in which patriarchal culture keeps them from understanding themselves. In The Will to Change, bell hooks provides a compassionate guide for men of all ages and identities to understand how to be in touch with their feelings, and how to express versus repress the emotions that are a fundamental part of who we are. With trademark candor and fierce intelligence, hooks addresses the most common concerns of men, such as fear of intimacy and loss of their patriarchal place in society, in new and challenging ways. The Will to Change “creates space for men to acknowledge their traumas and heal—not only for their sake, but for the sake of everyone in their lives” (BuzzFeed).

Book The Pathway Towards Peace U S Human Rights Manifesto

Download or read book The Pathway Towards Peace U S Human Rights Manifesto written by Jánelle Marina Méndez Viera and published by Flourish Under Fire Press. This book was released on 2023-05-10 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In "The Pathway Towards Peace: U.S. Human Rights Manifesto," Jánelle Marina Méndez Viera exposes the American billionaire patriarchy's strategic takeover of democracy and delves into the intersection of two social scientific theories regarding racism thought to be conflicting and synthesizes both concepts into her theory of psychosocial racism and sexism. Through her own experiences as a child-sex slave in the U.S. Marine Corps and through her work leading the Military Sexual Trauma Movement, Méndez Viera as a human rights executive and movement leader, she shines a light on the dark side of the tourism industry and American exports, by relocating to the Dominican Republic to investigate the experiences of enslaved Haitians. She connects modern slavery in the Caribbean to the radicalization of boys and men in the U.S. military and the role mass communication plays in their indoctrination. This powerful manifesto is a compelling account of one woman's resistance and fight for the abolition of modern slavery in the Western Hemisphere. Jánelle Marina Méndez Viera not only exposes the threat to democracy and the junction of racism and sexism in American society, but she also predicts the January 6th Insurrection six weeks before it occurs. On November 11th, 2020, in a speech in Washington D.C. at a press conference she organized called, "Fight for our Freedom", she warns of a looming national security issue involving veterans and Marines. Through her development of the radicalization pipeline model, Méndez Viera is able to accurately predict and assess risks in order protect herself from violent attacks on her life. Méndez Viera uses her extensive knowledge and expertise to guide and educate Americans on how to defend democracy and create lasting peace. Her theory of psychosocial racism, sexism and misogyny posits that these systemic issues are psychological delusions that evolve into social constructs when mass media creates propaganda on behalf of billionaire patriarchy. Loyal audiences usually made up of male involuntary celibates are intentionally recruited on to the radicalization pipeline through google queries that respond to self-help questions such as “how do I get girls to like me or how do I attract women?” The manosphere then places bids on google searches and returns dating gurus like Andrew Tate who indoctrinate men and teen boys through mid-level radicalization by showing them misogynistic content that externalizes their insecurities to make these men and boys hate women and minorities. They become defenders of patriarchy and fight against feminism, civil rights and social justice through coordinated online harassment, threats, physical violence and domestic terrorism. Méndez Viera lays out how to spot the red flags early on and discusses what society can do to create peace and minimize the recruitment into the radicalization pipeline. Méndez Viera analyses the illicit sex markets in the Western Hemisphere compared to legalized and regulated markets around the world. She investigates sexual violence, slavery and prostitution in the Caribbean and its ties to chattel slavery while discussing legalized and regulated markets in Nevada and the Netherlands that have higher levels of protection, safety and workers' rights. These areas have been able to reduce child sexual slavery through the regulated sex markets. Méndez Viera discusses the combining regulation, legalization and psychological therapy for involuntary celibate males can be a powerful tool for preventing recruitment into the radicalization pipeline and thus preventing gender violence, mass violence, modern slavery and domestic terrorism in the United States of America.
