Many of the specific requirements are also covered in tables and specific sections of the Sampling Design Plan (Vol. II), which accompanies this plan (Vol. III). When possible, those sections will be referenced when they apply to the specific QA/QC elements of this plan. This QCP establishes the basis for the overall QA/QC program to be used at JPG. The Work Plans were developed and provided to the U.S. Army Toxic and Hazardous Materials Agency (USATHAMA) under Contract No. DAAA15-90-D-0007, Task Order 0002. Book excerpt: This Addendum to the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) Technical Plan outlines the overall approach and defines the activities required to provide a comprehensive study of previously identified sites at the U.S. Army Jefferson Proving Ground (JPG) in Madison, Indiana. The original Work Plans covering the first 21 sites were developed and provided to the U.S. Army Environmental Center (USAEC) under Contract No. DAAA15-90-D-0007, Task Order 0002. The final Work Plans were submitted in September of 1992. The RI/FS is being performed in support of USAEC under Contract No. DAAA15-90-D-0007, Task Order 0005. A modification to Task Order 0005 was issued, calling for the investigation of an additional 29 sites. Thus, addenda to the final Work Plans were required. The sites to be characterized under these plans generally represent those sites located in the area south of the firing line requiring additional studies to satisfy the requirements of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA 1986); the National Contingency Plan (40 CFR Part 300); and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The RI/FS to be conducted is required to: * Define extent and magnitude of environmental contamination at JPG in the area south of the firing line, * Assess human health and environmental risk associated with contamination at the identified sites at JPG, * Determine needs for remedial action at JPG, and * Develop and evaluate remedial-action alternatives. This report is an Addendum to the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) Technical Plan Volume I.

Book Jefferson Proving Ground South of the Fining Line Final Remedial Investigation Feasibility Study Resource Management Plan

Download or read book Jefferson Proving Ground South of the Fining Line Final Remedial Investigation Feasibility Study Resource Management Plan written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This plan contains a description of the personnel and procedures for managing the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) at the U.S. Army Jefferson Proving Ground (WG) in Madison, Indiana. The RI/FS is being performed to support base closure initiated in April of 1989, when Congress mandated that JPG be closed and its mission realigned with Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona. As a result, the U.S. Army Environmental Center (USAEC) was given the responsibility of conducting the environmental investigation associated with the Base Closure Program. An enhanced Preliminary Assessment (PA) was completed in March 1990, and a follow-up Master Environmental Plan (MEP) was prepared in November 1990. Results of these initial evaluations indicated that additional studies of identified Solid Waste Management Units (SWMUs) and areas requiring environmental evaluation (AREEs) were needed to satisfy the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA 1986). This act requires that a RI/FS be conducted to: 1. Define the extent and magnitude of environmental contamination at JPG; 2 Assess the human health and environmental risk from contamination at JPG; 3. Determine the needs for remedial actions at JPG; and 4. Develop and evaluate the remedial-action alternatives.

Book Cleanup of Chemical and Explosive Munitions

Download or read book Cleanup of Chemical and Explosive Munitions written by Richard Albright and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-07-04 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unexploded military ordnance and toxic chemicals, some dating back to World War I, are a worldwide concern, especially at closed military bases that will be redeveloped for housing or civilian use. In Europe and Asia, many munitions sites are former battlegrounds; in Russia and its former territories, sites are used for storage and waste disposal. Experts estimate that the United States alone could spend between $50 and 250 billion dollars to cleanup these sites, many of which are in high-population density, residential areas. You might live near one such site right now. This book gives detailed instructions for cleaning up military ordnance sites, and lists of explosives, chemical warfare materials and breakdown products that the soil and groundwater must be tested for. Also included are archival studies; remote sensing techniques; geophysical techniques; safety issues; a chemical weapons, explosives and ordnance primer; known and unknown range lists; and a case study of documents written for cleaning up one of the worst examples yet: Spring Valley in the District of Columbia. It disproves myths, common misconceptions and lies, and explains what, how, and where to look for munitions and their residual contamination. * Author is an award winning and world-renowned expert in weapons of mass destruction.* Meets the needs of explosive and ordnance demolition personnel, as well as environmental scientists, insurance agents, and building contractors.* Includes the primary documents written (by the author) for the cleanup of one of the worst sites in the United States (Spring Valley, District of Columbia).* Subject of the book is of worldwide concern with former battlegrounds in Europe and Asia, as well as storage and waste disposal sites in Russia and former Soviet territories.* The only text available with clear and complete instructions on proper cleanup of military ordnance sites including a detailed list of explosives, chemical warfare material and breakdown products.

Book The Criminal Investigation Process A Summary Report

Download or read book The Criminal Investigation Process A Summary Report written by and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The criminal investigation process in municipal and county police departments was studied by survey, interviews and observations, and special data collection. Investigators spend about 7% of their time on activities that lead to solving crimes. Case solutions reflect activities of patrol officers, members of the public, and routine clerical processing more than investigative techniques. Nearly half of investigators' case-related activities are devoted to post-arrest processing; these activities are inadequately responsive to the needs of prosecutors. Collecting physical evidence at crime scenes does not help solve crimes unless evidence processing capabilities are adequate. Policy implications are discussed. (Author).
