Download or read book Methods for Estimation and Inference in Modern Econometrics written by Stanislav Anatolyev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2011-06-07 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers important topics in econometrics. It discusses methods for efficient estimation in models defined by unconditional and conditional moment restrictions, inference in misspecified models, generalized empirical likelihood estimators, and alternative asymptotic approximations. The first chapter provides a general overview of established nonparametric and parametric approaches to estimation and conventional frameworks for statistical inference. The next several chapters focus on the estimation of models based on moment restrictions implied by economic theory. The final chapters cover nonconventional asymptotic tools that lead to improved finite-sample inference.

The series is divergent; therefore we may be able to do something with it. Eric T. Bell O. Heaviside Mathematics is a tool for thought. A highly necessary tool in a world where both feedback and non linearities abound. Similarly, all kinds of parts of mathematics serve as tools for other parts and for other sciences. Applying a simple rewriting rule to the quote on the right above one finds such statements as: 'One service topology has rendered mathematical physics .. .'; 'One service logic has rendered com puter science .. .'; 'One service category theory has rendered mathematics .. .'. All arguably true. And all statements obtainable this way form part of the raison d'etre of this series.
Download or read book Software Engineering Artificial Intelligence Networking and Parallel Distributed Computing written by Roger Lee and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-05-02 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the 10th ACIS International Conference on Software Engineering Artificial Intelligence, Networking and Parallel/Distributed Computing (SNPD rd 2009), held in Daegu, Korea on May 27–29, 2009, the 3 International Workshop st on e-Activity (IWEA 2009) and the 1 International Workshop on Enterprise Architecture Challenges and Responses (WEACR 2009) is to aim at bringing together researchers and scientist, businessmen and entrepreneurs, teachers and students to discuss the numerous fields of computer science, and to share ideas and information in a meaningful way. Our conference officers selected the best 24 papers from those papers accepted for presentation at the conference in order to publish them in this volume. The papers were chosen based on review scores submitted by members of the program committee, and underwent further rounds of rigorous review. In chapter 1, Igor Crk and Chris Gniady propose a network-aware energy m- agement mechanism that provides a low-cost solution that can significantly reduce energy consumption in the entire system while maintaining responsiveness of local interactive workloads. Their dynamic mechanisms reduce the decision delay before the disk is spun-up, reduce the number of erroneous spin-ups in local wo- stations, decrease the network bandwidth, and reduce the energy consumption of individual drives. In chapter 2, Yoshihito Saito and Tokuro Matsuo describe a task allocation mechanism and its performance concerning with software developing. They run simulations and discuss the results in terms of effective strategies of task allocation.

Download or read book Unimodality Convexity and Applications written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1988-08-01 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the basic notions and tools of unimodality as they relate to probability and statistics are presented. In addition, many applications are covered; these include the use of unimodality to obtain monotonicity properties of power functions of multivariate tests, minimum volume confidence regions, and recurrence of symmetric random walks. The diversity of the applications will convince the reader that unimodality and convexity form an important tool in the hands of a researcher in probability and statistics.

Download or read book Dynamical Systems with Applications using MATLAB written by Stephen Lynch and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-22 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook, now in its second edition, provides a broad introduction to both continuous and discrete dynamical systems, the theory of which is motivated by examples from a wide range of disciplines. It emphasizes applications and simulation utilizing MATLAB®, Simulink®, the Image Processing Toolbox® and the Symbolic Math toolbox®, including MuPAD. Features new to the second edition include · sections on series solutions of ordinary differential equations, perturbation methods, normal forms, Gröbner bases, and chaos synchronization; · chapters on image processing and binary oscillator computing; · hundreds of new illustrations, examples, and exercises with solutions; and · over eighty up-to-date MATLAB program files and Simulink model files available online. These files were voted MATLAB Central Pick of the Week in July 2013. The hands-on approach of Dynamical Systems with Applications using MATLAB, Second Edition, has minimal prerequisites, only requiring familiarity with ordinary differential equations. It will appeal to advanced undergraduate and graduate students, applied mathematicians, engineers, and researchers in a broad range of disciplines such as population dynamics, biology, chemistry, computing, economics, nonlinear optics, neural networks, and physics. Praise for the first edition Summing up, it can be said that this text allows the reader to have an easy and quick start to the huge field of dynamical systems theory. MATLAB/SIMULINK facilitate this approach under the aspect of learning by doing. —OR News/Operations Research Spectrum The MATLAB programs are kept as simple as possible and the author's experience has shown that this method of teaching using MATLAB works well with computer laboratory classes of small sizes.... I recommend ‘Dynamical Systems with Applications using MATLAB’ as a good handbook for a diverse readership: graduates and professionals in mathematics, physics, science and engineering. —Mathematica
Download or read book Stationary Sequences and Random Fields written by Murray Rosenblatt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has a dual purpose. One of these is to present material which selec tively will be appropriate for a quarter or semester course in time series analysis and which will cover both the finite parameter and spectral approach. The second object is the presentation of topics of current research interest and some open questions. I mention these now. In particular, there is a discussion in Chapter III of the types of limit theorems that will imply asymptotic nor mality for covariance estimates and smoothings of the periodogram. This dis cussion allows one to get results on the asymptotic distribution of finite para meter estimates that are broader than those usually given in the literature in Chapter IV. A derivation of the asymptotic distribution for spectral (second order) estimates is given under an assumption of strong mixing in Chapter V. A discussion of higher order cumulant spectra and their large sample properties under appropriate moment conditions follows in Chapter VI. Probability density, conditional probability density and regression estimates are considered in Chapter VII under conditions of short range dependence. Chapter VIII deals with a number of topics. At first estimates for the structure function of a large class of non-Gaussian linear processes are constructed. One can determine much more about this structure or transfer function in the non-Gaussian case than one can for Gaussian processes. In particular, one can determine almost all the phase information.
