Book Jasmine and the Old Oak Tree

Download or read book Jasmine and the Old Oak Tree written by Portia McGowan Green and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-08-05 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jasmine is a six year old girl, who loved her back yard. She thought there was no other yard in the whole world like her own. It was a brisk, sunny, Saturday afternoon. The weather was breezy, but beautiful. It was the afternoon, leading into Easter Sunday, 2014. Jas was visiting with her Great Aunt Fluff (GAF). GAF had a quaint little house on the corner in her neighborhood. She had many beautiful flowers and blooming colorful rose bushes. There was also a really odd looking tree in her front yard. The odd thing about this tree was that it seemed to have a face and a mouth that was opened wide! GAF and Jas were sitting on the long front porch, chatting very maturely about lizards, spiders, birds, bees, frogs, snails, ants and other inhabitants of the tree. Jas and GAF got into a long interesting discussion about what insects eat and how they survive and why they need certain materials to build homes and also the many uses trees provide.

Once there was a robin As happy as could be Because she lived up in the branches Of an old oak tree An old oak tree A strong oak tree The happiest oak That you ever did see This musical tale follows a robin as she makes her home in an old oak tree, a tree that shelters her and many other creatures -- from squirrels to foxes to bears! -- from many storms, and for many seasons. Until one night, when a terrible storm comes. When the tree falls, robin and all of the other animals who have relied on the tree must say goodbye. As the season turns from winter back to spring, the tree, now a nurse log, becomes home to a new kind of life. A tender-hearted story gently exploring the cycle of life and death and rebirth, The Old Oak Tree can be read as either a song or a verse story, and features tactile recycled-paper artwork from celebrated artist Angela Doak (My First Book of Canadian Birds) and sheet music for budding musicians who want to play along.

Book Shades of Life

Download or read book Shades of Life written by Linda Faye Beach and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2005-02 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All people hold on to life and hope to find the beauty so often hidden from them. They fail to understand that the beauty they seek surrounds them at all times. Beauty is in all of life, not just the ''happy times'' but what one might consider the ''hard times'' as well. How wonderful to be entitled to live even for a short time and know such feelings as love, hate, joy, sadness, beauty, sorrow, and all the feeing that make us human. This is poetry. Life is a book of poetry. Each day we wake and start a new page and do not understand that we are all poets. We create what we will be. We see beauty in a half dead tree or we cut it down. We talk to God on our level and shake when we hear his name. Choose your life, create your own poetry, find love and beauty in all things. Love while you can.

Book excerpt: ENVISION A LOVELY LIAR Lovely Liars is a story about men, about women, about relationships, about dreams and life in today's modern society. The focus is the life of Jasmine Brown. A woman of intelligence, conviction and courage. A woman born in a small town with big dreams. A woman much like many other women in America in her mid thirties slowly venturing along the crossroads of time bringing to full view the reflection of a female engulfed in past failures, fearful of future successes and searching for the solace that will mend the scars of a broken past. Under the smokescreen of a mid-life crisis, she emerges out of the ashes of yesterday's burnt romances and ignites a new flame of invigorated and renewed hope. In the complexity of the process, she finds the simple vision of her true self. Move with her through the trials, tribulations and triumphs in searching for that storybook perfect male image. Along her fallacy of fantasy, her world is laced with the linings of an often harsh yet profound reality. Looking for a comfort zone within the corridors of masculinity she searches diligently for hope, vision and guidance. Her search is not uncommon for it is shared by the masses of her gender population. Beneath the laughter and the pain, the sorrow and the narrow gain, she uncovers the shadowed mystery of self-love and the gallant glory of self-motivation. Her story will bridge through the hearts of America like loud thunder on a stormy night. Her pain will pierce the skin as quickly as the sharpest knife used by this country's greatest chefs. Her search for the often distant truth yet unveiled shall rivet your soul into a state of motionless drama and surround your very essence. For in an imperfect world, the truth is a mere shadow of total perfection as we all move venomously along the PASSAGE OF LIFE
