Download or read book Women Loving Women written by Jamye Waxman and published by Quiver Books. This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women Loving Women explores the phenomenon of the contemporary "bi-sexual" or "lesbian" experience for the heterosexual woman. However, while women loving women is indeed an emerging trend, it is also an age-old obsession that this book also addresses and places in a historical perspective. The book investigates the reasons modern women are more open to same-sex encounters, how these experiences can connect people and help them grow, and how regardless of one's sexual orientation, there is much to learn here about the nature of love, sex, and physical attraction and its unconscious determinants. In addition, Women Loving Women also responds to how these same-sex encounters are less apt to create conflict in their heterosexual relationships, and actually might spice things up with their male partner (many men fantasize about same-sex women relationships), break the ice with a best friend, or simply add a new dimension to their sexual history. Women Loving Women features sophisticated photographs that will capture the warm and enlightening approach of exploring erotic possibilities with other women, even when you don't identify yourself as a bisexual or lesbian. Testimonials from heterosexual women who have experienced same-sex romantic encounters will be featured throughout. Sidebars will also feature quotations from women-who-have-loved-women throughout history, such as Virginia Woolf, Simone de Beauvoir, Anais Nin, and Eleanor Roosevelt, amongst others. The photographs, shot on location in New Hampshire, tell a story of three beautiful women who leave their boyfriends/husbands behind for a "girls weekend"-and discover a new dimension to their friendship

Book Lady Astronauts Lady Engineers and Naked Ladies

Download or read book Lady Astronauts Lady Engineers and Naked Ladies written by Karin Hilck and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-07-08 with total page 692 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Lady Astronauts, Lady Engineers, and Naked Ladies is a gender history of the American space community and by extension a social history of American society in the twentieth century during the Cold War. In order to expand and differentiate the prevalent postwar narrative about gender relations and cultural structures in the United States, the book analyzes several different groups of women interacting in different social spaces within the space community. It therewith grants insight into the several layers of female participation and agency in the community and the gender and race based obstacles and hurdles the female (prospective) astronauts, scientists, engineers, artists, administrators, writers, hostesses, secretaries, and wives were faced with at NASA and in the space industry. In each chapter a different social space within the space community is analyzed. The spaces where the women lived and worked are researched from a media, individual, and institutional angle, ultimately revealing the differing gender philosophies communicated in the public sphere and the space community workplaces by government and space community officials. While women were publicly encouraged to participate in the American space effort to beat the Soviet Union in the race to the moon, women had to deal with gender based barriers which were integral to the structures of the space community; just as they were an intrinsic component of all societal structures in the United States in the 1960s. The female space workers, who were often perceived as disrupters of the prevalent social order in the space community and discriminated by some of their male colleagues and bosses on a personal basis, still managed to assert themselves. They molded pockets of agency in the space community workspaces without the facilitation of regulations on the part of NASA that might have provided them with easier access or more agency. Thus, the space community, a place of technological innovation, was not necessarily also a place of social innovation, but a community with a government agency at its center that mainly mirrored the current (changing) social order, conventions, and policies in the 1960s as well as in the 1970s and 1980s. Nevertheless, the women presented in this book were instrumental in advancing and consolidating the social transformation that happened within the space community and the United States and therefore make intriguing subjects of research. Thus, this systematic analysis of the connection between gender, space, and the Cold War adds a new dimension to space history as well as expands the discourse in American history about gender relations and the opportunities of women in the twentieth century.

Book Womanist Ethical Rhetoric

Download or read book Womanist Ethical Rhetoric written by Annette D. Madlock and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-01-14 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Womanist thought remains of critical importance given contemporary issues of social justice and advocacy. Womanist Ethical Rhetoric centers discourses of religious rhetoric and its influence on Black women’s aims for voice, empowerment, and social justice in these turbulent times. The chapters utilize womanism, in conjunction with other frames, to examine how Black women incorporate different aspects of their identities into struggles for empowerment and celebrations of who they are in holistic ways that center love and community. This approach embraces both the commonalities and differences between womanists through theoretical and applied contexts. It advances the work of womanist predecessors and pays homage to them, most notably Rev. Dr. Katie Cannon’s work on womanism and religion. Topics analyzed include Black women’s spiritual and professional identities in religious organizations, the role of Black churches in Black Lives Matter, and the inclusion of all Black women in racial academic achievement gaps. Chapters also examine Black women’s leadership and activism, including church leaders and representations in popular culture, and women’s inclusion in the beloved community. This collection centralizes the plurality of Black women’s lives, which is key to advancing their voices.

Book Light Language Emerging Activating Ascension Codes and Integrating Body Soul and Spirit

Download or read book Light Language Emerging Activating Ascension Codes and Integrating Body Soul and Spirit written by Yvonne M. Perry and published by . This book was released on 2014-02-24 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For eons, humans have been locked in a shallow understanding of who we are as spirit beings. While our linear thinking may help us feel safe, it can also limit us from communicating on a deep soul level with our Creator. It is when we bypass human reasoning, if only for a brief moment, that we tap into a realm where we join with something so pure and wonderful that it defies logical explanation. It is these moments that allow us to know that our experiences in those dimensions are more real than our daily lives that greatly ignore the divine aspect of who we are. Light is the language of the soul, which allows us to communicate directly with Source without the interference of the mind, while activating codes to assist with healing and restoration on all levels. Discover the sacred artistic tools of light language for opening DNA strands required for bodily ascension. Learn how to move in sync with Spirit to bring restoration to all creation as you integrate aspects of your multidimensional soul for a unified expression of your highest self. This book includes stories from people who are discovering light language through writing, singing, dancing, signing, and artistic creativity. The author shares her unusual personal experiences to demonstrate how multidimensional aspects of the soul are being incorporated into a unified expression of wholeness. Light Language Emerging helps to bring understanding to a vast, new, and unusual subject: the language of light. When it spontaneously started happening to me many years ago, I had no exposure to it, no one to turn to and no immediate answers. A book like this is not only a catalyst for opening, but it becomes a life line for those having unique experiences as their telepathic communications begin to activate. With Yvonne's book, readers will come to understand their own multi-dimensional nature, their cosmic connection to their galactic family, and their ability to expand beyond limiting perceptions of self and life. Book Chaos in Color

Download or read book Chaos in Color written by R. Layla Salek and published by Greenleaf Book Group. This book was released on 2023-09-19 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From a young age, Layla Salek has experienced some people as colors—her mother brown, her father green, her husband rainbow. As she notes, sometimes, when words fail, colors speak. Chaos in Color is the captivating story of Layla’s journey from childhood to adulthood with a mother who suffered from untreated bipolar disorder. Each chapter paints a vivid, heartbreaking picture of the abuse, neglect, and trauma that she experienced as she grew up at the mercy of her mother’s bipolar swings, an incompetent mental health system, and the strangers with whom she was often left. But dissipating those times of darkness were moments of love, joy, and happiness that she felt while being cared for by others in her life. These moments inspired her to start her own family, complete a doctorate in psychology, and work with children with mental illness and severe behavior disorders. Layla’s story traces how personal and familial trauma is carried into adulthood and how it can be released through forgiveness. This honest, provocative memoir offers a relatable account for others who have experienced similar trauma, as well as hope for healing and a future full of light.

Book Open Deeply

Download or read book Open Deeply written by Kate Loree and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A full one-fifth of the United States has engaged in consensual non-monogamy (CNM) at some point in their lives, and 29 percent of adults under thirty today consider open relationships to be morally acceptable—yet there are few resources to turn to when it comes to navigating this more non-traditional and explorative territory. Picking up where CNM self-help books like Polysecure, The Ethical Slut, and More Than Two leave off, Open Deeply tackles the most difficult challenges posed by CNM. Therapist Kate Loree—who has practiced non-monogamy since 2003, and who specializes in treating clients who also practice non-monogamy—pulls no punches as she uses vignettes based on her own life, as well as her clients’ experiences, to illustrate the highs, lows, and in-betweens of life as a consensual non-monogamist. Interwoven with these stories are thorough explanations of how attachment theory impacts non-monogamy, how blending cutting-edge, neurobiology-informed grounding skills with effective communication skills will make even the most challenging conversations regarding non-monogamy manageable, and more. The result is a compassionate, attachment-focused template for non-monogamy that will allow readers to avoid pitfalls and find adventure while concurrently building healthy relationships. Non-monogamy is a wild and woolly ride—and Open Deeply is here to help make it a great one.
