Jades mind and memories were suppressed by her injuries which made it easier for Devlin and his team to manipulate her mind into creating new memories of being a skilled martial arts assassin with super strength.Devlin never expected his experiment he called Jade to become a rogue assassin who held the key to his future. She was expendable, a means to an end and no one was supposed to get attached, especially his son who he had originally put the task on him to train her. Derek was complicated and she disrupted his efforts to keep the hate in his heart going for the people that stole his life and Jade unknowingly made her way into his heart. When he discovered his father's plans for Jade and his part in all the lies, Derek kept his father's secret while trying to figure out a way to save them both without jeopardizing his father's efforts to help him find his daughter. Derek never knew how dark and sinister his father truly was and was faced with his own demon to fight.She walked away from Dark Horizon, Derek and attempted to have a life that her soul longed for with a family that wasn't hers. But she couldn't get away from her past, from Dark Horizon or that nagging feeling that there was more to her then what she was told and it almost killed everyone she loved.
