Book J venes conocimiento pol tico y participaci n

Download or read book J venes conocimiento pol tico y participaci n written by Marta Fraile Maldonado and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Federico M. Book The Routledge Companion to Migration Communication and Politics

Download or read book The Routledge Companion to Migration Communication and Politics written by Stephen Croucher and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-07 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Companion to Migration, Communication and Politics brings together academics from numerous disciplines to show the legal, political, communicative, theoretical, methodological, and media implications of migration. The collection makes the compelling case that migration does not occur in a vacuum; rather, it is driven by and reacts to various factors, including the political, economic, and cultural worlds in which individuals live. The 25 chapters reveal the complex nature of migration from various angles, not only looking at how policy affects migrants but also how individuals and marginalized groups are impacted by such acts. In Part I contributors examine migration law, debating the role of the state in managing migration flows and investigating existing migration policy. Part II offers theories and methods that integrate communication studies, political science, and law into the study of migration, including cultural fusion theory and Gebserian theory. Part III looks at how contemporary perceptions of migration and migrants intersect with media representations across media outlets worldwide. Finally, Part IV offers case studies that present the intricacies of migration within different cultural, national, and political groups. Migration is the key political, economic, and cultural issue of our time and this companion takes the next step in the debate; namely, the effects of the how, in addition to the how and why. Researchers and students of communication, politics, media, and law will find this an invaluable intervention.

Book Latin American Transnational Children and Youth

Download or read book Latin American Transnational Children and Youth written by Victoria Derr and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-12-29 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Latin American Transnational Children and Youth focuses on understanding young people’s connection to nature and place within a transnational and Latin American context. It serves to diversify, elaborate, and sometimes challenge the assumptions made in researching people and place, and unearths the complexities of a world in which the identity of many is not shaped by a single place or culture, but instead by complex interactions among these. Spanning across ages and geographies, the book explores the central themes of sense of place, identity, and environmental action, with an emphasis on Latinx and Indigenous communities. This book balances theoretical questions with geographically contextual empirical research. Each section is situated in current interdisciplinary research and provides geographically specific examples of children and youth’s perspectives on place relations, migration, transnationalism, and an emerging demographic of environmentalists. Contributors from Latin America and the United States advance the fields of childhood and youth studies, environmental psychology, geography, sociology, planning, and education. This book looks across the Americas, to see how young people experience their worlds and constructively contribute to their places and environments.

Download or read book Ni os y j venes ante las redes y pantallas written by Ma. Amor Pérez Rodríguez and published by Editorial GEDISA. This book was released on 2016-01-15 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Youth Power in Precarious Times

Download or read book Youth Power in Precarious Times written by Melissa Brough and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2020-07-27 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does youth participation hold the potential to change entrenched systems of power and to reshape civic life? In Youth Power in Precarious Times Melissa Brough examines how the city of Medellín, Colombia, offers a model of civic transformation forged in the wake of violence and repression. She responds to a pressing contradiction in the world at large, where youth political participation has become a means of commodifying digital culture amid the ongoing disenfranchisement of youth globally. Brough focuses on how young people's civic participation online and in the streets in Medellín was central to the city's transformation from having the world's highest homicide rates in the early 1990s to being known for its urban renaissance by the 2010s. Seeking to distinguish commercialized digital interactions from genuine political participation, Brough uses Medellín's experiences with youth participation—ranging from digital citizenship initiatives to the voices of community media to the beats of hip-hop culture—to show how young people can be at the forefront of fostering ecologies of artistic and grassroots engagement in order to reshape civic life.

Book Influences of the IEA Civic and Citizenship Education Studies

Download or read book Influences of the IEA Civic and Citizenship Education Studies written by Barbara Malak-Minkiewicz and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-26 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book identifies the multiple ways that IEA’s studies of civic and citizenship education have contributed to national and international educational discourse, research, policymaking, and practice. The IEA International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS), first conducted in 2009, was followed by a second cycle in 2016. The project was linked to the earlier IEA Civic Education Study (CIVED 1999, 2000). IEA’s ICCS remains the only large-scale international study dedicated to formal and informal civic and citizenship education in school. It continues to make substantial contributions to understanding the nature of the acquired civic knowledge, attitudes, and participatory skills. It also discusses in-depth how a wide range of countries prepare their young people for citizenship in changing political, social, and economic circumstances. The next cycle of ICCS is planned for 2022. In this book, more than 20 national representatives and international scholars from Europe, Latin America, Asia, and North America assess how the processes and findings of the 2009 and 2016 cycles of ICCS and CIVED 1999/2000 have been used to improve nations’ understanding of their students’ civic knowledge, beliefs, attitudes, current civic-related behaviors, and intentions for future participation in a comparative context. There are also chapters summarizing the secondary analysis of those studies’ results indicating their usefulness for educational improvement and reflecting on policy issues. The analyses and reflections in this book provide timely insight into international educational discourse, policy, practice, and research in an area of education that is becoming increasingly important for many societies.
