Book Plastics Process Analysis Instrumentation and Control

Download or read book Plastics Process Analysis Instrumentation and Control written by Johannes Karl Fink and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-03-30 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on plastics process analysis, instrumentation for modern manufacturing in the plastics industry. Process analysis is the starting point since plastics processing is different from processing of metals, ceramics, and other materials. Plastics materials show unique behavior in terms of heat transfer, fluid flow, viscoelastic behavior, and a dependence of the previous time, temperature and shear history which determines how the material responds during processing and its end use. Many of the manufacturing processes are continuous or cyclical in nature. The systems are flow systems in which the process variables, such as time, temperature, position, melt and hydraulic pressure, must be controlled to achieve a satisfactory product which is typically specified by critical dimensions and physical properties which vary with the processing conditions. Instrumentation has to be selected so that it survives the harsh manufacturing environment of high pressures, temperatures and shear rates, and yet it has to have a fast response to measure the process dynamics. At many times the measurements have to be in a non-contact mode so as not to disturb the melt or the finished product. Plastics resins are reactive systems. The resins will degrade if the process conditions are not controlled. Analysis of the process allows one to strategize how to minimize degradation and optimize end-use properties.

Book Data Driven Iterative Learning Control for Discrete Time Systems

Download or read book Data Driven Iterative Learning Control for Discrete Time Systems written by Ronghu Chi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-15 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book belongs to the subject of control and systems theory. It studies a novel data-driven framework for the design and analysis of iterative learning control (ILC) for nonlinear discrete-time systems. A series of iterative dynamic linearization methods is discussed firstly to build a linear data mapping with respect of the system’s output and input between two consecutive iterations. On this basis, this work presents a series of data-driven ILC (DDILC) approaches with rigorous analysis. After that, this work also conducts significant extensions to the cases with incomplete data information, specified point tracking, higher order law, system constraint, nonrepetitive uncertainty, and event-triggered strategy to facilitate the real applications. The readers can learn the recent progress on DDILC for complex systems in practical applications. This book is intended for academic scholars, engineers, and graduate students who are interested in learning control, adaptive control, nonlinear systems, and related fields.

Book Fault Tolerant Process Control

Download or read book Fault Tolerant Process Control written by Prashant Mhaskar and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-14 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fault-Tolerant Process Control focuses on the development of general, yet practical, methods for the design of advanced fault-tolerant control systems; these ensure an efficient fault detection and a timely response to enhance fault recovery, prevent faults from propagating or developing into total failures, and reduce the risk of safety hazards. To this end, methods are presented for the design of advanced fault-tolerant control systems for chemical processes which explicitly deal with actuator/controller failures and sensor faults and data losses. Specifically, the book puts forward: · A framework for detection, isolation and diagnosis of actuator and sensor faults for nonlinear systems; · Controller reconfiguration and safe-parking-based fault-handling methodologies; · Integrated-data- and model-based fault-detection and isolation and fault-tolerant control methods; · Methods for handling sensor faults and data losses; and · Methods for monitoring the performance of low-level PID loops. The methodologies proposed employ nonlinear systems analysis, Lyapunov techniques, optimization, statistical methods and hybrid systems theory and are predicated upon the idea of integrating fault-detection, local feedback control, and supervisory control. The applicability and performance of the methods are demonstrated through a number of chemical process examples. Fault-Tolerant Process Control is a valuable resource for academic researchers, industrial practitioners as well as graduate students pursuing research in this area.

Book Run to Run Control in Semiconductor Manufacturing

Download or read book Run to Run Control in Semiconductor Manufacturing written by James Moyne and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Run-to-run (R2R) control is cutting-edge technology that allows modification of a product recipe between machine "runs," thereby minimizing process drift, shift, and variability-and with them, costs. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated in a variety of processes, such as vapor phase epitaxy, lithography, and chemical mechanical planarization. The only barrier to the semiconductor industry's widespread adoption of this highly effective process control is a lack of understanding of the technology. Run to Run Control in Semiconductor Manufacturing overcomes that barrier by offering in-depth analyses of R2R control.

Book Fault Diagnosis Systems

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis Systems written by Rolf Isermann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With increasing demands for efficiency and product quality plus progress in the integration of automatic control systems in high-cost mechatronic and safety-critical processes, the field of supervision (or monitoring), fault detection and fault diagnosis plays an important role. The book gives an introduction into advanced methods of fault detection and diagnosis (FDD). After definitions of important terms, it considers the reliability, availability, safety and systems integrity of technical processes. Then fault-detection methods for single signals without models such as limit and trend checking and with harmonic and stochastic models, such as Fourier analysis, correlation and wavelets are treated. This is followed by fault detection with process models using the relationships between signals such as parameter estimation, parity equations, observers and principal component analysis. The treated fault-diagnosis methods include classification methods from Bayes classification to neural networks with decision trees and inference methods from approximate reasoning with fuzzy logic to hybrid fuzzy-neuro systems. Several practical examples for fault detection and diagnosis of DC motor drives, a centrifugal pump, automotive suspension and tire demonstrate applications.
