Book Section 337 Investigations

Download or read book Section 337 Investigations written by Michael G. McManus and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is designed to show that Section 337 investigations are an underutilized tool that should be in every IP practitioner's toolkit. Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 prohibits unfair competition related to the importation of products into the United States that infringe valid U.S. patents, copyrights, trademarks or embody a misappropriated trade secret. The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) is a federal agency that provides trade expertise to the government and oversees Section 337 investigations and proceedings. This timely handbook offers a guide to the intricacies of Section 337 procedure and demystifies the ITC as a legal venue in an effort to help practitioners select the optimal forum for their clients' cases. Both authors are seasoned attorneys who practice Section 337 litigation before the ITC, U.S. district courts and circuit courts of appeals, bringing a wealth of experience and guidance to the reader.

Book International Classification of Non Tariff Measures 2019

Download or read book International Classification of Non Tariff Measures 2019 written by United Nations and published by United Nations. This book was released on 2019-10-14 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-tariff measures are generally defined as policy measures other than ordinary customs tariffs that can potentially have an economic effect on international trade in goods, changing quantities traded, or prices or both. Since this definition is broad, a detailed classification is of critical importance so as to better identify and distinguish among the various forms of non-tariff measures. The classification of non-tariff measures presented here is a taxonomy of all those measures considered relevant in international trade today. It builds on an old UNCTAD classification known as the Coding System of Trade Control Measures and was developed by several international organizations forming what is called the MAST group (Multi-Agency Support Team) set up to support the Group of Eminent Persons on Non-tariff Barriers established by the Secretary General of UNCTAD in 2006. The MAST team discussed and proposed this classification, and is composed of: FAO, IMF, ITC, OECD, UNCTAD, UNIDO, World Bank and WTO. The classification is seen as evolving and should adapt to the reality of international trade and data collection needs.

Book Joel ITC

  • Author : Christopher R. Seitz
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Release : 2016-03-10
  • ISBN : 0567667758
  • Pages : 304 pages

Download or read book Joel ITC written by Christopher R. Seitz and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2016-03-10 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Joel is held to be one of the latest prophetic witnesses; it cites other books of the book of the Twelve prophets with a density that distinguishes it from its neighbours. The concept of the "Day of the LORD" which runs throughout the Minor Prophets as a whole reaches its zenith in Joel and its co-mingling of ecological and military metaphors advances Hosea on the former and anticipates later texts on the latter. In this volume within T&T Clark's International Theological Commentary Series Christopher Seitz starts from a foundation of historical-critical methodology to provide an account of Joel's place and purpose within the book of the Twelve prophets as a whole. Seitz examines the theology and background of Joel, and shows how Joel's theological function can provide a major hermeneutical key to the interpretation of the wider collection, and teases out the precise character of that role.

Book The United States Mexico Canada Agreement USMCA

Download or read book The United States Mexico Canada Agreement USMCA written by Leslie Alan Glick and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On July 1, 2020, after much expectation and delay, the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)—a greatly revised version of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) of 1994—came into effect. This timely book by the author of the preeminent guide to NAFTA and an active participant and private sector advocate in the USMCA negotiation and legislative process provides a chapter-by-chapter analysis of the new agreement, clearly describing what has changed from the earlier agreement and what is new. After a concise but expertly calibrated summary of NAFTA, the author proceeds systematically through a practical analysis of each USMCA provision, emphasizing such crucial new elements as the following: new rules on intellectual property rights; stricter rules of origin within the automotive industry; major reforms in Mexican labor laws and their enforceability; opening of Canada’s agricultural and dairy sector to more U.S. competition; entirely new chapter on digital trade; new dispute mechanisms; requirement of an increased minimum wage in auto plants; and a new chapter on environmental standards. Changes in such important aspects of trade as textiles and apparel, ownership of hydrocarbons, cross-border trade in services, and anticorruption measures are also fully described. The USMCA is a response to a United States initiative to renegotiate NAFTA. As a key regional trade agreement with vast global ramifications, familiarity with its content and rules is essential for all business, legal, policymaking, and academic parties concerned with international trade. This useful practical guide will be a welcome addition to private and corporate libraries, including corporate counsel, customs brokers, freight forwarders, logistics and import-export managers, government officials, and academics who need a thorough understanding of the new agreement.
