Book excerpt: It's Time to Heal is for the young woman that secretly has enough of life and the constant battle of feeling insecure in herself; she is intentional about breaking out from her secret struggles, but still seeks to compare herself with others. Yes, she desires to be healed, but her past is battling with her future. She knows what it is like to feel left out and often ends up hidden in the corner broken. No one knows the real agony she faces, so she puts it on with a smile and a few laughs. But little did she know that something is missing: HEALING. This book is a guide that reminds her of the Father's love and His promise in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give YOU a future and a hope". She will be uplifted knowing that her future is bright and that healing is available when she makes the choice.

Book Mind Over Medicine

Download or read book Mind Over Medicine written by Lissa Rankin, M.D. and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2013-05-07 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We’ve been led to believe that when we get sick, it’s our genetics. Or it’s just bad luck—and doctors alone hold the keys to optimal health. For years, Lissa Rankin, M.D., believed the same. But when her own health started to suffer, and she turned to Western medical treatments, she found that they not only failed to help; they made her worse. So she decided to take matters into her own hands. Through her research, Dr. Rankin discovered that the health care she had been taught to practice was missing something crucial: a recognition of the body’s innate ability to self-repair and an appreciation for how we can control these self-healing mechanisms with the power of the mind. In an attempt to better understand this phenomenon, she explored peer-reviewed medical literature and found evidence that the medical establishment had been proving that the body can heal itself for over 50 years. Using extraordinary cases of spontaneous healing, Dr. Rankin shows how thoughts, feelings, and beliefs can alter the body’s physiology. She lays out the scientific data proving that loneliness, pessimism, depression, fear, and anxiety damage the body, while intimate relationships, gratitude, meditation, sex, and authentic self-expression flip on the body’s self-healing processes. In the final section of the book, you’ll be introduced to a radical new wellness model based on Dr. Rankin’s scientific findings. Her unique six-step program will help you uncover where things might be out of whack in your life—spiritually, creatively, environmentally, nutritionally, and in your professional and personal relationships—so that you can create a customized treatment plan aimed at bolstering these health-promoting pieces of your life. You’ll learn how to listen to your body’s "whispers" before they turn to life-threatening "screams" that can be prevented with proper self-care, and you’ll learn how to trust your inner guidance when making decisions about your health and your life. By the time you finish Mind Over Medicine, you’ll have made your own Diagnosis, written your own Prescription, and created a clear action plan designed to help you make your body ripe for miracles.

Book A Time for Healing

Download or read book A Time for Healing written by David E. Morgan PhD and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-01-30 with total page 895 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, in real families, only a very small portion of the population comes from nurturing and supportive homes; most individuals have been products of dysfunctional families instead. In A Time for Healing, author Dr. David E. Morgan provides a study of a dysfunctional family and presents principles necessary for sustaining a healthy family unit. Through the interplay of the fictional, four-generation Gardner family, A Time for Healing illustrates some events that can cause a family to be dysfunctional, reveals the carnage left from the pain, and discusses how to eradicate it. The Gardners story shows how unhealthy family rules of behavior are passed down from parents to children and what a devastating effect this process has on families, relationships, organizational lives, and society. With ideas gleaned from more than forty years as an educator in the Chicago public schools, including both part-time and full time in higher education, Morgan shows how we can envision and create a better way forward and avoid the imperfections of family dysfunction in the future. A Time for Healing offers help for reclaiming the family by creating real, effective positive change. Cleaning up the family is about character, communication, forgiveness, healing, integrity, love, redemption, respect, understanding and the ownership of our acts.

Book A Time to Kill a Time to Heal

Download or read book A Time to Kill a Time to Heal written by Roger Helle and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-01-04 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ron entered the long hospital corridor looking for his brother Roger. After searching the ward unsuccessfully, he approached a doctor standing by the bed of a patient. "I'm Sergeant Helle's brother," he said. "How is he?" The doctor looked at Ron and said, "I'm sorry, son, but your brother is going to die. There's nothing else we can do." Just a few beds away, drifting in and out of consciousness, Roger heard the doctor's death sentence. Not yet twenty-three years old, he felt fear grip his heart in a way he had not even experienced on the battlefield. That fear caused him to do something he had never done before. Roger silently prayed, "God, if there is a God, if you let me live, I'll do anything you want!" Then he slipped mercifully back into a drug-induced sleep. That prayer would be answered in a way Roger could never have imagined, but only after years of nightmares, alcohol, and tortured emotional battles. Peace did come at last as Roger not only made peace with Vietnam, but the emotional pain of his past as well. Roger and Shirley Helle live in Chattanooga Tennessee. They retired from Teen Challenge in 2017 after 40 years of ministry. The Helle's continue to travel across the country speaking and ministering.

Book Ghana a Time to Heal Renew the Nation

Download or read book Ghana a Time to Heal Renew the Nation written by Kwame Afadzi Insaidoo and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007-08-08 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thought provoking book the author takes a critical retrospective glance at the political development of Ghana from its colonial past to the attainment of her sovereignty, and highlights the insidious fundamental flaws in the governance of the new nation. He unequivocally asserts that the creation of a dysfunctional totalitarian governmental system, where a cadre of unseasoned politicians systematically arrogated all power to themselves, and zealously prosecuted their political adversaries into oblivion, constituted the most fatal fundamental flaw in the governance of the nation. He points out that the militarys delusional belief in their self-appointed messianic role of liberating and redeeming Ghana from the odious dictatorship imposed on the people opened up the nation to the Pandoras box of bureaucratic ineptitude, gross power abuses, poorly conceived, and haphazardly implemented programs which precipitated political instability, stagnation, and decay of the institutions of state leading to the exodus of Ghanaians abroad. The dominant theme that permeates throughout the book revolves around the prevalence of the underlying institutional malaise inherited from colonialpolitical structureswhich concentrate too much raw political powers in the hands of the presidency. This accumulation of near absolute power elevates our presidents to the status of benevolent dictators, and sotheir policies go virtually unchallenged. This lack of checks and balances in our political system enabled the colonialists to totally exploit our people, andwhen our Ghanaian leaders governed our new nation in this same odious system they got the opportunity, like the colonial masters, to exploit and arrogate power to themselves, while utilizing the legal system as a weapon to harass their political opponents and silenced them. The author argues that this incompatibility of the colonial system with the political development of modern Ghana is the root cause of our political polarization, endemic instability and pervasive poverty.
