Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "When you have read these simple pages, you won't say "It's Raining Miracles" is a great book." You won't say "Don Evans is a great writer." But your heart will know that God is still doing today the same things He did when Jesus walked the earth. You will hear testimony after testimony of just how great our God really is." "'It's time saith the Lord. It's time to see the fire on the roof again. It's time for the wind to blow. 'It's time for the lame to be made whole, for the blind to see, and the lepers to be cleansed. It's time that I will do mighty acts so that men can be saved. I will do it through your hands,' saith God. Some will say, 'Is that the Don Evans we know?' Yes, but they will hardly recognize you, for the anointing of God will be so strong and powerful upon you'" (Prophecy given by Danny Griffin, September 1987). The late great Irene Burk Harrell said, "Many say they have a miracle ministry or flow in the Prophetic, and we see very little. But not so when Brother Don Evans comes to town. The proof is in the pudding, they say, and truly He does provide the proof to back up his ministry from God."

Book Marcus Aurelius Rain Miracle and the Marcomannic Wars

Download or read book Marcus Aurelius Rain Miracle and the Marcomannic Wars written by Peter Kovács and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009-01-31 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The longest war of the Roman imperial period is the war Marcus Aurelius waged with the northern German and Sarmatian tribes. The best-known events of these wars were the lightning and rain miracles. Divine intervention saved the Roman troops who were surrounded by the Germans and suffering from a water shortage, by means of a lightning and rain miracle. Thunderbolts struck the enemy while the rain soothed the Romans’ suffering. Several pagan and Christian versions of the miracle existed already in Antiquity. Péter Kovács examines these events and their sources in detail. The most important source is the Column of Marcus Aurelius in Rome. The scenes of the column depict the miracles as well and therefore it was studied separately. The author also sketches the history of the Marcomannic wars. He publishes all the sources of the miracles and examines the development of the legend from Antiquity to the 14th century.

  • ISBN : 1555846815
  • Pages : 247 pages

Download or read book The Miracle written by John L'Heureux and published by Grove/Atlantic, Inc.. This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The author seems to be standing on the shoulders of giants . . . gives a rare human depth to a young priest who wants to become a saint” (San Francisco Chronicle). In a pitch-perfect, deeply satisfying work of fiction selected as a New York Times Notable Book, a Publishers Weekly Best Book, and recipient of the Gold Medal for Fiction from the Commonwealth Club of California, master storyteller L’Heureux enters the world of an unorthodox young priest whose faith is put to the test. Father Paul LeBlanc is young, handsome, and charismatic, but he has dangerous ideas on sex, marriage, and birth control—and he just doesn’t uphold the decorum expected of a young priest. When, for no reason, a miracle occurs—a dead girl is brought back to life before his eyes—Father LeBlanc finds his faith, his vows, his reason, and his life itself called into question, leaving him with nowhere to turn. Witty, profound, and deeply moving, The Miracle explores the way God meddles in our lives and to what end. It is John L’Heureux’s best, most daring novel to date. “Written in swift-moving prose of unaffected simplicity . . . It comes off as neither pat nor preachy but, rather, as a delicately nuanced portrait of recognizable human individuals making what they can of life.” —The New York Times Book Review “L’Heureux brings the priest through his crisis of faith with the same tenderness that makes all his books such a pleasure in read.” —TheLos Angeles Times Book Review “L’Heureux’s snappy, succulent novel of faith and body, starts out sharp and ends with a razor slash.” —The Baltimore Sun

Book Back to the Miracle Factory

Download or read book Back to the Miracle Factory written by Paul Williams and published by Forge Books. This book was released on 2010-06-08 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul Williams has been writing about pop music for decades, never flagging in his enthusiasm or his emotional and intellectual openness to the newest music. He has been doing this ever since he founded the rock magazine, Crawdaddy, in 1966. His insight into how it feels when we listen to certain performers or certain performances makes a connection between music and reading that is rare and fascinating. Whether its Bob Dylan or Brian Wilson, Pearl Jam or Nirvana, Paul Williams can reveal something we didn't know we knew when we listened to the music. This is what rock criticism was invented to do, back in the 1960s, and he has been doing ever since. It's as much fun to read, as the music is to listen to. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leanne Strong hates June eighth even though it’s supposed to a day for celebration. Fifteen years ago on that date, baby Leanne was purported to be miraculously healed of a spinal cord defect after her mother prayed to a religious mystic who was later elevated to sainthood. Since Leanne’s unexplained cure, thousands of people gather in her small town every year to celebrate her miracle—a miracle she doesn't remember but still accepts as real—most of the time. When teen pitching phenom Braeden Dalisay moves into the house across the street from Leanne, he harbors a chip on his shoulder even larger than his athletic talent. Forced to spend the summer in the same law office, he and Leanne carry on a working relationship that vacillates between stormy and silent. After Leanne finds out that Braeden’s sister, Emeline, recently passed away, the reason for his behavior becomes clear. Emeline Dalisay was a girl who didn’t get a miracle. Time softens Braeden’s anger, and he and Leanne eventually draw closer. But when he and his family are hit with another traumatic event, he pulls away, the unfairness of life a deep wound. Leanne wants to help Braeden and his family heal as much as she wants a relationship with him. More than that, she wants a miracle for Braeden.

Book The Miracle of Intervale Avenue

Download or read book The Miracle of Intervale Avenue written by Jack Kugelmass and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 1996 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Located in the ravaged urban landscape of the South Bronx, the Intervale Jewish Center is the last synagogue still in regular use in a rapidly changing neighborhood. This unique congregation represents the struggle of individuals to maintain their dignity, independence, and faith over the years. In The Miracle of Intervale Avenue, Jack Kugelmass tells the inspiring story of a community that continues to see the area as its own, as a place they steadfastly refuse to abandon despite a major shift in the ethnic demography of the South Bronx and an increase in violent crime. The Miracle of Intervale Avenue is the story of Moishe Sacks, the Intervale Jewish Center's charismatic leader, acting rabbi, master baker, and storyteller. But it is also the larger story of a small community of primarily elderly Jews and of the human quest for meaning in the face of death. A classic ethnography of American Jewish life, The Miracle of Intervale Avenue has now been brought up to date. In a new closing chapter and epilogue, Kugelmass shows how the congregation has adapted to the radical changes in the neighborhood, bringing closure to this poignant work. Now with 38 photographs of the community over the years, the book covers the slow economic resurgence of the South Bronx and discusses the revitalizing effect of the congregation's new members, including blacks and Latinos.
