Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Man as a creature is superior to other lesser elements of our ecosystem. Superior in wisdom, mannerism, conduct and lifestyle and should of course instruct all nature in terms of leadership and dominion. It becomes amazing however that ALMIGHTY MAN would be asked to stoop so low as to GO TO THE ANT; CONSIDER HER WAYS AND BE WISE... (Proverbs 6:6) This rather imposing statement clearly spotlights the ant as tiny and frail as it is as an unusual agent of wisdom, an embodiment of strength and a master of leadership coordination. Our study of the ant presents some strong lessons to us on the preferred approach to life and judgement of issues in a way that will inspire the much needed change in our own thought process and overall view of life. We will learn from the ant that life is about determination and the will to push through against all odds until we succeed. We will acquire the never give up spirit of the ant, we will cast less blames on our poor states of being, our nation, background and ecology for our present outcomes in life and we will develop a strong determination from within to try again and never retreat or surrender until we win! The Way of the ANT is a book on National Transformation by mindset reengineering. It is a book that will get us to see things from a standpoint of personal responsibility and collective positive delivery towards communual rebirth and social emancipation. We each constitute a tiny part of our larger society and each individual must endeavour to play his/her role and well enough to create the appropriate societal linkage that will eventually constitute grounds for national growth and global enhancement. We are important! We must create value! We should not just exist, but rather live in such a way that our own endpoints in life will stir up sufficient motivation in the man next door to effectively champion his own course to natural excellence. This is the way of the ant!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hi! My name is Buddy. I am a Beagle. Since I can read and write, I am no ordinary Beagle. I also am very fond of Mental Masturbation. Mental Masturbation, Dear Reader, is a form of anxiety relief. It affects my ever-wandering, always-worrying, exceedingly-addictive mind that works 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. I even can confirm that Mental Masturbation manages to continue spinning an extra day during leap year. This collection of missives, which I hope you will read (albeit I do not know why you would care so to do) and for which I beg you to pay, is my banal attempt to understand the "why" of life. Whether I am discussing my adventures or thinking about meaningless things, I hope you find my words interesting, fun, thought-provoking or, well, you bought the book so at that point my hopes alredy have been achieved, i.e. I made money to buy more treats! Oh yes, if anyone has a cure for Mental Masturbation, I would be most grateful with any elixir that would speed me towards enlightenment. Hugs and Kisses, Buddy [email protected]

  • Pages : 295 pages

Download or read book Adolph Sutro written by William R. Huber and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2020-03-30 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adolph Sutro was forever seeking challenges. Emigrating from Prussia to the U.S. at age 20, the California gold rush lured him west. At the Comstock Lode in Nevada, he conceived an idea for a tunnel to drain the hot water that made the mines perilous and inefficient. But he would have to overcome both physical obstacles and powerful opposition by the Bank of California to realize his vision. Back in San Francisco, Sutro bought one twelfth of the city, including the famous Cliff House perched over the Pacific Ocean. When it burned to cinders on Christmas Day, 1894, he built a massive, eight-story Victorian replacement. He used his expertise in tunneling and water solutions to create the world's largest enclosed swimming structure, the Sutro Baths--six glass-covered heated saltwater pools with capacity of 1,000 swimmers. Other challenges followed but Sutro was not invincible. After a two-year term as mayor of San Francisco, he succumbed to debilitating strokes which left him senile. His death in 1898 started disputes among his heirs--six children by his wife and two by his mistress--that lasted more than a decade.

Book excerpt: When it comes to a career in coaching sports, there is no teaching without doing—and practice doesn’t just make perfect, it makes a whole life. In this heartfelt memoir, first-time author Thomas H. Peart recounts the story of his experiences growing up in Alexandria, Minnesota, playing hockey, joining the US Marine Corps, attending college, and eventually entering a lengthy and impressive career as a coach for high school, college, and professional hockey—both stateside and overseas—alongside a number of other sports. Beginning in childhood and throughout his life, all the way up to the moment of his authoring this very book, Peart’s career as a coach is a testament to the value of learning through experience, teaching with care and respect, and always remaining open to opportunity. A satisfying slice of life in the postwar American Midwest, this book will make a great addition to the shelves of Peart’s contemporaries, as well as anyone interested in the worlds of amateur and professional sports. Because those who do, teach—and those who teach, do.
