Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book This is a story of a boy–spending his first grade through half of sixth grade (1948-53) on a rural NY farm in a foster-type environment. Farm work happens every day and the only thing he can control is his mind. A close UFO encounter that occurs near the end of his internment on the farm turns his mind toward science and unknown paths of endeavor in manufacturing and the wild. In 1962, the largest Rochester manufacturing unit is his first encounter with highly educated and driven management. They want reasonably competent, obedient, yes men, which is a sad reminder of life on the farm. Michael resents exacting bosses who use people to achieve their personal goals while giving workers little in return. He desires and thrives in the wild world of creation, science, experimental fixtures, and the unknown. Happiness is out there in the form of poetry, painting, dream control, gravity and his last good job, which is at Xerox. His desire of retribution against the system fades as he realizes the Lord has helped him all along.

Book The Power of Middle School

Download or read book The Power of Middle School written by Keen J. Babbage and published by R&L Education. This book was released on 2012 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The middle school years are a maze of academic duties, human growth and self-development, discovering self identity, and increasing social interaction with other people. This maze can be an adventure of achievement and opportunity, or it can be a struggle of difficulty and disappointment. As these experiences are the impetus or foundation for many later achievements in academics, careers, and personal life, it is imperative that educators maximize these formative years by helping middle school students successfully travel through this maze despite its ups and downs, its twists and turns, and its new challenges to master and the old issues to resolve. For instance, educators must support students who have fallen behind, so as to thwart their reduced likelihood of turnaround in high school. Likewise, educators must challenge exceptional students, in order to perpetuate their enthusiasm for learning and prepare them for college studies. By discussing the comprehensive roles and duties of school administrators, counselors, and teachers, The Power of Middle School addresses how to maximize middle school curriculum and extra-curricular activities for the academic, personal, and professional benefits of all students.

Book excerpt: My book began as a very small idea in my head to help keep my personal life more organized. And, as it grew, it became apparent that maybe I wasn't the only person in the world that wanted to keep their records in one area. So, as it grew and grew, it became a book called "KNOW IT ALL - The Book About You". It should allow you to keep pertinent information close at hand. There is a chapter for hopefully, anything that you wish to keep track of . Some categories are detail and unlike myself, you might not want to spend the required time on entering information. But, in my own book after I have entered information it has proven itself to be a valuable record of the "goings-on" in my life.

Book The 8th Habit

Download or read book The 8th Habit written by Stephen R. Covey and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-01-08 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 7 Habits series, international bestselling author Stephen R. Covey showed us how to become as effective as it is possible to be. In his long-awaited new book, THE 8th HABIT, he opens up an entirely new dimension of human potential, and shows us how to achieve greatness in any position and any venue. All of us, Covey says, have within us the means for greatness. To tap into it is a matter of finding the right balance of four human attributes: talent, need, conscience and passion. At the nexus of these four attributes is what Covey calls voice - the unique, personal significance we each possess. Covey exhorts us all to move beyond effectiveness into the realm of greatness - and he shows us how to do so, by engaging our strengths and locating our powerful, individual voices. Why do we need this new habit? Because we have entered a new era in human history. The world is a profoundly different place than when THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE was originally published in 1989. The challenges and complexity we face today are of a different order of magnitude. We enjoy far greater autonomy in all areas of our lives, and along with this freedom comes the expectation that we will manage ourselves, instead of being managed by others. At the same time, we struggle to feel engaged, fulfilled and passionate. Tapping into the higher reaches of human genius and motivation to find our voice requires a new mindset, a new skill-set, a new tool-set - in short, a whole new habit.

Book Yes It All Really Happened

Download or read book Yes It All Really Happened written by Bernard C. Baumbach and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-09-16 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of this project has been to leave a description of middle-class American life as experienced during the second quarter of the 20th century to those in my kinship system who were born decades later. This collection of autobiographical vignettes --for which I plead guilty of enhancing with fictitious dialogue in order to craft a story --provides a literary context for reconstructing the actual events, only segments of which are sequestered in memory. In other words, I am determined that in so doing I am involved as much in explanation as I am in entertaining. I am acutely aware of the fact that in this memoir a greater emphasis has been given to my pre-teen years. This imbalance was provoked by sage counsel to restrict the size of this book. Hence, a number of stories emerging from experiences occurring, and/or endured, throughout my high school and college years --indeed, a number sufficient for more than another book --were pulled from the manuscript, but not deleted from my computer. The dialogue in each story admittedly involves some fabrication. But the persons, the places, and the various features of each historical context are actual and true. Given my subsequent understanding of the personalities of those principally involved in each story, in crafting the scenarios I have not hesitated to propose what I believe might have been an approximation of what may well have been the actual dialogue. Ergo, although each story is not absolutely authentic from beginning to end, with respect to the centering experience in each case, YES, It ALL Actually HAPPENED! B.C.B.
