Download or read book Neurosis Revealed written by Hyman H. Rabinovitch, M.d. and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-10-30 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neurosis refers to a mental illness which affects everyone to a greater or lesser extent, yet very little, if anything, is known about it. In contrast, the other mental illness, psychosis, is well known although quite rare. The two are entirely different in incidence, cause, signs and symptoms, treatment and prevention. The book is written in lay language to disclose the mystery of neurosis and clearly distinguish it from psychosis, the lay term for which is "crazy". Unfortunately, through ignorance the term crazy may be applied to those suffering from neurosis. A plea is made for the abandonment of the unwarranted stigma associated with both illnesses. Neurosis is caused by psychic trauma in the past which is stored in the subconscious where it has a negative influence on the conscious in the present. Neurosis is the illness, psychic trauma its cause and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) its manifestation. Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of an illness is crucial to its recognition, as is knowledge of its cause to its prevention. Faulty parenting is the most common, but not only, cause of neurosis. Sub-optimal parenting is universal through lack of appropriate training, education or experience. As everyone has or has had a parent or two the consequent neurosis is ubiquitous. The treatment of neurosis is talk therapy of which there are many forms available. A little known, but highly effective, talk therapy entitled Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) is described in detail along with an explanation of the reason for its effectiveness. Unfortunately, most individuals with neurosis today are treated with drug therapy (anti-depressants or tranquilizers for anxiety ). This treatment is effortless, lucrative, non-curative and may be accompanied by burdensome side effects. The main beneficiary is it pharmaceutical industry. Suggestions of what to expect from the therapist are offered with the warning to reconsider pleasant friendly sessions lasting years or even decades. Good therapy should be stressful, completed within one year and certainly within two years in the case of fragile or highly resistant patients.
Download or read book The Noah Diary written by Jordan Douglas and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-03-15 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The well-known personal diary of Texas Cowgirl Jordan Douglas in college, at age 19. A Daddy's Girl and Texas Tomboy, she grew up in rural Texas roping and riding on horses with her Father, and found out love could be harder for a Tomboy who weren't as pretty as the cheerleaders. She had kept secret diaries through her teens of her ideas of love, sexual secrets, and as older guy friends shared benefits, they rejected her afterwards. She wrote about her strict religious upbringing and guilt from self-intimacy, and private sexual fantasies about the perfect Cowboy, her father. Her "Daddy Issues," and not recognizing her darker sexual needs exploded to the surface her 2nd year in College, and was recorded by her, in 'The Noah Diary." With her secret "Daddy Issues," her thick, Texas curves in her favorite Cowgirl boots and short-shorts, found herself in the arms of a stranger and older Cowboy named 'Noah' who was 27 years old, and whose style of intimacy was emotionally and physically brutal and poisoning to her mind. Jordan began a sexually-dominated summer with her hands tied behind her back, getting forced to explore her darker sexual desires of real sexual humiliation, stimulating sexual-emotional abuse, and disturbing sexual mind-play drawing out her need for more than Daddy's approval. Noah used these on her all summer as he forced her sexual needs past limits she couldn't handle, punishing her with her own desires to screaming excess, drugging her daily, and bringing her into complete Submission to his stimulating Daddy role over her. She had found true love in this journey of self-discovery and understanding, and began to feel like a beautiful cheerleader with her new Daddy, and as the summer came to an end, she feared leaving Noah to go back to college, feared facing her religious parents, her lies to them about working all summer, the truth that she had flunked her last semester to be with Noah, and they paid the bill. She had to return home to face her mistakes, when all she wanted, was happily ever after in Texas.
Download or read book The Bible in History written by Robert B. Waltz and published by Robert B. Waltz. This book was released on with total page 639 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible in History. A study of the history, folklore, and occasionally even the mathematics underlying the Bible. A sort of dictionary of scholarly material you likely won’t find elsewhere. Dedicated to Elizabeth Rosenberg, Patricia Rosenberg, and Catie Jo Pidel. Please understand that this is not a Biblical commentary. Also, while I try very hard to avoid actual theological discussions, the work is very much based on "external evidence" -- the manuscripts of the Bible, the evidence of other historical records, the findings of science, the folklore about the Bible. Some of this can be offensive to some, particularly those who try to find exact literal truth in the Bible. I hope you will accept it (or else not read it :-) in that light. If you are still interested, there is a lot of historical background about the Bible here -- not always direct links to the Bible, but the context of the nations among whom the Israelites lived. There is no Biblical mention of (say) Nabopolassar of Babylon, but his actions would deeply influence Judean history. Knowing even a little of that history can help understand the Bible. Also, where there are variant readings in the manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible or the New Testament, I note it. This may mean that we are uncertain what the Bible says -- and hence what it means. I try either to recover the original meaning or, in some cases, to assess the meanings of both readings. And then there are the tidbits of science and folklore and anything else I can think of.... The result is a grab bag. Some parts may be useful, some may not. The idea is to browse and see what strikes your fancy. With luck, you'll understand more about the Bible after doing so.
Download or read book Michael Jackson and Women written by June Forester and published by Libres d'écrire. This book was released on 2018-07-13 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael Jackson's sexuality has always been a controversial issue which often degenerated into a media spectacle, leaving hardly enough space for other aspects to exist. When he was alive, he was considered either as an androgynous or an homosexual character who could not be attracted to women in any manner whatsoever. After his death, he became all at once a highly sexy heterosexual object, sometimes described as a womanizer : actresses, singers, supermodels, princesses or mere fans, all claimed that they shared intimate moments with the King of Pop. This book is an attempt to unravel the truth behind more than three decades of allegations. From his childhood to his death, he avoided doing things like anybody else and his relationships with women were not an exception to the rule. Both intricate and exciting, Michael Jackson's love life has something of an "epic" and often challenges the mere triviality of facts.
Download or read book Moonwalk written by Michael Jackson and published by Crown Archetype. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this #1 New York Times bestseller, Michael Jackson tells the story of his life, in his words. In this intimate and often moving personal account of Michael Jackson’s public and private life, he recalls a childhood that was both harsh and joyful but always formidable. Michael and his brothers played amateur music shows and seamy Chicago strip joints until Motown’s corporate image makers turned the Jackson 5 into worldwide superstars. He talks about the happy prankster days of his youth, traveling with his brothers, and of his sometimes difficult relationships with his family over the years. He speaks candidly about the inspiration behind his music, his mesmerizing dance moves, and the compulsive drive to create that has made him one of the biggest stars in the music business and a legend in his own time. Jackson also shares his personal feelings about some of his most public friends…friends like Diana Ross, Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando, and Katharine Hepburn. He talks openly about the crushing isolation of his fame, of his first love, of his plastic surgery, and of his wholly exceptional career and the often bizarre and unfair rumors that have surrounded it. Illustrated with rare photographs from Jackson family albums and Michael’s personal photographic archives, as well as a drawing done by Michael exclusively for this book, Moonwalk is a memorable journey to the very heart and soul of a modern musical genius.
Download or read book Multicultural China in the Early Middle Ages written by Sanping Chen and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2012-04-17 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In contrast to the economic and cultural dominance by the south and the east coast over the past several centuries, influence in China in the early Middle Ages was centered in the north and featured a significantly multicultural society. Many events that were profoundly formative for the future of East Asian civilization occurred during this period, although much of this multiculturalism has long been obscured due to the Confucian monopoly of written records. Multicultural China in the Early Middle Ages endeavors to expose a number of long-hidden non-Sinitic characteristics and manifestations of heritage, some lasting to this very day. Sanping Chen investigates several foundational aspects of Chinese culture during this period, including the legendary unicorn and the fabled heroine Mulan, to determine the origin and development of the lore. His meticulous research yields surprising results. For instance, he finds that the character Mulan is not of Chinese origin and that Central Asian influences are to be found in language, religion, governance, and other fundamental characteristics of Chinese culture. As Victor Mair writes in the Foreword, "While not everyone will acquiesce in the entirety of Dr. Chen's findings, no reputable scholar can afford to ignore them with impunity." These "foreign"-origin elements were largely the legacy of the Tuoba, whose descendants in fact dominated China's political and cultural stage for nearly a millennium. Long before the Mongols, the Tuoba set a precedent for "using the civilized to rule the civilized" by attracting a large number of sedentary Central Asians to East Asia. This not only added a strong pre-Islamic Iranian layer to the contemporary Sinitic culture but also commenced China's golden age under the cosmopolitan Tang dynasty, whose nominally "Chinese" ruling house is revealed by Chen to be the biological and cultural heir of the Tuoba.

Download or read book Michael Jackson Inc written by Zack O'Malley Greenburg and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The surprising rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches story of how Michael Jackson grew a billion-dollar business. Michael Jackson is known by many as the greatest entertainer of all time, but he was also a revolutionary when it came to business. In addition to famously buying the Beatles’ publishing catalogue, Jackson was one of the first pop stars to launch his own clothing line, record label, sneakers, and video games—creating a fundamental shift in the monetization of fame and paving the way for entertainer-entrepreneurs like Jay Z and Diddy. All told, Jackson earned more than $1.1 billion in his solo career, and the assets he built in life have earned more than $700 million in the five years since his death—more than any other solo music act over that time. Michael Jackson, Inc. reveals the incredible rise, fall, and rise again of Michael Jackson’s fortune—driven by the unmatched perfectionism of the King of Pop. Forbes senior editor Zack O’Malley Greenburg uncovers never-before-told stories from interviews with more than 100 people, including music industry veterans Berry Gordy, John Branca, and Walter Yetnikoff; artists 50 Cent, Sheryl Crow, and Jon Bon Jovi; and members of the Jackson family. Other insights come from court documents and Jackson’s private notes, some of them previously unpublished. Through Greenburg’s novelistic telling, a clear picture emerges of Jackson’s early years, his rise to international superstardom, his decline—fueled by demons internal and external, as well as the dissolution of the team that helped him execute his best business moves—and, finally, his financial life after death. Underlying Jackson’s unique history is the complex but universal tale of the effects of wealth and fame on the human psyche. A valuable case study for generations of entertainers to come and for anyone interested in show business, Michael Jackson, Inc. tells the story of a man whose financial feats, once obscured by his late-life travails, have become an enduring legacy.
