Book I Can Be Myself When Everyone I Know Is Dead

Download or read book I Can Be Myself When Everyone I Know Is Dead written by Kamila Mlynarczyk and published by . This book was released on 2021-09-07 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I can be myself when everyone I know is dead... That's the title of the thing I made. The thing that I made is a book. It houses a collection of my art (some from online and some not) created from 2017 - 2019. The writing delves uncomfortably into my mind and life. It describes the rhyme and reason behind why everyone needs a little snail friend, why cute poops make this world a better place, and why werewolves always hesitate before devouring the sacrificial girl-child. Actually, it's really about how horribly influential and affecting childhood is and how babcia's soup is actually her life-blood. No, no, it's more about how Audri is planning to take over the world. It's probably about too many things for one book, which means it's really all about breaking the rules. There are no rules in art, so there are no rules in my book, hence the title: I can be myself when everyone I know is dead... which is much too long to be usefully searchable. Eye of Newt Books wants to let you know that someone in this process took it seriously, tried to follow the rules, and is going to make it a nice artbook that will have you laughing, crying, and cringing by the end. That is...if you read it from cover to cover (which I don't recommend because that would be following the "rules").

Book The Boy Who Felt Too Much

Download or read book The Boy Who Felt Too Much written by Lorenz Wagner and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An International Bestseller, the Story behind Henry Markram’s Breakthrough Theory about Autism, and How a Family’s Unconditional Love Led to a Scientific Paradigm Shift Henry Markram is the Elon Musk of neuroscience, the man behind the billion-dollar Blue Brain Project to build a supercomputer model of the brain. He has set the goal of decoding all disturbances of the mind within a generation. This quest is personal for him. The driving force behind his grand ambition has been his son Kai, who has autism. Raising Kai made Henry Markram question all that he thought he knew about neuroscience, and then inspired his groundbreaking research that would upend the conventional wisdom about autism, expressed in his now-famous theory of Intense World Syndrome. When Kai was first diagnosed, his father consulted studies and experts. He knew as much about the human brain as almost anyone but still felt as helpless as any parent confronted with this condition in his child. What’s more, the scientific consensus that autism was a deficit of empathy didn’t mesh with Markram’s experience of his son. He became convinced that the disorder, which has seen a 657 percent increase in diagnoses over the past decade, was fundamentally misunderstood. Bringing his world-class research to bear on the problem, he devised a radical new theory of the disorder: People like Kai don’t feel too little; they feel too much. Their senses are too delicate for this world.

The small town of Bellamy Bay has its share of skeletons in its closet, but it isn't used to bodies turning up in the local history museum. After all, this coastal North Carolina town is much like any other...except, of course, for the mermaids. Helping to run the family business, an herbal apothecary, while keeping her supernatural secret hidden is no easy feat for water witch Aleksandra Daniels. But somehow she's still found time to help her friend Celeste, who has her own Caribbean mermaid heritage, plan the annual Mermaid Festival. As fun-seekers throng the beaches, Alex gets to know and is intrigued by renowned artist Neve Ryland, who's in town to decorate the local park with a mermaid-themed mural. Celeste, however, is less enamored with the artist, as Neve has been spending entirely too much one-on-one time with her boyfriend Jasper, director of Bellamy Bay's history museum. Then, a reception for Neve ends abruptly when the artist is found dead in his office. When the police investigation nets Celeste, Alex decides to find the true culprit. With the help of her magically-inclined aunt and cousins, Alex dives in to clear her friend's name. But there was more to Neve Ryland than met the eye...and Alex fears she may be in way too deep. Will she catch the crook or be next on the hook?

Book excerpt: She has zero time for a relationship. A fake one will have to do—in New York Times bestselling author Marina Adair’s new romance that brings the humor and the heart... Evie Granger’s life is one crisis away from a complete meltdown. Between single-parenting a sixteen-going-on-forty daughter, managing a mom living her best life way out loud, caring for an ailing father, and keeping the family’s struggling coffee shop afloat, Evie hasn’t looked after herself in far too long. So naturally her best friend chooses this moment to post a video of Evie describing the ideal man...and sends it stratospherically viral. Now Evie’s an overnight social media sensation and every eligible (and otherwise) guy in a five-state radius is turning up with his “I’m the one” credentials. But Evie can’t bring herself to let any Prince Charming into a life that’s barely holding together. A life she doesn’t even recognize as hers. So she strikes a bargain with her sexy—if equally overwhelmed—neighbor to convince America she’s taken. But can a faux fairytale start to feel real...or is it just as doomed from the start? Marina Adair’s clever, uproarious story captures the utter chaos and irrepressible joy of balancing kids, parents, love, and finding a spare minute for yourself—while the whole world watches every disastrous minute.
