This is the stuff you really need to know, not only because it matters but because it will quite simply amaze and delight you. 'Let me show you another, perhaps less familiar side of Science; her beauty, her seductiveness and her passion. And let's do it quickly, while Maths isn't looking' - Ben Miller 'This book makes climate change actually seem interesting. Not just important - it's obviously important - but interesting. As a result I bought lots of other books about climate change, something I now regret' - David Mitchell Ben Miller is, like you, a mutant ape living through an Ice Age on a ball of molten iron, orbiting a supermassive black hole. He is also an actor, comedian and approximately one half of Armstrong & Miller. A former rocket scientist reveals the habits, ideas, and strategies that will empower you to turn the seemingly impossible into the possible. Rocket science is often celebrated as the ultimate triumph of technology. But it's not. Rather, it's the apex of a certain thought process -- a way to imagine the unimaginable and solve the unsolvable. It's the same thought process that enabled Neil Armstrong to take his giant leap for mankind, that allows spacecraft to travel millions of miles through outer space and land on a precise spot, and that brings us closer to colonizing other planets. Fortunately, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to think like one. In this accessible and practical book, Ozan Varol reveals nine simple strategies from rocket science that you can use to make your own giant leaps in work and life -- whether it's landing your dream job, accelerating your business, learning a new skill, or creating the next breakthrough product. Today, thinking like a rocket scientist is a necessity. We all encounter complex and unfamiliar problems in our lives. Those who can tackle these problems -- without clear guidelines and with the clock ticking -- enjoy an extraordinary advantage. Think Like a Rocket Scientist will inspire you to take your own moonshot and enable you to achieve liftoff.

Book It Isn t Rocket Science

  • Author : Vince M. LEWIS
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2017-10-16
  • ISBN : 9781549980367
  • Pages : 65 pages

Download or read book It Isn t Rocket Science written by Vince M. LEWIS and published by . This book was released on 2017-10-16 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It Isn't Rocket Science covers various technological and scientific topics. There is actually some rocket science involved in a dedicated chapter. Some of the other topics covered are the biggest stars in the universe, rockets and their history, jetpacks, lasers and how they work, and the science of plasma. There are also some segments on digital micrometers and the USB microscope.Secretly though..."It isn't rocket science" really is rocket science! This is not the world's most boring book but it is probably deemed as being pretty close to that achievement. If of course you are technically minded and love facts and figures then this book could hold interest as a kick starter project! There is a lot of technology in this world and you do not have to be a brain-box to explore it and utilize it to its best advantage or to even understand it.Technology is quite cheap in this day and age too, in fact, technology is decreasing in price all the time because there is so much of it. A plethora of technology, an abundance of circuitry and electronics everywhere we look, everywhere we go and in everything we do.I utilize this technology to my advantage which in turn is to your advantage as you should always keep on checking for updates when you buy any of my books on Kindle as I am generally always updating them. I update with text and images and these updates are free if you already own the book.I hope that Kindle will one day go into a full-colour version as most of my images and hand drawn images are in HD full colour, that at the moment their somewhat downgraded technology is not taking full advantage of. The Japanese have had full-colour e-ink screens since 2011 and I ask the question now in late 2015 where are they in the Western hemisphere?None the less, my books are already colour ready for when they do eventually arrive.I would also like to add that none of my books are copied from any source, none are plagiarized like some unscrupulous ebook writers who merely copy off the Internet and make up an ebook up and then sit back and wait for the cash to come in.I write all my own work after doing all my own painstaking and meticulous research, turning my mind of mesmerizing miscellaneous and useless facts into useful and enjoyable facts, hopefuly! As I write the description of this book here for you, Amazon generously allows me about 3000 characters to do so and now at around 1500 characters I thought I would like to use all of the allotted character spaces as this particular piece of technology dictates. You may find that the section I have written about stars in this book along with the images are quite fascinating. The stars in our known universe are quite massive and make our Sun look like a pinhead by comparison. I have made up several images to shown this scale from an idea I saw online. They are all my own images made in my own paint program, I own the copyright. So if you think they are copied images, ostensibly they are not. I created them from original concepts thank you. All in full colour. It frustrates me that the HD full colour e-ink technology exists but is not being used by Kindle at present.I also discuss some history of the V1 and V2 rockets that the Germans used during WWII. It is amazing that so much of our technology today actually stems from war that occured over 70 years ago! If makes one wonder how technology would have progressed had it not been for war? I can only muse that technology would have progressed at a much slower rate, so much so that we would now be experiencing life as if living perhaps in1915 and not 2015.Rocket science is all around us, thanks to war and thanks to the 60 milllion people that actually died in that last conflict. Indeed a lot of technology stemmed off the space program that we today take for granted. We have also come along in leaps and bounds over the last decade as technology also helps technology to progress. Technology is a great force multiplier.

Book Why It s Not All Rocket Science

Download or read book Why It s Not All Rocket Science written by Robert Cave and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert Cave examines 100 extraordinary projects, theories and experiments that have been conducted in the name of science. Some, including various nuclear tests, have attracted controversy and hostility; others, such as Johann Wilhelm Ritter's erotic self-experiments with a voltaic pile, seem downright weird. But Cave demonstrates, thoroughly and informatively, that it is only by doggedly asking awkward questions, and paying close attention to the answers, that scientists have been able to make progress. From spider monkeys to human cyborgs, and from swimming in syrup to chaos theory, Cave places each experiment and discovery in its scientific context to present an entertaining guide to some of the most jaw-dropping entries in the history of science. Why It's Not All Rocket Science contains chapters on psychology, the body, society, planet Earth and the universe, and to read it is to gain startling insights into why scientists seem to behave so oddly, and how their brilliant if sometimes bizarre work benefits all of society.

Book Rise of the Rocket Girls

Download or read book Rise of the Rocket Girls written by Nathalia Holt and published by Little, Brown. This book was released on 2016-04-05 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The riveting true story of the women who launched America into space. In the 1940s and 50s, when the newly minted Jet Propulsion Laboratory needed quick-thinking mathematicians to calculate velocities and plot trajectories, they didn't turn to male graduates. Rather, they recruited an elite group of young women who, with only pencil, paper, and mathematical prowess, transformed rocket design, helped bring about the first American satellites, and made the exploration of the solar system possible. For the first time, Rise of the Rocket Girls tells the stories of these women -- known as "human computers" -- who broke the boundaries of both gender and science. Based on extensive research and interviews with all the living members of the team, Rise of the Rocket Girls offers a unique perspective on the role of women in science: both where we've been, and the far reaches of space to which we're heading. "If Hidden Figures has you itching to learn more about the women who worked in the space program, pick up Nathalia Holt's lively, immensely readable history, Rise of the Rocket Girls." -- Entertainment Weekly
