Book Fundamentals of Tractor Design

Download or read book Fundamentals of Tractor Design written by Karl Theodor Renius and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-28 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook offers a comprehensive review of tractor design fundamentals. Discussing more than hundred problems and including about six hundred international references, it offers a unique resource to advanced undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and also practical engineers, managers, test engineers, consultants and even old-timer fans. Tractors are the most important pieces of agricultural mechanization, hence a key factor of feeding the world. In order to address the educational needs of both less and more developed countries, the author included fundamentals of simple but proved designs for tractors with moderate technical levels, along with extensive information concerning modern, premium tractors. The broad technical content has been structured according to five technology levels, addressing all components. Relevant ISO standards are considered in all chapters. The book covers historical highlights, tractor project management (including cost management), traction mechanics, tires (including inflation control), belt ground drives, and ride dynamics. Further topics are: chassis design, diesel engines (with emission limits and installation instructions), all important types of transmissions, topics in machine element design, and human factors (health, safety, comfort). Moreover, the content covers tractor-implement management systems, in particular ISOBUS automation and hydraulic systems. Cumulative damage fundamentals and tractor load spectra are described and implemented for dimensioning and design verification. Fundamentals of energy efficiency are discussed for single tractor components and solutions to reduce the tractor CO2 footprint are suggested.

Book Mine Action

Download or read book Mine Action written by Multiple Authors and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-08-30 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every day, civilians in dozens of countries around the world are injured and killed by landmines and other lethal leftovers of conflict, years after hostilities of war have ended. Once planted, a mine will never be able to tell the difference between a military and civilian footstep, and a bomblet will continue to attract children and metal dealers. In order to put an end to the suffering and casualties caused by antipersonnel mines, the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction (the Ottawa Convention or Mine Ban Treaty), was adopted in 1997. Further, in order to prevent suffering and casualties caused by cluster munitions at the time of their use, the Convention on the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Cluster Munitions (the Oslo Convention), was adopted in 2008. In 1996, the Royal Military Academy (RMA) opted for the implementation of mine action technological projects funded by the Belgian Ministry of Defense and the Belgian State Secretariat for Development Cooperation. It further decided to set up a close collaboration with other Belgian universities, which started organizing their own research activities on mine action. Later, other funding sources were granted to RMA by the Belgian Science Policy, the European Commission, and the European Committee for Standardization. At a more politico-administrative level, RMA participates in the States Parties Meetings of the Mine Ban Treaty, and in this context, Prof. Acheroy created an expert group on mine action technologies with representatives of different organizations and countries, aiming at informing the States Parties of the Mine Ban Treaty about the evolution of the mine action technologies. Further, Prof. Y. Baudoin created working groups dedicated to robotics in mine action within international organization. This book reports research activities achieved by the RMA.s

Covering a wide range of topics concerning the dynamics of road and off-road vehicles, this Third Edition is filled with up-to-date information, including: * The Magic Formula for characterizing pneumatic tire behavior from test data for vehicle handling simulations * Computer-aided methods for performance and design evaluation of off-road vehicles, based on the author's own research * Updated data on road vehicle transmissions and operating fuel economy * Fundamentals of road vehicle stability control * Optimization of the performance of four-wheel-drive off-road vehicles and experimental substantiation, based on the author's own investigations * A new theory on skid-steering of tracked vehicles, developed by the author.

Book Computational Continuum Mechanics

Download or read book Computational Continuum Mechanics written by Ahmed A. Shabana and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-02-20 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An updated and expanded edition of the popular guide to basic continuum mechanics and computational techniques This updated third edition of the popular reference covers state-of-the-art computational techniques for basic continuum mechanics modeling of both small and large deformations. Approaches to developing complex models are described in detail, and numerous examples are presented demonstrating how computational algorithms can be developed using basic continuum mechanics approaches. The integration of geometry and analysis for the study of the motion and behaviors of materials under varying conditions is an increasingly popular approach in continuum mechanics, and absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) is rapidly emerging as the best way to achieve that integration. At the same time, simulation software is undergoing significant changes which will lead to the seamless fusion of CAD, finite element, and multibody system computer codes in one computational environment. Computational Continuum Mechanics, Third Edition is the only book to provide in-depth coverage of the formulations required to achieve this integration. Provides detailed coverage of the absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF), a popular new approach to the integration of geometry and analysis Provides detailed coverage of the floating frame of reference (FFR) formulation, a popular well-established approach for solving small deformation problems Supplies numerous examples of how complex models have been developed to solve an array of real-world problems Covers modeling of both small and large deformations in detail Demonstrates how to develop computational algorithms using basic continuum mechanics approaches Computational Continuum Mechanics, Third Edition is designed to function equally well as a text for advanced undergraduates and first-year graduate students and as a working reference for researchers, practicing engineers, and scientists working in computational mechanics, bio-mechanics, computational biology, multibody system dynamics, and other fields of science and engineering using the general continuum mechanics theory.

Download or read book Theory of Land Locomotion written by M. G. Bekker and published by . This book was released on 2016-10-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of Land Locomotion is a comprehensive source of the information now available on the relations between a motor vehicle and the physical environment in which it operates. It lays the foundation for a new type of applied mechanics by systematizing the accumulated experience of men who have worked closely with automotive problems over the past forty years--engineers, designers, technicians, and production men. The result is an integrated theory of land locomotion that will advance land transportation much as aerodynamics and hydrodynamics have helped the development of air and sea travel. Placing particular emphasis on off-the-road vehicles, the book discusses in detail problems of soil and snow mechanics; size-form relationships as an index of economy; terrain conditions; the process of moving tracks, skis, sleds, toboggans, rigid wheels, and pneumatic tires; static and dynamic behavior; and dimensional analysis, testing, and overall economy.
