Book Teaching Leaders to Lead Teachers

Download or read book Teaching Leaders to Lead Teachers written by Saran Donahoo and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2007-08-20 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TEACHING LEADERS TO LEAD TEACHERS: EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION IN THE ERA OF CONSTANT CRISIS In the 21st century, the perceived crisis in how schools educate students significantly influences the decision of teachers to move into administrative positions as well as their ability to succeed once they take on these positions. Influenced by the media, the community and the teacher’s lounge, many good educators are increasingly unwilling or simply unprepared to make the jump into school leadership and management. This book addresses some of the issues that affect school leadership by providing insights into the current state of educational administration in the hope of demystifying or dismissing some of the popular assumptions regarding what really takes place in the administration office. In doing so, this text examines topics related to the preparation and training of prospective administrators, factors that affect the process of leading in learning environments and perspectives on the state and structure of school leadership research and development.

Book Issues and Problems in Contemporary Educational Administration

Download or read book Issues and Problems in Contemporary Educational Administration written by Keith Goldhammer and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Major issues and problems facing public school superintendents were defined through an analysis of conferences and personal interviews with 47 administrators of various-sized districts in 22 states. Assisting the research team were personnel from 11 state departments of education, six regional educational laboratories, 36 colleges and universities, and the USOE. Findings of the study indicate that public school superintendents are apprehensive and concerned. Many feel their training was inadequate for the conditions under which they now work and question the value of the few in-service training programs available to them. They find it difficult to define proper actions for themselves and their school districts, especially with regard to educational change, teacher militancy, aspects of instruction, administrative leadership, critical social issues, and educational finance. Recommendations are made relative to the services which should be provided to superintendents by colleges and universities, state departments of education, regional educational laboratories, administrators associations, the university council for educational administration, and the USOE.

Download or read book Confronting Today s Issues written by Chad Prosser and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2019-12-10 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines some of the most important challenges facing administrators and other professionals in PreK-12 schools today: safety and security, hiring and evaluating members of the faculty and staff, dealing with students’ academic and behavioral challenges, assessing student performance, responding to disengaged or overly engaged parents, and handling external pressures from the community. It also explores ideas for how to design the types of school our students will need in the future and cope with the realities of trying to develop these schools in a difficult educational environment. Preferring practical advice over unsupported hypotheses and adopting clear, instructive language rather than educational jargon, the authors draw upon their own experience as well as some of the best research currently being conducted in the field of educational leadership. The book is suitable for self-study, workshops, education courses, and in-serve programs. The target audience is current and prospective PreK-12 administrators, teachers, student teachers, and staff.
