Loevy is currently Professor Emeritus of Cinema and Television at Tel Aviv University. Loevy was the son of Theodor Loevy, a journalist and his wife Elisa, originally from Poland. His father was the editor of the Danziger Echo, a prominent Jewish newspaper in the Free City of Danzig, who had been jailed for publishing anti-Nazi articles in his paper. Upon his release he fled to Poland, but that country later expelled him in the months leading up to World War II, under pressure from the authorities in Nazi Germany. Book The Israeli Connection

Download or read book The Israeli Connection written by Benjamin Beit-Hallahmi and published by Pantheon. This book was released on 1987 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author explains how Israel has become the arms dealer and military trainer of last resort, for everyone from Guatemala's murderous military to Mobutu in Africa and the Shah of Iran. It is, above all, in his eye-opening look at Israel's secret alliance with South Africa that Beit-Hallahmi illustrates the tragic situation his increasingly isolated nation faces today. He suggests surprising parallels between the way South Aftricans view blacks and the way Israelis view Palestinians, and in detailing the extensive ties--from nuclear-weapon sharing to military aid, trade, and tourism--he explores what this policy means for Israel.
