Book Advanced Network Technology

Download or read book Advanced Network Technology written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This background paper analyzes technologies for tomorrow's information superhighways. Advanced networks will first be used to support scientists in their work, but will soon be deployed more widely in business, entertainment, health care, and education. Significant progress has been made toward the development of gigabit network technology since the basic characteristics of the design of broadband networks began to emerge in the mid-1980s. No insurmountable technological barriers to the gigabit National Research and Education Network (NREN) appear to exist, as work in the testbeds (i.e., initial testing programs) is demonstrating. Testbed networks model the configuration in which the technology is expected to be deployed, in that test sites are separated by realistic distances and realistic technological applications will be used. Testbed applications research helps researchers understand how the NREN can be used to achieve science goals and as a testbed in itself, demonstrating technology that can be deployed more widely. The following topics are reviewed: (1) the Internet; (2) broadband network technology; (3) gigabit research; and (4) application of testbed research. One table and 17 figures illustrate the discussion. Highlighted points are summarized in 10 boxes. (SLD)

Book ISDN The Integrated Services Digital Network

Download or read book ISDN The Integrated Services Digital Network written by Peter Bocker and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present state of development of communication technology is characterized by two features, namely the digital representation of all signals transrnitted and processed, irrespective of information type - voice, text, data or images - and the integration of systems and services, this integration only being completely possible using digital technology. The boundaries between switching and transmission are shifting, and functions are being redefined and redistributed between terminals and communication networks. Multiservice terminals - unlike telephones, teleprinters, video data terminals - are designed to handle more than one information type. Lastly, the communication network allows voice, text, data and video information to be transmitted on the same circuit; the user obtains access to this network via a non dedicated "communication socket". The essential features of this Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) have been standardized over the last eight years by experts from all over the world under the aegis of the CCITT 1), the international standardizing body of the carriers of public communication networks. All the leading network carriers are working towards ISDN implementation because of the substantial benefits it will offer to users, network carriers and manufacturers alike: Users will obtain additional and advanced services, most of them designated to cater for the growth in non-voice traffic. The ISDN subscriber access will also enable users to operate existing systems more cost-effectively than via various dedicated networks.

Book ISDN Technology

    Book Details:
  • Author : J.R. Brewster
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9401115923
  • Pages : 135 pages

Download or read book ISDN Technology written by J.R. Brewster and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) represents the current position in about a hundred years of evolutionary growth of the worldwide telecommunications infrastructure. This evolution is by no means complete and the next few years will see the emergence of a "Broad-band" ISDN as the next stage of evolutionary development. It is important to appreciate the evolutionary nature of the telecommunications infrastructure if one is to properly understand much of the thinking that lies behind the current ISDN proposals. This book therefore begins with a number of chapters devoted to a study of the various developments which have eventually led to the concept of an integrated digital network. These include the development of digital transmission of speech using PCM and the development of digital switching techniques based on stored program control. The book then turns to a consideration of those features of the existing telecommunications network which need to be modified in order to make ISDN a realizable practicality. Of particular importance is the digitization of transmission over the links between the user and the local exchange. Next we look at the current practice and proposals for ISDN based on the technology presently in use in the telephone network. Finally, we look at the proposals for a broadband ISDN likely to become widely available by the turn of the century.

Book Home Networking Technologies and Standards

Download or read book Home Networking Technologies and Standards written by Theodore B. Zahariadis and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2003 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is a thorough treatment of distortion in RF power amplifiers. This unique resource offers expert guidance in designing easily linearizable systems that have low memory effects. It offers you a detailed understanding of how the matching impedances of a power amplifier and other RF circuits can be tuned to minimize overall distortion. What's more, you see how to build models that can be used for distortion simulations. A new measurement methodology enables you to gauge the amplitude and phase of distortion components and recognize memory effects. The book explains that by killing memory effects, it is possible to use simple linearizers, such as analog predistortion, and still achieve sufficient performance. You learn a distortion analysis technique that allows you to repeat the analysis with other amplifier structures. Including over 120 equations and more than 110 illustrations, this practical reference provides you with the assistance you need to create amplifiers suitable for linear transmitters, and offers you new views of semiconductor modeling.
