To understand the words of Isaiah we need help from the Lord. We need to learn the gospel plan and understand God's love. We can learn the history of God's work in days gone by. The Holy Ghost can teach us how He'll work in times to come. We can truly see, hear, understand, be changed and be healed as a result. An understanding of Isaiah comes by learning about all of God's truth. To know Isaiah's message is to know our place in God's plan as well. We have a role to play in God's plan to bless the world. God's wisdom is very great, his plan for us is wonderful. He knew we'd make mistakes so he sent his perfect Son. Jesus paid for all our sins, so he can cleanse our souls. Jesus died and was resurrected and so He has power over death. After we die we will be raised with a perfect body through the power of Christ. All who trust in Christ and follow His example will also be saved from the effects of sin. God wants all of us to live the joyful life which He lives. Once we are cleansed through the power of Christ's Atonement we can return to the presence of our Father in Heaven. We can inherit the same Heavenly Blessings that Jesus Christ has received. Through the Grace of Christ we can become perfect. It is God's plan for us to become as he is. The house of Israel has a special place in God's plan. God made a covenant with Abraham. Abraham was faithful and kept his part of the covenant. God promised that the children of Abraham will bless the world through priesthood power and love. Our Heavenly Father fulfills his part of that covenant every day. Isaiah is a Prophet who was called by God to speak the truth. Isaiah saw our time and so he knew the triumph of God's Plan. He lived during a fearful time when Israel was full of sin. His words bring hope to every heart that works to gather Israel home. God has been patient with the House of Israel so that He can show the world that his work and plan will ultimately succeed. God has still punished the wickedness of the House of Israel very significantly. God will not cast the House of Israel off forever as a whole nor stop trying to gather them in with love. This should give hope to every heart because our Father in Heaven is a merciful God. We only see a few moments in the New Testament where the Savior acts in righteous anger (such as when he cleansed the temple.) This may be one of the reasons the Savior wants us to study the Book of Isaiah. In the Book of Mormon Jesus said that we should search the scriptures. He then commanded us to search the words of Isaiah diligently. Jesus said that Isaiah spoke about all of the history of the House of Israel and that his words needed to come unto the Gentiles. Jesus also promised that all of the words of Isaiah will take place in the future just like Isaiah says that they will. (3 Nephi 23:1-3) Reading Isaiah's message will help us to see the complete picture of Christ. We see more than just the circumstances of his lowly birth and his meek suffering in our behalf. We also see the Savior as He will be when He returns to the earth to destroy the wicked and to bring the fury of God upon the nations.
