Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Lord’s recovery during the past five hundred years the church’s knowledge of the Lord and His truth has been continually progressing. This monumental and classical work by Brother Witness Lee builds upon and is a further development of all that the Lord has revealed to His church in the past centuries. It is filled with the revelation concerning the processed Triune God, the living Christ, the life-giving Spirit, the experience of life, and the definition and practice of the church. In this set Brother Lee has kept three basic principles that should rule and govern every believer in their interpretation, development, and expounding of the truths contained in the Scriptures. The first principle is that of the Triune God dispensing Himself into His chosen and redeemed people; the second principle is that we should interpret, develop, and expound the truths contained in the Bible with Christ for the church; and the third governing principle is Christ, the Spirit, life, and the church. No other study or exposition of the New Testament conveys the life nourishment or ushers the reader into the divine revelation of God’s holy Word according to His New Testament economy as this one does.

Book excerpt: Isaiah the Prophet (according to his prophecies) said more about Jesus, and what His mission would be than any other single prophet! And, in fact when Jesus began His three and half (3 1/2) year ministry in (Luke 4:14 through 4:30) He read one of many of Isaiah's prophecies (Isaiah Chapter 61) recorded about Him (Jesus). Now as we return to the time of Isaiah's prophecy, both nations (Israel; Samaria the Northern Kingdom) and (Judah; Jerusalem the Southern Kingdom) had replaced obedience to God with many other things; the most offensive to God being idols, and false god worship. They (the Nations) are caught up in idolatry and corruption, and there does not seem to be any indication of national repentance, and returning to the fear of God. This is the spiritual condition at the time, and God has judged the nations; even Israel's neighboring nations. Included of Isaiah's prophecy is that the sword (or war) shall be Israel's judgment. Even though God is not pleased with Israel, we also see that Isaiah's prophecies reveal the long term plans of God for deliverance and restoration of Israel. We have also learned, this deliverance is not for Israel alone, but for all of mankind through the finished work of the Son of God, Jesus. Isaiah's prophecy continued during the reign of four (4) kings in Judah, beginning sometime during the rule of Uzziah (or Azariah). Uzziah's reign started about 815 B.C.; lasted 52 years, and ended about 763 B.C. (2 Chron 26:1 through 26:3, 26:23; 2 Kings 14:21, 15:1 through 15:7). Hezekiah was the last king during Isaiah's prophecy. Hezekiah's reign was twenty nine (29) years, and ended about 700 B.C. (2 Kings 18:13, 20:6; Isaiah Chapters 36 through 39). King Jotham (2 Kings 15:32 and 33) and Ahaz (2 Chron 27:1, 2 Kings 16:1) ruled between the years of Uzziah and Hezekiah for sixteen (16) years each. The scriptures does not speak specifically of Isaiah's death, but there seems to be a consensus among some Bible teachers which says he was martyred by King Manasseh (reigned fifty five (55) years); son of Hezekiah. Whether this is factual or not, the (Book of Isaiah) does not mention any king of Israel beyond Hezekiah. In this attempt of our study of the Book of Isaiah, we have made comments available as we followed events; examine Isaiah's prophecies, and the influence(s) he had on the Kings of Israel for more than sixty (60) years!

Book excerpt: A profound exploration of how to hold on to hope when our unchanging faith collides with a changing culture, from two respected Christian storytellers and thought leaders. “Offers neither spin control nor image maintenance for the evangelical tribe, but genuine hope.”—Russell Moore, president of ERLC As the pressures of health warnings, economic turmoil, and partisan politics continue to rise, the influence of gospel-focused Christians seems to be waning. In the public square and popular opinion, we are losing our voice right when it’s needed most for Christ’s glory and the common good. But there’s another story unfolding too—if you know where to look. In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news. Join them in exploring profound stories of Christians who are quietly changing the world in the name of Jesus—from the wild world of digital media to the stories of ancient saints and unsung contemporary activists on the frontiers of justice and mercy. Discover how, in these dark times, the light of Jesus shines even brighter. You haven’t heard the whole story. And that’s good news.

Book Isaiah in the Book of Mormon

Download or read book Isaiah in the Book of Mormon written by Donald W. Parry and published by Maxwell Institute. This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of Isaiah' prophetic writings, the resurrected Lord taught, "Search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah" (3 Nephi 32:1). Yet no chapters in the Book of Mormon are more difficult to understand than the Isaiah passages quoted by Nephi, Jacob, Abinadi, and Christ himself. The 17 essays in Isaiah in the Book of Mormon take a variety of approaches in seeking to help readers make the most of Isaiah's teachings. The contributing scholars draw on the Book of Mormon prophets as knowledgeable guides, examining how and why those ancient writers used and interpreted Isaiah's prophetic teachings. They explain Nephi's keys for understanding the great prophet, use historical and linguistic information to clarify his meanings, examine recurring themes, and reflect on the influence of these texts on ancient and modern saints.

Book excerpt: Comfort, O comfort my people. . . In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord.' The second part of the book of Isaiah rings with proclamations and prophecies that find their fulfilment in the Gospels and are still being fulfilled by followers of Jesus today. In Freedom is Coming Nick Baines invites you to think about what it meant for people in Isaiah's day to be living in exile, and how the prophet encouraged them to keep their faith alive despite the apparent hopelessness of their situation. At the same time, this book helps you to see the connections between Isaiah's time and ours, and how his vision of God's truth and justice spreading throughout the world can comfort, challenge and inspire God's people now, just as it did back then. Read this book and find out how you too can become a 'light to the nations' as, once again, we approach the celebration of Christ's birth and the new world that God has promised to bring into being.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In every line of God's Word, there are volumes of wisdom and knowledge waiting to be revealed to His people. I believe that every book of the Bible has alternative meanings locked into them to put our Lord's wisdom into our hearts, while standing in its power timelessly. These do not negate, nor diminish, the obvious and literal meaning of the words of that book but are revelations into parallel meanings, revealed only through the Holy Spirit, much as Jesus did when speaking in parables or applying ancient Scripture to His time on earth. The book of Isaiah is a powerful Word which applied to the chosen people of that time, to the chosen people today, to the Gentile church of Jesus Christ, and to the nations of ancient times and these present times, which we are witnessing being brought low against the precepts of God by some of their leaders. It is up to the true Christian church in every nation to stand in obedience to our Lord, as the people of God worldwide join hands in the Holy Spirit and obey Him. It is my prayer that these messages will open the heart-doors of God's "peculiar people" ""the true church; each individual of which is chosen to be a spiritual leader in the true body of Christ, in the homes, communities, and nations of the world, through the power of the Holy Spirit, for such a time as this.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the major flashpoints in academic biblical studies in the past 125 years has centered on the authorship and dating of the book of Isaiah. Beginning in the late 1800s, some scholars suggested that this book may have been written by multiple people over a period of centuries, a view that contrasts with the traditional one that the entire book of Isaiah was written in the eighth century BC by the Judean prophet Isaiah ben Amoz. Because for many conservative scholars the latter position is the only one that respects the divine inspiration of the text, and because they also believe that this position is endorsed by Jesus in the New Testament, the differing conclusions of mainstream and conservative scholars regarding the authorship and dating of the book of Isaiah have long served to divide these groups. Bind Up the Testimony--a collection of essays from a colloquium held at Wheaton College in 2013--brings together a variety of evangelical responses to this issue. Although a few of the essays arrive at conservative conclusions regarding the authorship and dating of the book of Isaiah, most of them attempt to chart new, more nuanced directions for thinking on this subject, and suggest that careful attention to the (complicated) compositional history of the book of Isaiah need not be a hindrance--and can, in fact, be a help--to Christians who understand the book of Isaiah as divinely inspired Scripture that has spoken to God's people throughout the ages and that continues to speak to them today.
