Book Is God Done with America

Download or read book Is God Done with America written by Eric Carlson and published by Morgan James Publishing. This book was released on 2011-03-24 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the founder of a messianic congregation: A powerful call to fulfill America’s destiny by breaking down the barriers between Jews and Gentiles. America, drifting away from God and in a grave moral crisis, stands at a major spiritual crossroads. The truth of how this nation was founded and what its founders believed is being suppressed. Is America a Christian nation? Were America's founders Christians? Does America have a prophetic destiny? If so, will America fulfill that destiny? These questions and more are answered by Rabbi Eric Carlson in Is God Done with America? Based upon the “One New Man” of Ephesians 2:15, America’s spiritual DNA was established through a prayer spoken by the founding colonists of the Jamestown Settlement in Virginia—the birthplace and spiritual root of America. A portion of this prayer, exactly as it was written and quoted from the book Lawes Divine, Morall and Martiall for the Colony of Virginea, printed in the year 1612, was spoken twice daily: “And call in the Jewes together with the fulnesse of the gentiles, that thy name may be glorious in al the world, the dayes of iniquity may come to an end, and we with all thine elect people may come to see thy face in glorie, and be filled with the light thereof for evermore.” This prayer not only reveals a portion of Americas prophetic destiny, it is key to the restoration of contemporary America’s dying church. Is God Done with America? contains critical information regarding Jewish revival, the restoration of signs and wonders to the body of Messiah, and the reconciliation of Messianic Jews and Christians into one unified body.

John MacArthur gets to the heart of the matter by asking the questions most Americans choose to ignore: "Should God bless America?" and "Is America deserving of blessing?" Turning to the Old Testament, he presents the simple truth of God's word, his blessing has always had conditions. MacArthur calls the Nation to turn back to God by showing us how we can become a nation that is once again blessed by God.

Book America s Four Gods

  • Author : Paul Froese
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press

Download or read book America s Four Gods written by Paul Froese and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2010-10-07 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite all the hype surrounding the "New Atheism," the United States remains one of the most religious nations on Earth. In fact, 95% of Americans believe in God--a level of agreement rarely seen in American life. The greatest divisions in America are not between atheists and believers, or even between people of different faiths. What divides us, this groundbreaking book shows, is how we conceive of God and the role He plays in our daily lives. America's Four Gods draws on the most wide-ranging, comprehensive, and illuminating survey of American's religious beliefs ever conducted to offer a systematic exploration of how Americans view God. Paul Froese and Christopher Bader argue that many of America's most intractable social and political divisions emerge from religious convictions that are deeply held but rarely openly discussed. Drawing upon original survey data from thousands of Americans and a wealth of in-depth interviews from all parts of the country, Froese and Bader trace America's cultural and political diversity to its ultimate source--differing opinions about God. They show that regardless of our religious tradition (or lack thereof), Americans worship four distinct types of God: The Authoritative God--who is both engaged in the world and judgmental; The Benevolent God--who loves and helps us in spite of our failings; The Critical God--who catalogs our sins but does not punish them (at least not in this life); and The Distant God--who stands apart from the world He created. The authors show that these four conceptions of God form the basis of our worldviews and are among the most powerful predictors of how we feel about the most contentious issues in American life. Accessible, insightful, and filled with the voices of ordinary Americans discussing their most personal religious beliefs, America's Four Gods provides an invaluable portrait of how we view God and therefore how we view virtually everything else.

Book Christian America and the Kingdom of God

Download or read book Christian America and the Kingdom of God written by Richard T. Hughes and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2010-10-01 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of the United States as a Christian nation is a powerful, seductive, and potentially destructive theme in American life, culture, and politics. And yet, as Richard T. Hughes reveals in this powerful book, the biblical vision of the "kingdom of God" stands at odds with the values and actions of an American empire that sanctions war instead of peace, promotes dominance and oppression instead of reconciliation, and exalts wealth and power instead of justice for the poor and needy. With extensive analysis of both Christian scripture and American history from the founding of the republic to the present day, Christian America and the Kingdom of God illuminates the devastating irony of a "Christian America" that so often behaves in unchristian ways.

Book Taking America Back for God

Download or read book Taking America Back for God written by Andrew L. Whitehead and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do white Protestants in America embrace a president who seems to violate their basic standards of morality? The answer, Andrew Whitehead and Samuel Perry argue, is "Christian nationalism," the belief that the United States is -- and should be -- a Christian nation. Knowing someone's stance on Christian nationalism, this book shows, tells us more about his or her political beliefs than race, religion, or political party. Drawing on national survey data and interviews with Americans across the political spectrum, Taking America Back for God illustrates the tremendous influence of Christian nationalism on debates about the most contentious issues dominating American public life.

Book excerpt: How can YOU help bring hope to our nation? At a time when it seems that our nation is toppling over—morally, culturally, economically, and politically—you may be asking this question: Is there any hope for America? Dr. Tony Evans says YES. In America: Turning a Nation to God, Dr. Evans helps Christians understand that at the core, America's problems are spiritual. And, God and His rule are America's only hope. As His people, God is calling us to return to Him in humility and repentance, to submit to His rule and authority. Only as we commit to doing so, individually and collectively, will we realize that hope. We hold within the collective body of Christ not only the power but also the capacity to put our country back on the path of ascendancy. This straight-forward teaching, when embraced by believers in our nation, will usher in the greatest revival in American history.

Download or read book One Nation Under God written by Kevin M. Kruse and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The provocative and authoritative history of the origins of Christian America in the New Deal era We're often told that the United States is, was, and always has been a Christian nation. But in One Nation Under God, historian Kevin M. Kruse reveals that the belief that America is fundamentally and formally Christian originated in the 1930s. To fight the "slavery" of FDR's New Deal, businessmen enlisted religious activists in a campaign for "freedom under God" that culminated in the election of their ally Dwight Eisenhower in 1952. The new president revolutionized the role of religion in American politics. He inaugurated new traditions like the National Prayer Breakfast, as Congress added the phrase "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance and made "In God We Trust" the country's first official motto. Church membership soon soared to an all-time high of 69 percent. Americans across the religious and political spectrum agreed that their country was "one nation under God." Provocative and authoritative, One Nation Under God reveals how an unholy alliance of money, religion, and politics created a false origin story that continues to define and divide American politics to this day.

Download or read book Healing America s DNA written by Rev Bob Fox and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2004-06-01 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America is in serious trouble. Pastor Fox argues in this book that there is NO OTHER SOLUTION to the economic and security issues of America than what this book prescribes: deep repentance before God by American Christians for America's current sins which are rooted mainly in the Jamestown Colony founded in 1607. America's finances and national security are at great risk because the only Person who can really protect both is now disciplining America for its many sins--- as He did to His beloved Israel in the Old Testament. There is a way back to God's full blessing and protection. This book shows us how by describing the roots of America's sins and how the American Church can biblically repent for those sins. If the American Church repents, God will restore and protect America again--- as He has from the beginnings of our nation as II Chron. 7:13-14 clearly states: "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." The author writes in his Foreward: "We all also know that the bottom fell out of the US stock market in the Fall of 2008. America has not recovered from that and it will not until God sees sufficient repentance by His people for their sins and the sins of the nation. In a word, God is behind America's current economic and security problems. He has pulled back more of His blessings and is allowing us to fail more and more. This is how He treated Israel 2500 years ago in order to bring Israel back to Him. Their economy suffered and they were more vulnerable to their enemies. Only God can make a nation prosperous and safe (Ps. 127:1). He is doing the same thing now to bring America back to Him. Once the pain in America grows deep enough, His people will cry out in humble repentance to God and He will heal our land (II Chron 7:13-14) and bring a great revival that will sweep many in to the Kingdom. I hope this message encourages you in the difficult days ahead. America's pain has great purpose! I hope this book helps pastors and churches to prepare for a season of deep humbling before God. Only God can save America and He is waiting on His Church to do its part so He will do His part." May God bless America again when America blesses God, Pastor Bob Fox Virginia Beach, Virginia July 1, 2012

Book Taking America Back for God

Download or read book Taking America Back for God written by Andrew L. Whitehead and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-02-03 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do so many conservative Christians continue to support Donald Trump despite his many overt moral failings? Why do many Americans advocate so vehemently for xenophobic policies, such as a border wall with Mexico? Why do many Americans seem so unwilling to acknowledge the injustices that ethnic and racial minorities experience in the United States? Why do a sizeable proportion of Americans continue to oppose women's equality in the workplace and in the home? To answer these questions, Taking America Back for God points to the phenomenon of "Christian nationalism," the belief that the United States is-and should be-a Christian nation. Christian ideals and symbols have long played an important role in American public life, but Christian nationalism is about far more than whether the phrase "under God" belongs in the pledge of allegiance. At its heart, Christian nationalism demands that we must preserve a particular kind of social order, an order in which everyone--Christians and non-Christians, native-born and immigrants, whites and minorities, men and women?recognizes their "proper" place in society. The first comprehensive empirical analysis of Christian nationalism in the United States, Taking America Back for God illustrates the influence of Christian nationalism on today's most contentious social and political issues. Drawing on multiple sources of national survey data as well as in-depth interviews, Andrew Whitehead and Samuel Perry document how Christian nationalism shapes what Americans think about who they are as a people, what their future should look like, and how they should get there. Americans' stance toward Christian nationalism provides powerful insight into what they think about immigration, Islam, gun control, police shootings, atheists, gender roles, and many other political issues-very much including who they want in the White House. Taking America Back for God is a guide to one of the most important-and least understood-forces shaping American politics.

Book Do the Right Thing America Pay Your Debt God Is Watching

Download or read book Do the Right Thing America Pay Your Debt God Is Watching written by L Parker J and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2017-01-19 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In January 1865, President Abraham Lincoln approved Executive Order, Special Field Orders Number 15. It was an order carried out by the military to divide 400,000 acres of land or confiscated plantations into forty-acre parcels and give them to the heads of the former slave family. I am sure we have all heard of 40 acres and a mule. In April of 1865, President Lincoln was assassinated (only three months later). Vice President Andrew Johnson was sworn in and did not honor that executive order. Special Field Orders Number 15 was reparations for the recently freed slaves America had held in servitude and subjugation for over 200 years. This book spells out the justification, the ability to pay, and an actual plan to execute reparations for the children of American slaves.

Book Understanding End Times Prophecy

Download or read book Understanding End Times Prophecy written by Paul Benware and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2006-05-01 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians think of end times prophecy as a gigantic, intimidating puzzle -- difficult to piece together and impossible to figure out. But every puzzle can be solved if you approach it the right way. Paul Benware compares prophecy to a picture puzzle. Putting the edge pieces together first builds the 'framework' that makes it easier to fit the other pieces in their place. According to Benware, the framework for eschatology is the biblical covenants. He begins his comprehensive survey by explaining the major covenants. Then he discusses several different interpretations of end times prophecy. Benware digs into the details of the Rapture, the Great Tribulation, the judgements and resurrections, and the millennial kingdom. But he also adds a unique, personal element to the study, answering questions as: -Why study bible prophecy? -What difference does it make if I'm premillenial or amillenial? If what the Bible says about the future puzzles you, Understanding End Times Prophecy will help you put together the pieces and see the big picture.

Book God Is Alive and Well

  • Author : Frank Newport
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2012-12-04
  • ISBN : 1595620621
  • Pages : 288 pages

Download or read book God Is Alive and Well written by Frank Newport and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-12-04 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gallup Editor-in-Chief Frank Newport examines religion in America today, reviews just how powerfully intertwined religion is with every aspect of American society, and explores what appears to be religion's vibrant future in the U.S. -- all based on more than a million interviews conducted by Gallup since 2008. Popular books such as The God Delusion have dismissed religion as a delusional artifact of evolution and ancient superstitions. But should millions of Americans' statements of belief and their behavior be dismissed that quickly? The pattern of religious influence in American society suggests mass consequence rather than mass delusion. In God Is Alive and Well, Frank Newport, Gallup's Editor-in-Chief, provides a new evidence-based analysis of Americans' religious beliefs and practices -- and bold predictions about religion's future in the U.S. Most Americans are at least marginally religious, significantly more so than in most developed nations around the world. The majority of Americans believe in God and say that religion is important in their daily lives. And Americans routinely participate in religious rituals. Levels of religious consciousness are not distributed equally. Systematic patterns of differences in religion occur with surprising regularity. An American's religiosity is very much bound up with social position and geographic space. There is an important interplay between religion and life status factors -- age, gender, marital status, having children -- and with achieved status distinctions -- class, education, income. Those who are most religious are demonstrably different across a wide spectrum of outcomes from those who are not. These include lifestyle choices, social participation, ideology, partisanship, and views on political and social issues. Religion can be the driver for highly disruptive social behaviors, up to and including the taking of human life. Unlike citizens of any other country in the world, Americans group themselves into hundreds of distinct micro religious groups and denominations. These groups are constantly evolving, splitting like amoeba to form new groups. The most common pattern today is the development of the "no name" religious group, consisting of Americans who worship only under the banner of their own nondenominational predilections. These religious groupings are sociologically related to social status, geography, politics, and social and political attitudes. The emotional, non-negotiable bases of religion and the nature of its appeal to the most ultimate of rationales mean that highly religious Americans are one of the most potentially influential groups in society. Religious beliefs provide a foundation for much of today's American politics. America is and will remain a religious nation, and it is entirely possible that in many ways, religion will be more, rather than less, important in the years ahead. The foundation for God Is Alive and Well is the perspective of science -- analyzing what people think, do, and believe about religion. Frank Newport's distinction as a well-known social scientist and authority on American life, his media experience, and his unique personal history as the son of a Southern Baptist theologian will increase this book's sales potential. God Is Alive and Well is based in large part on more than a million interviews Gallup has conducted in recent years -- interviews that asked Americans about their religion, their religious beliefs, and their religious behavior. The resulting data provide an unparalleled and unprecedented database of information about Americans and their religions. Written for lay readers using a conversational tone, God Is Alive and Well presents new information with an entertaining style.
