Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Obsession pulls us towards our loving work. Discipline pushes us to do anything. Discipline is overrated. It feels tough, powered & pressured on our routine while true obsession is underrated. Obsession is merely a play, a great pleasurable play from our heart & soul. It doesn't need any perfect routine & our entire life is dedicated to it unknowingly. Discipline is visible with time. If you seek it you can't ever find it. Obsession makes time invisible. It may not be the best of the world but can give you the best feeling of the world. If you often tell yourself to be disciplined then you aren't devoting entirely to your work. It's like telling a gloomy man to become contented. What if I told you to stop being sad when you are sad! So, I can't say to myself, to be disciplined when I'm in my comfort zone. The most intense world's best personalities like Nikola Tesla, Plato, Aristotle, William Shakespeare, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Franz Kafka, Alexander the Great, Alfred Hitchcock, Stephen Hawking, Confucius, Michael Jackson or even Diogenes weren't focused on being disciplined but their obsession & that became irresistible as soon as they loved it. Diogenes once said, there is a false love that will make you something you are not. Suppose you were the last person on this earth, who would you impress? The world is divided between two kinds of personalities, consumed and energetic. If you observe, you will find a lot of people doing arduous work to live out their livelihood. They all feel their work tough and that's what our elders teach us; do the hard work. We all feel work is a burden and we have to do it even when we don't like it. What's the real secret of being energetic? Of course, energy can be faked. Truly, energy can be faked for so long until your mind bursts out and you feel extremely dissatisfied within your soul. Now, how to win the hearts of the audience? How to create the masterpiece that makes you eternal for life? Can you really make your life exciting by yourself? History is often remembered by artists and it's a great myth that we aren't artists. Everyone is an artist. It's not only the painters, writers, directors or musicians who are artists but everyone. If you aren't using your artistic capabilities in your work, you are pushing yourself slowly to get consumed. Irresistible Obsession, the book has carefully crafted thirty well-researched practical techniques for automatic discipline without knowing time & pain, skill mastery and finally work obsession to control your fortune. After researching, analysing history and learning about the world's best personalities, we feel, this book is insanely deep to assist you to find your own soul and the minute details of your most loving work. It's useful for artists, routine work, writers, creative people & most importantly, passionate people who want to live a fulfilled life. With insane techniques, the book, Irresistible Obsession will transform your life forever while making you into the person to reach and accomplish your goals with deep perfection, without making any hurry even with reasonable rest. In gist, it will bring out your best flawlessly even without giving you any pain. Focus is meditation; Multitasking is overrated; Motivation is void and irregular; Genius is overrated; & Interest and curiosity are underrated. A genius can also fail if he doesn't work honest enough. Affirmative, time is an illusion. Almost all people have enough time to shake the world. In this book, we are focusing on being irresistibly obsessed with our passion, so we can become your best, not someone else's best. Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. - Confucius.

Book excerpt: “Irresistible is a fascinating and much needed exploration of one of the most troubling phenomena of modern times.” —Malcolm Gladwell, author of New York Times bestsellers David and Goliath and Outliers “One of the most mesmerizing and important books I’ve read in quite some time. Alter brilliantly illuminates the new obsessions that are controlling our lives and offers the tools we need to rescue our businesses, our families, and our sanity.” —Adam Grant, New York Times bestselling author of Originals and Give and Take Welcome to the age of behavioral addiction—an age in which half of the American population is addicted to at least one behavior. We obsess over our emails, Instagram likes, and Facebook feeds; we binge on TV episodes and YouTube videos; we work longer hours each year; and we spend an average of three hours each day using our smartphones. Half of us would rather suffer a broken bone than a broken phone, and Millennial kids spend so much time in front of screens that they struggle to interact with real, live humans. In this revolutionary book, Adam Alter, a professor of psychology and marketing at NYU, tracks the rise of behavioral addiction, and explains why so many of today's products are irresistible. Though these miraculous products melt the miles that separate people across the globe, their extraordinary and sometimes damaging magnetism is no accident. The companies that design these products tweak them over time until they become almost impossible to resist. By reverse engineering behavioral addiction, Alter explains how we can harness addictive products for the good—to improve how we communicate with each other, spend and save our money, and set boundaries between work and play—and how we can mitigate their most damaging effects on our well-being, and the health and happiness of our children. Adam Alter's previous book, Drunk Tank Pink: And Other Unexpected Forces that Shape How We Think, Feel, and Behave is available in paperback from Penguin.

Download or read book Love and Pain and The Play Function of Sex written by Havelock Ellis and published by Library of Alexandria. This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relation of love to pain is one of the most difficult problems, and yet one of the most fundamental, in the whole range of sexual psychology. Why is it that love inflicts, and even seeks to inflict, pain? Why is it that love suffers pain, and even seeks to suffer it? In answering that question, it seems to me, we have to take an apparently circuitous route, sometimes going beyond the ostensible limits of sex altogether; but if we can succeed in answering it we shall have come very near one of the great mysteries of love. At the same time we shall have made clear the normal basis on which rest the extreme aberrations of love. The chief key to the relationship of love to pain is to be found by returning to the consideration of the essential phenomena of courtship in the animal world generally. Courtship is a play, a game; even its combats are often, to a large extent, mock-combats; but the process behind it is one of terrible earnestness, and the play may at any moment become deadly. Courtship tends to involve a mock-combat between males for the possession of the female which may at any time become a real combat; it is a pursuit of the female by the male which may at any time become a kind of persecution; so that, as Colin Scott remarks, "Courting may be looked upon as a refined and delicate form of combat." The note of courtship, more especially among mammals, is very easily forced, and as soon as we force it we reach pain. The intimate and inevitable association in the animal world of combat--of the fighting and hunting impulses--with the process of courtship alone suffices to bring love into close connection with pain. Among mammals the male wins the female very largely by the display of force. The infliction of pain must inevitably be a frequent indirect result of the exertion of power. It is even more than this; the infliction of pain by the male on the female may itself be a gratification of the impulse to exert force. This tendency has always to be held in check, for it is of the essence of courtship that the male should win the female, and she can only be won by the promise of pleasure. The tendency of the male to inflict pain must be restrained, so far as the female is concerned, by the consideration of what is pleasing to her. Yet, the more carefully we study the essential elements of courtship, the clearer it becomes that, playful as these manifestations may seem on the surface, in every direction they are verging on pain. It is so among animals generally; it is so in man among savages. "It is precisely the alliance of pleasure and pain," wrote the physiologist Burdach, "which constitutes the voluptuous emotion." Nor is this emotional attitude entirely confined to the male. The female also in courtship delights to arouse to the highest degree in the male the desire for her favors and to withhold those favors from him, thus finding on her part also the enjoyment of power in cruelty. "One's cruelty is one's power," Millament says in Congreve's Way of the World, "and when one parts with one's cruelty one parts with one's power."

Download or read book The Anarchist Encyclopedia written by Sébastien Faure and published by AK Press. This book was released on 2019-02-18 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an abridged version of the Anarchist Encyclopedia. The original was a four-volume compendium of anarchist thought and analysis compiled by the great anarchist activist and writer Sébastien Faure. Within its pages can be found articles on political, social, and philosophical questions written from every point of view within the anarchist movement and by many of the most important figures of anarchism, like Faure, Max Nettlau, Emile Armand, Voline, and Errico Malatesta. It is a perfect reflection of the openness of anarchism, an unequaled assembly of the riches of the movement, and an essential text that has sadly been unavailable in English. Although much shorter, our selection reflects the depth and range of the original. Abidor's lengthy Introduction provides historical context, biographical detail about the contributors, and an overview of political philosophies covered.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition contains three studies which seem to me to be necessary prolegomena to that analysis of the sexual instinct which must form the chief part of an investigation into the psychology of sex. The first sketches the main outlines of a complex emotional state which is of fundamental importance in sexual psychology; the second, by bringing together evidence from widely different regions, suggests a tentative explanation of facts that are still imperfectly known; the third attempts to show that even in fields where we assume our knowledge to be adequate a broader view of the phenomena teaches us to suspend judgment and to adopt a more cautious attitude. So far as they go, these studies are complete in themselves; their special use, as an introduction to a more comprehensive analysis of sexual phenomena, is that they bring before us, under varying aspects, a characteristic which, though often ignored, is of the first importance in obtaining a clear understanding of the facts: the tendency of the sexual impulse to appear in a spontaneous and to some extent periodic manner, affecting women differently from men. This is a tendency which, later, I hope to make still more apparent, for it has practical and social, as well as psychological, implications. Here—and more especially in the study of those spontaneous solitary manifestations which I call auto-erotic—I have attempted to clear the ground, and to indicate the main lines along which the progress of our knowledge in these fields may best be attained._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_
Download or read book Awakening the Ancient Power of Snake written by Dawn Baumann Brunke and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2020-02-04 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A look at the mythic, archetypal, and transformational aspects of Snake • Explores how and why Snake was transformed from esteemed advisor and guardian of ancient wisdom to a symbol of deception and evil • Examines Snake’s healing powers, its role in awakening kundalini, and its connections to dreams, shamanism, alchemy, and the Goddess • Shares transformational stories and practical ways that Snake can help us travel through the imaginal realm, gather treasure from the psyche, and shed outgrown aspects of self Entwined with human consciousness since prehistoric times, Snake has always been associated with transformation--from the shedding of its skin to the rising of kundalini energy. In ancient times, Snake served as protector and advisor to gods, goddesses, and royalty. But with the story of Adam and Eve, Snake became the enemy--a tempter and deceiver. How did this happen and why do humans continue to fear and vilify Snake? Inspired by a vivid dream of an immense snake that lost its tail, animal communicator Dawn Baumann Brunke investigates the interwoven history of Snake and humanity and explores how we can once again access Snake’s wisdom and harness its powerful ability to heal, transform, and awaken. Uncovering ties between Snake and Goddess, the author demonstrates how both were systematically suppressed millennia ago with the spread of a patriarchal perspective that valued mastery over nature, God over Goddess. Brunke reveals how myths that originally extolled the virtues of Snake and Goddess were refashioned, recreating their images as debased and untrustworthy. She explores why snakes show up in shamanic journeys and transformational dreams and how their unique presence in our world can serve as catalysts of change, truth-telling, and enlightenment. Examining Snake’s role in awakening human consciousness, Brunke considers the alchemical role of the serpent as well as Snake’s connections to ancient healing, modern medicine, and even the DNA molecule. She shares psycho-activating stories to help trigger transformation and provide graceful movement through the chaos of change. And she offers practical techniques to journey with Snake through inner worlds, to shed confining aspects of self, and to integrate experiences more holistically. Brunke shows how we need to re-embrace the ancient power of Snake to better support our return to a more balanced consciousness--one that reunites nature with spirit, sacred masculine with sacred feminine--as we strive for global change and personal awakening.
