Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did you know that Paul, the apostle to the gentiles, had never been an apostle? Did you know that Christianity had begun over 17 years after the crucifixion and had never been the religion of the apostles? Did you know that before 80 CE, no one had had any notion of Jesus having disciples, Jesus having made profound statements, Jesus having performed miracles, or Jesus having actually been seen alive after his crucifixion? And did you know that no one knows who the gospel writers had been? That their first audience had known their gospel accounts to have been aggadic fiction? And that it had been corrupt Christian leaders of the second century who had declared the gospel accounts to have been the authentic 'word of God' (even though internal evidence has always shown that they're not)? FALSE MESSIAH discloses a small portion of the information that a well informed Christian clergy has consciously kept from the awareness of their Christian congregations. For anyone who has ever been asked "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal lord and savior?", FALSE MESSIAH provides clear and irrefutable PROOF that the answer should always be an emphatic "No!" As an academic response to the dishonest promotion of religious-based ignorance, FALSE MESSIAH is a valuable addition to anyone's arsenal of truth and knowledge.

  • Author : G. A. Wells
  • Publisher : Prometheus Books
  • Release : 2010-11-02
  • ISBN : 1615923802
  • Pages : 258 pages

Download or read book Did Jesus Exist written by G. A. Wells and published by Prometheus Books. This book was released on 2010-11-02 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Wells argues that there was no historical Jesus, and in thus arguing he deals with the many recent writers who have interpreted the historical Jesus as some kind of political figure in the struggle against Rome, and calls in evidence the many contemporary theologians who agree with some of his arguments about early Christianity. The question at issue is what all the evidence adds up to. Does it establish that Jesus did or did not exist? Professor Wells concludes that the latter is the more likely hypothesis. This challenge to received thinking by both Christians and non-Christians is supported by much documentary evidence, and Professor Wells carefully examines all the relevant problems and answers all the relevant questions. He deliberately avoids polemic and speculation, and sticks so far as possible to the known facts and to rational inferences from the facts.

Book EVIDENCE FOR THE HISTORICAL JESUS

Download or read book EVIDENCE FOR THE HISTORICAL JESUS written by Gary R. Habermas and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2020-11-28 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The search for the historical Jesus is a hot topic in both popular and academic circles today and has drawn a lot of attention from national magazines, such as Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News & World Report. Further, the media has given an undue amount of attention to the Jesus Seminar's outlandish statements, a self-selected liberal group representing a tiny percentage of New Testament scholarship. Dr. Gary Habermas will address the questions surrounding the debate over the historical Jesus and show a significant number of historical facts about Jesus in secular and non-New Testament sources that prove that the Jesus of history is the same Jesus of the Christian faith. The author of EVIDENCE FOR THE HISTORICAL JESUS is Dr. Gary Habermas, author of the book, The Historical Jesus and about twenty other volumes. He received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Dr. Habermas is chairman of the Department of Philosophy at Liberty University. He has written more than 100 articles, mostly on the life of Jesus, which have appeared in scholarly journals and elsewhere. Herein you will learn why Jesus is one of the most historically verified lives of ancient times.

Book Unveiling the True Identity of Jesus Christ

Download or read book Unveiling the True Identity of Jesus Christ written by The Sincere Seeker Collection and published by The Sincere Seeker Collection. This book was released on 2022-02-23 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While Islamic theology differs from Christianity's, Muslims and Christians hold Jesus Christ in high esteem. He is a central figure in both religions, loved, admired, respected, and revered. Both Muslims and Christians believe in Jesus' virgin birth, ability to perform miracles and return at the end of time. However, both religions differ in Christ's nature and life occurrences. While Christians accept Jesus Christ as the divine Son of God, Muslims take him as a human and one of God's mighty noble Messengers sent to relay God's Message to his people, just as many past Prophets did. This book encourages Christians and non-Muslims alike to cross-examine what the Bible and Jesus Christ state about God, His message to humanity, the nature of Jesus Christ, and related concepts. If done sincerely, one should conclude that neither Jesus Christ nor the Bible teaches what the Church teaches today. One concludes that Jesus Christ and the Bible never mention Jesus Christ as the Son of God, part of the Trinity, nor did they teach the concepts of crucifixion, redemption, or permission to abandon the law of the Prophet Moses PBUH. Many well-intentioned Christians follow modern Christianity, a corrupted version of the teachings of Jesus Christ - those he never preached nor taught. This book provides irrefutable proof from the Bible and common logic that Allah is our Creator, and Jesus Christ was a Muslim and human Prophet sent to the nation before us, the Children of Israel. It provides irrefutable evidence from the Bible that the Revelation of Jesus Christ was tampered with by humans after his departure and that the Bible we read today is not the inspired Word of God. One must use their God-given gift of intellect and logic to investigate, ponder, and reflect without allowing their emotions and cultural biases to cloud their judgment, blindly following their Church. To my dear Christian, you must research and know the reality of Jesus Christ and his message so you may be guided to God, enter Paradise eternally, and avoid the ultimate punishment. Topics in the book include: Understanding the Concept of God Sending Messengers to Relay His Message Basic Understanding of the Similarities and Differences Between Islam, Christianity, & Judaism Who is Allah? Whom Are Jesus Christ and Mary PBUT? Whom Was Jesus Christ Sent to Address? What Was His Mission? Did He Come with a New Law as Christians Claim? Is Jesus God, Son of God, or Prophet of God? What does the Bible Say? Trinity Crucial Differences Between God & Jesus Christ Who is the Author of the Bible? Does the Bible Contain Errors & Contradictions? Pornography, Incest, & Immorality in the Bible Is Jesus Christ God Because He was Born With no Father? Christians Claim Jesus Christ is Divine, and his Ability to Perform Miracles is Proof The Bible Labels Jesus Christ as 'The Son of God' Son of Man' 'Lord' 'His Servant' 'The Father and I are one' 'For There are Three That Bear Record in Heaven' The Word 'Begotten' in the Bible 'I am the way and the truth and the life' The Role of Paul in Christianity and How He Destroyed the Teachings of Jesus Christ Paganism on Christianity Atonement Was Jesus Christ Crucified? Proofs that Islam is the Only True Religion of God Scientific & Mathematical Miracles, Quality & Eloquence, Prophecies, Predictions, Knowledge of Past Events of the Holy Quran The Prophet Muhammad PBUH in a Nutshell & Prophesied in The Bible & Other Scriptures Muslims are the True Followers of Jesus Christ Tawheed Was Our Father Prophet Abraham PBUH a Jew, Christian, or Muslim? Book Can We Trust the Bible on the Historical Jesus

Download or read book Can We Trust the Bible on the Historical Jesus written by Bart D. Ehrman and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 2020-09-22 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book features a learned and fascinating debate between two great Bible scholars about the New Testament as a reliable source on the historical Jesus. Bart Ehrman, an agnostic New Testament scholar, debates Craig Evans, an evangelical New Testament scholar, about the historical Jesus and what constitutes "history." Their interaction includes such compelling questions as: What are sound methods of historical investigation? What are reliable criteria for determining the authenticity of an ancient text? What roles do reason and inference play? And, of course, interpretation? Readers of this debate—regardless of their interpretive inclinations and biases—are sure to find some confirmation of their existing beliefs, but they will surely also find an honest and well-informed challenge to the way they think about the historical Jesus. The result? A more open, better informed, and questioning mind, which is better prepared for discovering both truth and contrivance. The debate between Ehrman and Evans along with Stewart's introductory framework make this book an excellent primer to the study of the historical Jesus, and readers will come away with a deeper appreciation for the ongoing quest for the historical Jesus.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Antiquities of the Jews is a 20-volume historiographical work composed by Flavius Josephus in the 13th year of the reign of Roman emperor Flavius Domitian. The book contains an account of history of the Jewish people, written in Greek for Josephus' gentile patrons. In the first ten volumes, Josephus follows the events of the historical books of the Hebrew Bible beginning with the creation of Adam and Eve. The second ten volumes continue the history of the Jewish people beyond the biblical text and up to the Jewish War. This work provides valuable background material to historians wishing to understand 1st-century AD Judaism and the early Christian period._x000D_ _x000D_ Titus Flavius Josephus was a first-century Romano-Jewish scholar, historian and hagiographer, who was born in Jerusalem—then part of Roman Judea—to a father of priestly descent and a mother who claimed royal ancestry. He initially fought against the Romans during the First Jewish–Roman War as head of Jewish forces in Galilee, until surrendering in 67 CE to Roman forces led by Vespasian after the six-week siege of Jotapata. After Vespasian became Emperor in 69 CE, he granted Josephus his freedom, at which time Josephus assumed the emperor's family name of Flavius. He fully defected to the Roman side and was granted Roman citizenship. Josephus recorded Jewish history, with special emphasis on the first century CE and the First Jewish–Roman War, including the Siege of Masada. His most important works were The Jewish War (c. 75) and Antiquities of the Jews (c. 94)._x000D_

Download or read book On the Historicity of Jesus written by Richard Carrier and published by . This book was released on 2023-05-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The assumption that Jesus existed as a historical person has occasionally been questioned in the course of the last hundred years or so, but any doubts that have been raised have usually been put to rest in favor of imagining a blend of the historical, the mythical and the theological in the surviving records of Jesus. Carrier re-examines the whole question and finds compelling reasons to suspect the more daring assumption is correct. He lays out extensive research on the evidence for Jesus and the origins of Christianity and poses the key questions that must now be answered if the historicity of Jesus is to survive as a dominant paradigm. Carrier contrasts the most credible reconstruction of a historical Jesus with the most credible theory of Christian origins if a historical Jesus did not exist. Such a theory would posit that the Jesus figure was originally conceived of as a celestial being known only through private revelations and hidden messages in scripture; then stories placing this being in earth history were crafted to communicate the claims of the gospel allegorically; such stories eventually came to be believed or promoted in the struggle for control of the Christian churches that survived the tribulations of the first century. Carrier finds the latter theory more credible than has been previously imagined. He explains why it offers a better explanation for all the disparate evidence surviving from the first two centuries of the Christian era. He argues that we need a more careful and robust theory of cultural syncretism between Jewish theology and politics of the second-temple period and the most popular features of pagan religion and philosophy of the time. For anyone intent on defending a historical Jesus, this is the book to challenge.

Book excerpt: Whether the issue of the day on Twitter, Facebook, or cable news is our sexuality, political divides, or the perceived conflict between faith and science, today’s media pushes each one of us into a frustrating clash between two opposing sides. Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly with others. Scott Sauls, like many of us, is weary of the bickering and is seeking a way of truth and beauty through the conflicts. Jesus Outside the Lines presents Jesus as this way. Scott shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. Jesus offers us a way forward—away from harshness, caricatures, and stereotypes. In Jesus Outside the Lines, you will experience a fresh perspective of Jesus, who will not (and should not) fit into the sides.
