Book Parts Selection and Management

Download or read book Parts Selection and Management written by Michael Pecht and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-03-11 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increase profitability and reduce risk through effective parts selection and management Corporations recognize that technology can be the key to fueling product design and development. But just as crucial-if not more-to a company's success are the decisions about when, what, and how a technology will be used. Few companies have failed because the right technology was not available; many have failed when a technology was not effectively selected and managed. Parts Selection and Management is a guide to increasing company profitability and reducing the time-to-profit through the efficient management of the process of parts selection and management. Taking an "eyes-on, hands-off" approach to parts selection, this guidebook addresses risk-assessment, decision-making steps, and subsequent management activities. The book covers everything from methodologies for parts selection and management, product requirements and specifications, and manufacturer assessment procedures to ways to track part changes through the supply chain, reliability assessment, and environmental, legislative, and legal issues. Written by a seasoned professional, teacher, and author in the field, the book enables companies to: * Employ effective risk assessment and mitigation techniques * Make an informed company-wide decision about parts selection and management * Choose parts to fit the functionality of the product and other constraints * Maximize system supportability by preparing for parts obsolescence * Improve supply-chain interactions and communications with customers and regulatory agencies to minimize time-to-profit Shedding light on a neglected but essential aspect of product development, Parts Selection and Management will give your organization the tools you need to avoid the risks associated with product use while promoting flexibility, innovation, and creativity in your product development.

Book Preindications of Failure in Electronic Components

Download or read book Preindications of Failure in Electronic Components written by J. W. Klapheke and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report discusses state-of-the-art information and techniques concerned with indications of potential degradation and catastrophic failure in electronic components. The objective of this survey is to present a comprehensive description of past, present, and future planned work on preindicators of failure for certain electronic components. This study is intended to provide basic information for future development in automatic checkout equipment. The following electronic parts were covered in the survey: semiconductors (transistors, diodes, and microcircuits), resistors, capacitors, inductors, computer cores, other items used in a computer, and vacuum tubes. Such items as wire, insulation, lamps, relays, and rotary devices were not considered. Precursors of failure have been investigated for electronic components but few have been identified at the present time. Most of these investigations were undertaken as part of programs directed at physics of failure, screening, or accelerated testing. The results of this study show that predictors of failure for semiconductors (transistors, diodes, and microcircuits) have received more attention than other types of parts. Current noise (l/f noise) and infrared emission profiles show promise as precursors that would apply to all types of semiconductors. Apparently computer cores and inductors are the least considered. Book Intuitive Analog Circuit Design

Download or read book Intuitive Analog Circuit Design written by Marc Thompson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-06-12 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reflects Marc Thompson’s twenty years of experience designing and teaching analog circuit design. He describes intuitive and “back of the envelope techniques for designing and analyzing analog circuits, including transistor amplifiers (CMOS and bipolar), transistor switching, thermal circuit design, magnetic circuit design, control systems, and the like. The application of some simple rules-of-thumb and design techniques is the first step in developing an intuitive understanding of the behavior of complex electrical systems. This book outlines some ways of thinking about analog circuits and systems that hopefully develops such “circuit intuition and a “feel for what a good, working analog circuit design should be. *Introduces analog circuit design with a minimum of mathematics. *Gives readers an intuitive "feel" for analog circuit operation and rules-of-thumb for their design. *Uses numerous analogies from digital design to help readers whose main background is in digital make the transition to analog design. *Accompanying CD-ROM contains PowerPoint presentations for each chapter and MATLAB files used in the text.

Book Filter Design for Satellite Communications Helical Resonator Technology

Download or read book Filter Design for Satellite Communications Helical Resonator Technology written by Efstratios Doumanis and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2015-01-01 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new book primarily addresses the needs of practicing RF and microwave engineers engaged with the design of distributed filters for telecommunication and sensing applications, with particular emphasis on the space sector. This is a contemporary and comprehensive approach to the design of microwave filters with helical resonators. The very detailed step-by-step approach used throughout the book allows you to quickly familiarize with the basic concepts of microwave filter design and confidently engage with the design of helical resonator filters. In particular, several examples that present the design of filters for a wide frequency and applications range would provide a very useful tool at hand for the filter designer. Presenting you with cutting-edge design guidance, this is a complete reference for helical filter design.
