Book Joint Enrollment Report 2014

Download or read book Joint Enrollment Report 2014 written by Iowa. Department of Education and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Iowa Department of Education collects information on joint enrollment in Iowa's 15 community colleges. Jointly enrolled students are high school students enrolled in community college credit coursework. Most jointly enrolled students enroll through Senior Year Plus (SYP) programs such as Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) and concurrent enrollment. Other students enroll independently as tuition-paying students, or enroll in courses delivered through contractual agreements that do not meet the definition of concurrent enrollment. This report consists of fiscal year and trend data on joint enrollment, including headcount enrollment, credit hours, student demographics, and enrollment by program type and offering arrangement. All data included in this report is taken from the Community College Management Information System (MIS) and confirmed by each college, unless otherwise noted. The following 15 community college profiles are included: (1) Northeast Iowa Community College; (2) North Iowa Area Community College; (3) Iowa Lakes Community College; (4) Northwest Iowa Community College; (5) Iowa Central Community College; (6) Iowa Valley Community College District; (7) Hawkeye Community College; (8) Eastern Iowa Community College; (9) Kirkwood Community College; (10) Des Moines Area Community College; (11) Western Iowa Tech Community College; (12) Iowa Western Community College; (13) Southwestern Iowa Community College; (14) Indian Hills Community College; and (15) Southeastern Community College.

Book National Comparison of Jointly Enrolled Students Factsheet

Download or read book National Comparison of Jointly Enrolled Students Factsheet written by Iowa. Department of Education and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 2 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document contains data from the Community College Management Information System and other sources with summative data on topics of interest. Data gathered through the Division of Community College's Management Information System (MIS) indicates that in the 2013-14 academic year 42,996 students enrolled in almost 337,000 credit hours through contracted courses (predominately concurrent enrollment), Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), and as a tuition-paying student at Iowa's community colleges. Compared to overall community college enrollment, jointly enrolled students accounted for 30.4 percent of all credit student enrollment. Approximately one in four community college students is also a high school student. Approximately 74 percent of jointly enrolled students were 17 or 18 years of age--not surprising given the majority of jointly enrolled students were in either 11th or 12th grade. High school students do have the option of enrolling through PSEO at a four-year public or private institution; however, the vast majority of students enroll in postsecondary coursework through concurrent enrollment at an Iowa community college. Comparing the population of jointly enrolled students at Iowa's community colleges to national data on two-and four-year public institutions clearly shows that Iowa community colleges lead the nation in the percent of students under 18 years of age enrolled in community colleges or in all public institutions, combined.

Book The Annual Condition of Iowa s Community Colleges 2012

Download or read book The Annual Condition of Iowa s Community Colleges 2012 written by Vladimir Bassis and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each fall, the Iowa Department of Education collects enrollment data from Iowa's community colleges on the tenth business day of the semester. The fall data pertain to the 2012-13 academic year (fiscal year 2013). This report is the only report on fiscal year 2013 until next year's "Annual Condition of Iowa's Community Colleges." Fall enrollment for 2012 was 100,519 students, a 5.2 percent decline from fall 2011. Since 2008, community college enrollment has grown rapidly, likely a result of the recession of 2008 and 2009. Table 2-1 displays enrollment figures for the latest five years. Enrollment fell at 12 of the 15 community colleges. More students were enrolled part-time (less than 12 semester credit hours) than were enrolled full-time. Students enrolled part-time accounted for 53.9 percent of total fall enrollment, compared to 51.8 percent last fall. The fall enrollment of full-time students fell from 51,107 (48.2 percent of total enrollment) to 46,354 (46.1 percent of total enrollment), a 9.3 percent decline, while the fall enrollment of part-time students dropped slightly (-1.3 percent) from 54,868 students in 2011 to 54,165 students in 2012. Although overall fall enrollment has increased more than tenfold since 1965, the number of full-time students as a percentage of total fall enrollment has steadily declined from 90.8 percent in 1965 to 46.1 percent in 2012. (Contains 272 tables and 105 figures.) [This data for this paper was compiled with the assistance of Geoffrey Jones.].

Book Fall 2008 Enrollment at Iowa Colleges and Universities

Download or read book Fall 2008 Enrollment at Iowa Colleges and Universities written by Keith Greiner and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a report of the enrollment of students at Iowa colleges and universities in the Fall semester of 2008. Following are highlights of the report: (1) total enrollment increased by 1.3% at Iowa two- and four-year colleges and universities as measured in the Fall semesters of 2007 and 2008; (2) resident enrollment, including online programs, increased 0.4% during the same period with declines in the Regent and non-profit sectors; (3) resident enrollment, excluding online programs, increased 0.1%; (4) dual and Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) enrollment was 10.9% of the total in September 2008, with 95.3% of that at Iowa community colleges; (5) since 1988, the percentage of full-time enrollment has shown a modest increase at Regent and non-profit colleges and universities, with a notable decrease at community colleges. The community college decrease is attributed to several factors including an increase in dual credit and PSEO students; (6) with the decrease in full-time enrollment at community colleges, there has been an increase in part-time enrollment: a reflection of the changing needs of many students for higher education opportunities; and (7) enrollment at for-profit online universities increased 68%. (Contains 2 graphs and 4 tables.) [This report was published by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission.].
