Book An Analytical and Experimental Study of the Ionized Flow Field about a Hemisphere Cylinder and Its Effect on the Radiation Pattern of a Slot Antenna

Download or read book An Analytical and Experimental Study of the Ionized Flow Field about a Hemisphere Cylinder and Its Effect on the Radiation Pattern of a Slot Antenna written by James T. Curtis and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A combined analytical and experimental investigation of the effect of stagnation region chemicalionization non-equilibrium phenomena on the aerothermodynamic and electrical properties of the flow field over a hemisphere cylinder at hypersonic speeds was conducted. In the analytical studies, flow field caluclations were made using several IBM 704 computer programs which account for finite reaction rate processes. The experimental phases of the study were done in the Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory 6' Shock Tunnel at a nominally constant velocity of 15,500 ft/sec. Measurements were made of the surface pressure and heat transfer, shock layer pitot pressure, and suface layer electrical conductivity on hemishpere cylinder models for a range of values of the stagnation region non-equilibrium scaling parameter. Book Inverse method and Method of characteristics Flow field Programs

Download or read book Inverse method and Method of characteristics Flow field Programs written by J. B. Moreno and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two flow-field computer codes are described. The codes were developed to compute the flow about blunt axisymmetric or two-dimensional bodies moving with supersonic speeds at zero angle of attack. Boundary-layer effects and a variety of thermochemical options are included. A pair of auxiliary codes for machine-plotting the flow-field results is also described.

Book Proceedings of the Third Symposium on the Plasma Sheath Plasma Electromagnetics of Hypersonic Flight Electrical properties of shock ionized flow fields

Download or read book Proceedings of the Third Symposium on the Plasma Sheath Plasma Electromagnetics of Hypersonic Flight Electrical properties of shock ionized flow fields written by and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of the unclassified papers presented at the Third Symposium on the Plasma Sheath-Plasma Electromagnetics of Hypersonic Flight. This symposium consisted of the review of progress in reentry communication studies during the three year period since the prior meeting. The program of this symposium on plasma electromagnetics of hypersonic flight involves a wide range of scientific disciplines, including electromagnetics, aerodynamics, aero-thermochemistry, plasma dynamics, electronics, and high- temperature phenomena. The papers were selected to explore as many of these facets of research, including the results of laboratory, flight, and system tests, as time permitted.

Book Similitude for Normal Shock Waves in Nonequilibrium Flows

Download or read book Similitude for Normal Shock Waves in Nonequilibrium Flows written by Ralph E. Thomas and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Similarity parameters are developed which govern the length of nonequilibrium zones behind normal shock waves. Non-equilibrium effects produced by both vibrational relaxation and dissociation are considered. The parameters can also account for arbitrary levels of free-stream vibrational energy or dissociation level. The validity of the parameters is examined using numerical computations of the properties of the non-equilibrium fields. These computations are made with the aid of experimentally based rate expressions. The parameters, when written in a form describing the variation of non-equilibrium zone length with Mach number, are shown to have acceptable accuracy. (Author).

Book Modern Compressible Flow with Historical Perspective

Download or read book Modern Compressible Flow with Historical Perspective written by John David Anderson and published by McGraw-Hill Science, Engineering & Mathematics. This book was released on 1982 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anderson's book provides the most accessible approach to compressible flow for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students and professionals. In keeping with previous versions, the 3rd edition uses numerous historical vignettes that show the evolution of the field. New pedagogical features--"Roadmaps" showing the development of a given topic, and "Design Boxes" giving examples of design decisions--will make the 3rd edition even more practical and user-friendly than before. The 3rd edition strikes a careful balance between classical methods of determining compressible flow, and modern numerical and computer techniques (such as CFD) now used widely in industry & research. A new Book Website will contain all problem solutions for instructors.
