Book Investigations on Wings with and Without Sweepback at High Subsonic Speeds

Download or read book Investigations on Wings with and Without Sweepback at High Subsonic Speeds written by Jakob Ackeret and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drag tests at zero lift have been made at Mach numbers from 0.7 to approximately 0.95 in the high speed wind tunnel of the Institute of Aerodynamics, ETH, Zurich, on a group of untapered wings of aspect ratio 3.25, having sweep angles of 0 degree and 35 degrees. For each sweep angle, a series of geometrically similar models was tested at a constant Reynolds number to provide a verification of computed tunnel blocking corrections. Tests were also made for wings having thickness ratios of 0.09 and 0.12 and the results compared with results predicted by von Karman's similarity law.

Book An Investigation at Transonic Speeds of the Effects of Thickness Ratio and of Thickened Root Sections on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of Wings with 47 Sweepback Aspect Ratio 3 5 and Taper Ratio 0 2 in the Slotted Test Section of the Langley 8 foot High speed Tunnel

Download or read book An Investigation at Transonic Speeds of the Effects of Thickness Ratio and of Thickened Root Sections on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of Wings with 47 Sweepback Aspect Ratio 3 5 and Taper Ratio 0 2 in the Slotted Test Section of the Langley 8 foot High speed Tunnel written by Ralph P. Bielat and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Four wing-body combinations of the same plan form (47 degree sweep, 3.5 aspect ratio, and 0.2 taper ratio) were compared at transonic speeds in the Langley 8-foot high-speed tunnel. Three wings were 4, 6, and 9 percent thick; the fourth was 6 percent thick but, on the inner 0.4 span, tapered to 12-percent thickness at the roots.

Book Preliminary Investigation at Supersonic Speeds of Triangular and Sweptback Wings

Download or read book Preliminary Investigation at Supersonic Speeds of Triangular and Sweptback Wings written by Macon C. Ellis and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results from a supersonic wind-tunnel investigation of a series of thin triangular and sweptback wings are presented. The triangular wing series consisted of eight triangular wings of vertex angles such that a range of leading-edge postions both inside and outside the Mach cone at the test Mach numbers of 1.43 and 1.71 was obtained. The three swept wings had angles of sweep at 45, 55, and 63 degrees and were tested at a Mach number of 1.43.

Book A Buffet Investigation at High Subsonic Speeds of Wing fuselage tail Combinations Having Sweptback Wings with NACA 64A Thickness Distributions Fences a Leading edge Extension and Body Contouring

Download or read book A Buffet Investigation at High Subsonic Speeds of Wing fuselage tail Combinations Having Sweptback Wings with NACA 64A Thickness Distributions Fences a Leading edge Extension and Body Contouring written by Fred B. Sutton and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation has been made to determine the effect of wing fences, a wing leading-edge extension, changing wing sweepback angle from 40 to 45 and 50 degrees, fuselage contouring, and varying horizontal tail height upon the buffeting response of some typical airplane configurations employing sweptback wings with high aspect ratios. The tests were conducted through an angle-of-attack range at Mach numbers varying from 0.60 to 0.92 at a Reynolds number of 2 million.
