Book Ignition and Combustion of Liquid Hydrocarbon Fuels in Supersonic Flow

Download or read book Ignition and Combustion of Liquid Hydrocarbon Fuels in Supersonic Flow written by Simon Slutsky and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental study was carried out to investigate the combustion of a liquid hydrocarbon (hexane) injected into a supersonic stream. Injection modes included wall and central injection configurations. Extremely rapid and intense heat release phenomena were obtained. It was concluded that this mode of combustion could be made to compete with that of pure gas phase combustion for many technological applications. A preliminary theoretical model of the combustion mechanism was constructed which accounts for many of the observed phenomena, and which explains the very rapid combustion characteristics.

Book Atomization of a Liquid in a Supersonic Flow

Download or read book Atomization of a Liquid in a Supersonic Flow written by M. S. Volynskii and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of the process of combustion in a high temperature supersonic flow is determined by the quality of the fuel atomization, in the engine atomization, evaporation, and mixing. The results of a study of the form of the torch of atomization and also the scale of the atomization in a supersonic flow are presented. An examination of the process of atomization is conducted within the frame work of an aerodynamically posed problem without a computation of the heat transfer and phase transitions (evaporation, dissociation etc.) It is assumed that disintegration of the liquid occurs very rapidly and the heat phenomena (in a number of cases do not succeed in influencing substantially the initial diameter of the particles (which later on, of course, are subject to evaporation).

Book Unsteady Supersonic Combustion

Download or read book Unsteady Supersonic Combustion written by Mingbo Sun and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-04-14 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the unsteady phenomena needed to understand supersonic combustion. Following an initial chapter that introduces readers to the basic concepts in and classical studies on unsteady supersonic combustion, the book highlights recent studies on unsteady phenomena, which offer insights on e.g. interactions between acoustic waves and flames, flow dominating instability, ignition instability, flame flashback, and near-blowout-limit combustion. In turn, the book discusses in detail the fundamental mechanisms of these phenomena, and puts forward practical suggestions for future scramjet design.

Book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Supersonic Combustion

Download or read book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Supersonic Combustion written by Antonio Ferri and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theoretical and experimental investigation of mixing and supersonic combustion is presented. A review of the problem under investigation is given. Then an analysis of inviscid flow fields with a finite rate chemistry for a hydrogen-air reaction is presented, an an analysis of a turbulent mixing for flows with large density gradients with no chemical reaction is presented. The analysis is compared wit the experimental results. Results of the experiments in upersonic combustion are presented. (Author).

This book was released on 1997 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Final report summarizes shortly main results of the quarterly reports and presents experimental results on self-ignition and combustion stabilization in supersonic flow using free recirculation zone. Tests are conducted at hypersonic facility TsAGI T-131B. Measurements are performed in a nearly matched supersonic jet at the exit of two-dimensional channel over Mach number range M=2.O-2.8 at stagnation temperature range Tt=1200-1400K. initial thickness of jet was equal 67 mm. Self-ignition and stabilization are obtained at Tt=1400K. Self-ignition was absent at Tt=1200K, 1300K. Thickness of free recirculation zone was about 25-30 mm.
