Chookagian was coming off a loss to Valentina Shevchenko, Antonina's sister, while Antonina had won her last two fights. This bout was significant as it could potentially lead to a match between Chookagian and Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight championship. UFC 285 also had a heavyweight bout between Blagoy Ivanov and Augusto Sakai, a female strawweight bout between Mackenzie Dern and Hannah Cifers, and a bantamweight bout between Eddie Wineland and Sean O'Malley. With these exciting matches and talented fighters, UFC 285 promised to be a memorable event for MMA fans.
