Book excerpt: Excerpt from Introduction to Business Organization This volume is an outgrowth Of a course of lectures on Business Organization and Manage ment delivered at the University of Wisconsin in connection with the courses in Commerce. There is no single volume covering modern busi ness activity from the point of view of organiza tion. It is, however, true that occasional articles in trade magazines and even treatises covering special phases Of business have recently come from the press. The growth Of this literature indicates a larger interest in the systematic study of business institutions and operations. The business man is fast realizing the practical helpfulness of these studies. The best firms are establishing trade and technical libraries and schools of instruction, not only for the training of their employees, but also for constant consultation in connection with Office and factory problems. Greater attention is given to - day to business efficiency, and several reasons have made this necessary, among the more important of which are business waste and misdirection. Every business man, although he may deny that there is a science Of business, will admit that there is a proper way Of organizing his business. This book was released on 2017-09-11 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Business Organization and Administration This book is written in the belief that there exists a need for a text which may form the basis Of a short course in the fundamentals of business administration and management and which will bring before the student. Those bigger business problems upon the proper solution Of which success in business largely depends. In some schools such a course may supplement the work in book-keeping and Office practice, while in others it may form an introduction to the more specialized and advanced courses in the field. Even a bare statement Of the most essential facts Of business practice is an ambitious under taking. Much had to be omitted which might have been included. In fact, the most difficult task in the preparation Of this volume was the elimination Of material. It is hoped that in this process Of trimming, nothing has been pruned away which is absolutely necessary to give the student a picture Of the most common business situations. Civilized man no longer gives thought alone to his physical being, but unfolds an infinite series of mental and spiritual wants which he bends his energies to satisfying. Download or read book Organization and Control Vol 3 written by Charles William Gerstenberg and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Organization and Control, Vol. 3: Modern Business Perhaps no step in the prosecution of a business is so important to the individual as the organization Of the ownership. While the application of correct principles of production, marketing, financing and accounting are necessary to insure success, they determine the amount Of profits the business as a whole is to have. But every man goes into a busi ness for income and the amount of his own income will depend not only on the amount of the profits of the whole business but on his own proportionate share of those profits. The division of the profits into shares depends almost entirely on the form of Organization. Moreover, when men enter business they hazard not only their time and a definite amount of wealth in the enterprise, but perhaps other wealth that was in tended to be kept separate. Indeed, embarking on a business venture may be but the beginning of the loss Of the income of future years when all chance of profits has ceased and the business represents nothing but a lot of debts that remain to be liquidated. Risk is an important element that is varied by the form of organization selected. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Introduction to Business Finance Classic Reprint

Download or read book Introduction to Business Finance Classic Reprint written by Bion B. Howard and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-09-09 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Introduction to Business Finance For some years now increasing interest has been evidenced among both academicians and practitioners in a new approach to the teaching of business finance. Both formal and informal conferences have been held on the subject at the annual meetings of the American Finance Association; various collegiate schools of business administration have experimented with new materials and courses; and quite a few finance texts introducing somewhat different approaches have appeared since the conclusion of the Second World War. The essence of the feeling among those who have expressed themselves in favor of a change from the traditional corporation finance course is that this approach is neither suited to the experience of the typical under graduate student nor consistent with the objectives of collegiate educa tion in business. The subject matter tends to be too sophisticated in na ture by being too concerned with the financing of large corporations. Also, by concentrating on the institutions and instruments of corporate finance, the standard texts and courses have been more introductory to the general subject of investments than to business finance. Since finance is one of the major administrative functions in business, along with production and marketing, it would seem reasonable to teach it from. The administrative standpoint. And since the beginning course in any subject should be generic in nature rather than specific, the sub ject matter should not be concerned with only one type of business organization, e.g., the corporation. The focal point should be that of financial management, the principles, institutions, and instruments of which might be transferred to any type of business enterprise and applied to any situation. Finally, such an approach is more consistent with that of other basic business courses and therefore is more easily compre hended by the student.
