Download or read book Introducci n al patrimonio cultural written by Francesca Tugores and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Entangled Heritages written by Olaf Kaltmeier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-07-01 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Relying on the concept of a shared history, this book argues that we can speak of a shared heritage that is common in terms of the basic grammar of heritage and articulated histories, but divided alongside the basic difference between colonizers and colonized. This problematic is also evident in contemporary uses of the past. The last decades were crucial to the emergence of new debates: subcultures, new identities, hidden voices and multicultural discourse as a kind of new hegemonic platform also involving concepts of heritage and/or memory. Thereby we can observe a proliferation of heritage agents, especially beyond the scope of the nation state. This volume gets beyond a container vision of heritage that seeks to construct a diachronical continuity in a given territory. Instead, authors point out the relational character of heritage focusing on transnational and translocal flows and interchanges of ideas, concepts, and practices, as well as on the creation of contact zones where the meaning of heritage is negotiated and contested. Exploring the relevance of the politics of heritage and the uses of memory in the consolidation of these nation states, as well as in the current disputes over resistances, hidden memories, undermined pasts, or the politics of nostalgia, this book seeks to seize the local/global dimensions around heritage.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Côte d'Ivoire, or the Ivory Coast, is a country located in West Africa that borders the Gulf of Guinea. It is known for being the world's largest producer of cocoa beans, as well as for its vibrant cultural heritage. The country is home to over 25 million people, with the majority of the population being of African descent. The official language of Côte d'Ivoire is French, although local languages such as Baoulé, Dioula, and Anyin are also spoken. Côte d'Ivoire has a rich history that dates back to pre-colonial times. The country was first colonized by the French in the late 19th century and gained independence in 1960. Since then, it has experienced periods of political instability, including a civil war that lasted from 2002 to 2011. Despite these challenges, Côte d'Ivoire has continued to develop its economy, which is largely driven by agriculture, including the production of coffee, cocoa, and palm oil. The country has also made progress in areas such as education and healthcare, although poverty and inequality persist in many parts of the country.
Download or read book Handbook of Research on Cultural Heritage and Its Impact on Territory Innovation and Development written by Oliveira, Lídia and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-11-13 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cultural heritage is perceived as the glue that keeps individuals together and makes them feel a part of something larger. It is the past that allows individuals to understand their present and move towards the future. In networked society, it is impossible to think about cultural heritage and its preservation and maintenance without including the digital processes and ICT systems, as well as its impact on territorial innovation. The Handbook of Research on Cultural Heritage and Its Impact on Territory Innovation and Development is a critical and comprehensive reference book that analyzes how preservation and sustainability of cultural heritage occurs in countries, as well as how it contributes to territorial innovation. Moreover, the book examines how technological tools contribute to its preservation and sustainability, as well as its dissemination. Highlighting topics that include public policies, spatial development, and architectural heritage, this book is ideal for cultural heritage professionals, government officials, policymakers, academicians, researchers, and students.
Download or read book Concerning Buildings written by Stephen Marks and published by Architectual Press. This book was released on 1996 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concerning Buildings has been prepared in honour of Sir Bernard Feilden CBE, a leading and outstanding practitioner in the field of the conservation and repair of historic buildings for forty years or more, having originally studied architecture as a mature student at the Architectural Association after the Second World War (he was born in 1919). The book was not, however, intended to be about him, except for a warm tribute written by Professor Patrick Nuttgens and a full bibliography of his works compiled by Keith Parker: its purpose, rather, is to cover a co-ordinated and wide range of conservation issues, theoretical and practical, and to be regarded as a reference work for our position and our achievements in the art of conservation today. The book contains a wealth of interest and a mine of information for all who are concerned about the present state and approaches to the conservation of buildings in all parts of the world. It will be especially useful to those who teach, those who want to learn, those who own and manage old buildings, and those whose job it is to look after them.
Download or read book Enhancement of Public Real estate Assets and Cultural Heritage written by Lucia Della Spina and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-01-21 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The management of cultural heritage and public real-estate assets is one of the most crucial challenges concerning the sustainable use of these resources, involving dynamic methods to stimulate preservation, development, renewal, and transmission to future generations of these essential assets. The contributions presented in this book provide a rich and varied panorama of research experiences and innovative tools, capable of promoting the re-use of cultural heritage in European cities and cultural landscapes, using a circular economy logic as a model of sustainable development. From this point of view, cultural capital becomes the driver of a regeneration process on the local, urban, and metropolitan scales, in which the transversal interconnections between the production cycles of the adaptive re-use of the available heritage, both in the adaptation and in the management phase, configure a circular process of multidimensional production of value. Therefore, future territorial redevelopment projects can base their idea strength on an open system of appropriately selected social attractors, whose enhancement and use have the objective of triggering widespread regeneration effects on the whole territory of influence, receiving inducement and resources to progress.
Download or read book Urban Mountain Beings written by Kathleen S. Fine-Dare and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2019-12-04 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urban Mountain Beings is an ethnographic and historically grounded study of recognition strategies and ethnogenesis carried out on the flanks of Mt. Pichincha in Quito, Ecuador. Kathleen S. Fine-Dare employs feminist geographical and Indigenous pedagogical frameworks to illustrate how histories of exclusion have created attitudes and policies that treat Native peoples as “out of place and time” in cities. Fine-Dare concentrates on two overlapping contexts for Indigenous vindication: the Yumbada of Cotocollao, an ancestral performance through which mountain and other spirits are called into the urban plaza; and Casa Kinde (Hummingbird House), a cultural organization that engages in workshops, filmmaking, photography, commerce, community education, and the formation of alliances with anthropologists, activists, filmmakers, engineers, and teachers.
