Book Classification of Infrared Spectra of Organophosphorus Compounds with Artificial Neural Networks

Download or read book Classification of Infrared Spectra of Organophosphorus Compounds with Artificial Neural Networks written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AERL/AFIT examined the use of artificial neural networks to classify infrared spectra of organophosphorus pesticides and chemically related compounds. The spectra used were contributed from commercial libraries, government agencies, and government contractors and include spectra of pesticides, industrial precursers, hydrolysis products and other organophosphorus compounds. The data were pretreated to reduce artifacts arising from the variety of collection sources. The treated spectra were divided into spectral "bins" of equal frequency width and transduced into data vectors whose elements consisted of the average absorbance value of the corresponding spectral bin. The spectral data vectors served as inputs to neural networks examined as spectral classifiers. Conventional feed-forward neural networks were constructed using the spectral data vectors as inputs and indicating the chemical class in the output nodes. Several training methods were compared for efficiency in setting the network weights and biases, from the standpoint of time needed to train the network and from the error frequencies obtained. Network architecture was also examined in order to obtain the optimum number of nodes to place in the hidden layers of the networks. Radial basis function networks were also generated from spectral input data and used to classify the spectra. The final classification accuracies and training efficiencies from these networks were compared with those from the feed forward networks. The radial basis function networks could be trained rapidly and produced numerically stable networks, but the network generation technique tended to produce large numbers of hidden nodes. The radial basis function networks gave the best classification accuracy obtained with neural network classifiers.

Book Classification of Organophosphorus Compound Infrared Spectra by Pattern Recognition Techniques

Download or read book Classification of Organophosphorus Compound Infrared Spectra by Pattern Recognition Techniques written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infrared spectra of organophosphorus compounds, including pesticides and a set of neurotoxins which have been banned from use by international agreement, along with their precursors and hydrolysis products, were obtained from a variety of sources. The data were treated to minimize spectral information related to the spectral origin. A common spectral wavelength range was selected and spectral data within this range were transduced into data vectors. Computer-assisted classification tools were used to classify the spectra as pesticides versus neurotoxins and their precursors and hydrolysis products. The performance of a k-nearest neighbor classifier for this distinction is compared with several artificial neural network classifiers.

Book Sampling and Analysis of Organophosphorus Compounds on a Thermoelectric Cold Plate Using Fourier Transform Infrared Emission Spectroscopy

Download or read book Sampling and Analysis of Organophosphorus Compounds on a Thermoelectric Cold Plate Using Fourier Transform Infrared Emission Spectroscopy written by M. R. Whitbeck and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents findings of work performed under U.S. Army Chemical Research, Development and Engineering Center (CRDEC) Contract No. DAAA15-86-0020, by contractor personnel in conjunction with CRDEC scientists. This research addressed the sampling of organophosphorus compounds from the air and their detection using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) techniques with computer-aided pattern recognition. Vapor samples from a thermoelectrically-cooled plate, typically used as a liquid aerosol collector, were examined to determine the feasibility of recording infrared emission spectra directly from the plate. A comparison of this method was made with gas chromatography/infrared (GC/IR) spectroscopy analysis of samples that were first removed from the plate. Keywords: Infrared, FTIR, Malathion, Infrared emission, Infrared spectra, Pattern recognition, Infrared transmittance, Cold mirror/plate. (jes).

Download or read book Investigation of the Infrared and Far Infrared Raman Spectra of Several Organophosphorus Compounds written by James R. Durig and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of the infrared, Raman, and far infrared spectra of a number of organophosphorus compounds was undertaken in order to provide information for determining molecular structure, helping to better understand the internal forces in these molecules, and making or completing vibrational assignments. The report presents a brief summary of the approach and results of the study, a listing of relevant publications, and a roster of scientific personnel connected with the project are included. • ISBN : 184755427X
  • Pages : 299 pages

Download or read book Organophosphorus Chemistry written by S Trippett and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organophosphorus Chemistry provides a comprehensive annual review of the literature. Coverage includes phosphines and their chalcogenides, phosphonium salts, low coordination number phosphorus compounds, penta- and hexa-coordinated compounds, tervalent phosphorus acids, nucleotides and nucleic acids, ylides and related compounds, and phosphazenes. The series will be of value to research workers in universities, government and industrial research organisations, whose work involves the use of organophosphorus compounds. It provides a concise but comprehensive survey of a vast field of study with a wide variety of applications, enabling the reader to rapidly keep abreast of the latest developments in their specialist areas. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
