The book also features: • The use of Internet tomography measurement in modelling support, through network simulation and emulation, for real network and service design and analysis, and new service deployment; • The exploration of spatial and temporal Internet performance variations by means of scenario-based analysis using real-time Internet performance data; • Aspects of Internet tomography in next generation wireless network – wireless NGN – architectures; • The role of ITMS in Service Level Agreement design, implementation and compliance.

Book Integral Geometry and Tomography

Download or read book Integral Geometry and Tomography written by Andrew Markoe and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2006 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of a collection of papers that brings together fundamental research in Radon transforms, integral geometry, and tomography. It grew out of the Special Session at a Sectional Meeting of the American Mathematical Society in 2004. The book contains very recent work of some of the top researchers in the field. The articles in the book deal with the determination of properties of functions on a manifold by integral theoretic methods, or by determining the geometricstructure of subsets of a manifold by analytic methods. Of particular concern are ways of reconstructing an unknown function from some of its projections. Radon transforms were developed at the beginning of the twentieth century by researchers who were motivated by problems in differential geometry, mathematical physics, and partial differential equations. Later, medical applications of these transforms produced breakthroughs in imaging technology that resulted in the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for the development of computerized tomography. Today the subject boasts substantial cross-disciplinary interactions, both in pure and applied mathematics as well as medicine, engineering, biology, physics, geosciences, and industrial testing. Therefore, this volume should be ofinterest to a wide spectrum of researchers both in mathematics and in other fields.

Book Artificial Intelligence in Cardiothoracic Imaging

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence in Cardiothoracic Imaging written by Carlo N. De Cecco and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-22 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of current and potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) for cardiothoracic imaging. Most AI systems used in medical imaging are data-driven and based on supervised machine learning. Clinicians and AI specialists can contribute to the development of an AI system in different ways, focusing on their respective strengths. Unfortunately, communication between these two sides is far from fluent and, from time to time, they speak completely different languages. Mutual understanding and collaboration are imperative because the medical system is based on physicians’ ability to take well-informed decisions and convey their reasoning to colleagues and patients. This book offers unique insights and informative chapters on the use of AI for cardiothoracic imaging from both the technical and clinical perspective. It is also a single comprehensive source that provides a complete overview of the entire process of the development and use of AI in clinical practice for cardiothoracic imaging. The book contains chapters focused on cardiac and thoracic applications as well more general topics on the potentials and pitfalls of AI in medical imaging. Separate chapters will discuss the valorization, regulations surrounding AI, cost-effectiveness, and future perspective for different countries and continents. This book is an ideal guide for clinicians (radiologists, cardiologists etc.) interested in working with AI, whether in a research setting developing new AI applications or in a clinical setting using AI algorithms in clinical practice. The book also provides clinical insights and overviews for AI specialists who want to develop clinically relevant AI applications.

Book Traffic Measurement on the Internet

Download or read book Traffic Measurement on the Internet written by Tao Li and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-30 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traffic Measurement on the Internet presents several novel online measurement methods that are compact and fast. Traffic measurement provides critical real-world data for service providers and network administrations to perform capacity planning, accounting and billing, anomaly detection, and service provision. Statistical methods play important roles in many measurement functions including: system designing, model building, formula deriving, and error analyzing. One of the greatest challenges in designing an online measurement function is to minimize the per-packet processing time in order to keep up with the line speed of the modern routers. This book also introduces a challenging problem – the measurement of per-flow information in high-speed networks, as well as, the solution. The last chapter discusses origin-destination flow measurement.

These groups are: invasive systems, electrodes are inserted directly into the cortex are used for single cell or multi unit recording, and electrocorticography (EcoG), electrodes are placed on the surface of the cortex (or dura); noninvasive systems, they are placed on the scalp and use electroencephalography (EEG) or magnetoencephalography (MEG) to detect neuron activity. The book is basically divided into three parts. The first part of the book covers the basic concepts and overviews of Brain Computer Interface. The second part describes new theoretical developments of BCI systems. The third part covers views on real applications of BCI systems.
