Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of the CRM Conference Series is based on a carefully refereed selection of contributions presented at the "11th International Symposium on Quantum Theory and Symmetries", held in Montreal, Canada from July 1-5, 2019. The main objective of the meeting was to share and make accessible new research and recent results in several branches of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, including Algebraic Methods, Condensed Matter Physics, Cosmology and Gravitation, Integrability, Non-perturbative Quantum Field Theory, Particle Physics, Quantum Computing and Quantum Information Theory, and String/ADS-CFT. There was also a special session in honour of Decio Levi. The volume is divided into sections corresponding to the sessions held during the symposium, allowing the reader to appreciate both the homogeneity and the diversity of mathematical tools that have been applied in these subject areas. Several of the plenary speakers, who are internationally recognized experts in their fields, have contributed reviews of the main topics to complement the original contributions. .
Download or read book Heavy Flavours written by A J Buras and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992-11-26 with total page 803 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of review articles on the most outstanding topics in heavy flavour physics. All the authors have made significant contributions to this field. The book reviews in detail the theoretical structure of heavy flavour physics within the Standard Model and its confrontation with existing experimental data. The physics of the top quark and of the Higgs play an important role in this volume. Beginning with radiative electroweak corrections and their impressive tests at LEP and hadron colliders, the book summarizes the present status of quark mixing, CP violation and rare decays. The dynamics of exclusive D- and B-meson decays, the τ-lepton physics and the newly discovered heavy quark symmetries are discussed in detail. The impact of strong interactions on weak decays is clearly visible in many articles. The physics of heavy flavours at LEP, HERA and hadron colliders constitutes an important part of the book. Another significant topic is the possible role of heavy flavours in the spontaneous symmetry breaking of gauge symmetries. Finally the most recent advances in lattice calculations of the properties of heavy flavours and the lattice studies of the dynamics of heavy flavours are presented.

The prevalent thermodynamic principles and concepts have applications across a range of fields such as chemical engineering, industrial ecology, physical chemistry, etc. The data collated in this book provides in-depth knowledge about the modern theories of thermodynamics. The extensive content herein will be helpful for those who want to broaden the expanse of their knowledge in this area of study.
Download or read book Many Core Computing written by Bashir M. Al-Hashimi and published by Institution of Engineering and Technology. This book was released on 2019-05-31 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computing has moved away from a focus on performance-centric serial computation, instead towards energy-efficient parallel computation. This provides continued performance increases without increasing clock frequencies, and overcomes the thermal and power limitations of the dark-silicon era. As the number of parallel cores increases, we transition into the many-core computing era. There is considerable interest in developing methods, tools, architectures and applications to support many-core computing.

Download or read book International Workshop on Early Physics with Heavy Ion Collisions at the LHC written by Domenica Elia and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2012-04-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The workshop brought together experimentalists and theorists to discuss the results of the first measurements with heavy-ion collisions provided by the LHC at the end of 2010. Results from ALICE, ATLAS and CMS were presented, as well as contributions from experiments at RHIC. The discussion was focused on the comparison with results from proton-proton collisions and heavy-ion data at lower energies, as well as with model predictions to discriminate between competing scenarios of particle production in ultra-relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions. The main aim of the workshop was to refine the perspectives and guide the future studies on the physics with the heavy-ion collisions which will be provided by the LHC in the coming years.

This book was released on 2009-04-14 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On September 27 – October 3, 2008 the NATO Advanced Research Workshop (ARW) on progress in high-energy physics and nuclear safety was held in Yalta, Crimea (see: http://crimea.bitp.kiev.ua and http://arw.bitp.kiev.ua). Nearly 50 leading experts in high-energy and nuclear physics from Eastern and Western Europe as well as from North America participated at the Workshop. The topics of the ARW covered recent results of theoretical and experimental studies in high-energy physics, accelerator, detection and nuclear technologies, as well as problems of nuclear safety in high-energy experimentation and in nuclear - dustry. The forthcoming experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN and cosmic-ray experiments were among the topics of the ARW. An important aspect of the Workshop was the scienti?c collaboration between nuclear physicists from East and West, especially in the ?eld of nuclear safety. The present book contains a selection of invited talks presented at the ARW. The papers are grouped in two parts.

Download or read book High Energy Physics and Nuclear Structure written by S. Devons and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 898 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In preparing the program for this Conference, the third in the series, it soon became evident that it was not possible to in clude in a conference of reasonable duration all the topics that might be subsumed under the broad title, "High Energy Physics and Nuclear Structure. " From their initiation, in 1963, it has been as much the aim of these Conferences to provide some bridges between the steadily separating domains of particle and nuclear physics, as to explore thoroughly the borderline territory between the two - the sort of no-man's-land that lies unclaimed, or claimed by both sides. The past few years have witnessed the rapid development of many new routes connecting the two major areas of 'elementary par ticles' and 'nuclear structure', and these now spread over a great expanse of physics, logically perhaps including the whole of both subjects. (As recently as 1954, an International Conference on 'Nuclear and Meson Physics' did, in fact, embrace both fields!) Since it is not now possible to traverse, in one Conference, this whole network of connections, still less to explore the entire ter ritory it covers, the choice of topics has to be in some degree arbitrary. It is hoped that ours has served the purpose of fairly exemplifying many areas where physicists, normally separated by their diverse interests, can find interesting and important topics which bring them together.
