Download or read book Foundations of Stress Waves written by Lili Wang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-26 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary objective of Foundations of Stress Waves is to give the reader an understanding of stress wave behaviour while taking into account the dynamic constitutive equations of elastic-plastic solids. The author has combined a 'materials characteristics' approach with a 'singularity surface' approach in this work, which readers will find to be a novel and unique route to solving their problems. - Helps engineers understand the effects and behavior of stress waves in various materials - Aids in the process of engineering design, testing, and evaluation

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the subject of wave propagation in solids has a long history, the classical theory of elastic waves having been developed in the nine teenth century by STOKES, POISSON, RAYLEIGH and KELVIN, the last two decades have seen a remarkable revival of interest in this subject among both theoreticians and experimenters. There' are a number of reasons for this; first, experimental methods for the generation and detection of high frequency mechanical waves have become available only with the advent of electronic techniques and of high speed photo graphic recording apparatus. Secondly, the appearan
Download or read book Nuclear Science Abstracts written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 900 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.

Download or read book Rapid Penetration into Granular Media written by Magued Iskander and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid Penetration into Granular Media: Visualizing the Fundamental Physics of Rapid Penetration introduces readers to the variety of methods developed to visualize, observe, and model the rapid penetration of natural and man-made projectiles into earth materials while providing seasoned practitioners with a standard reference that showcases the topic's most recent developments in research and application. There has been a flurry of recently funded research both in the U.S. and Europe on studying the behavior of projectiles in granular media. This book compiles the findings of recent research on the subject and outlines the fundamental physics of rapid earth penetration, and assembles a comprehensive collection of experimental and numerical techniques to study the problem. - Presents a comprehensive interdisciplinary review of the latest research developments in the response of granular media to impact and impulsive loading - Combines the experience of prominent researchers from different disciplines focusing on the challenges presented by impact loading of granular media - Introduces recently developed methods for visualizing the fundamental physics of rapid penetration into granular media

Download or read book Shock Waves and High Strain Rate Phenomena in Metals written by Mare Meyers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1084 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scientific understanding of high-velocity deformation has advanced substantially during the past decade. On the one hand, the framework for a theory explaining the metallurgical effects of shock waves is beginning to take shape; on the other hand, the technological applications of high strain-rate processes have found their way into industries in countries around the world. Ex plosive cladding, welding, forming, compaction and consolidation, cutting, and hardening, in addition to high energy-rate deformation processes using other energy sources, are some of the topics of contemporary technological importance. Metallurgical effects are of the utmost importance in both the scientific understanding of the phenomena involved, and in the successful development and utilization of the associated applications. The international conference upon which this book is based had as its major objectives the acceleration of progress in the field of high-strain rate deformation and fabrication, including applications, by providing a forum for the exchange of state-of-the art information on the metallurgical effects of high strain-rate deformation and fabrication; and the organization of this informa tion into a timely and coherent body of knowledge focused around significant areas and applications. This volume is a manifestation of these objectives. In addition, the contents of this book were organized to provide for a somewhat logical perspective of the fundamentals, development, and state-of-the-art applications of high strain-rate and shock phenomena.
