Book Solid State Ionics Proceedings Of The 3rd Asian Conference On

Download or read book Solid State Ionics Proceedings Of The 3rd Asian Conference On written by B V R Chowdari and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992-10-09 with total page 794 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes the proceedings of an up-to-date and comprehensive meeting devoted to the question whether baryon number violation can occur — in the standard model of weak and electromagnetic interactions — at rates which can be relevant to cosmology and particle experiment. There has been a great deal of activity and many new results in the past year, and the meeting was the first occasion for a review of the field. It is the only source in which all the work in this field is reviewed in a single volume. As such, it would provide a useful reference for graduate students and researchers wanting to learn more about this area.

Book Applications of Electroactive Polymers

Download or read book Applications of Electroactive Polymers written by Bruno Scrosati and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1993-05-31 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electroactive polymers have been the object of increasing academic and industrial interest and in the past ten to fifteen years substantial progress has been achieved in the development and the characterization of this important new class of conducting materials. These materials are usually classified in two large groups, according to the mode of their electric transport. One group includes polymers having transport almost exclusively of the ionic type and they are often called 'polymer electrolytes' or, in a broader way, 'polymer ionics'. The other group includes polymeric materials where the transport mechanism is mainly electronic in nature and which are commonly termed 'conducting polymers'. Ionically conducting polymers or polymer ionics may be typically described as polar macromolecular solids in which one or more of a wide range of salts has been dissolved. The most classic example is the combina tion of poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, and lithium salts, LiX. These PEO-LiX polymer ionics were first described and proposed for applications just over ten years ago. The practical relevance of these new materials was im mediately recognized and in the course of a few years the field expanded tremendously with the involvement of many academic and industrial lab oratories. Following this diversified research activity, the ionic transport mechanism in polymer ionics was soon established and this has led to the development of new host polymers of various types, new salts and advanced polymer architectures which have enabled room temperature conductivity to be raised by several orders of magnitude.

Book Proceedings of the 8th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics

Download or read book Proceedings of the 8th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics written by B. V. R. Chowdari and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002 with total page 903 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a comprehensive collection of state-of-the-art advances in the field of solid state ionic materials and the design, fabrication and performance of devices that use them, such as lithium batteries, gas sensors, fuel cells, supercapacitors and electrochromic displays. These electrochemical devices are becoming pervasive in our technologically driven lifestyles. The book includes research activities being carried out in the new millennium, through special keynote addresses, as well as invited and contributed papers, related to experimental and theoretical modeling in solid state ionics. The excellent coverage of topics arranged in such a fashion helps students and beginners to understand the field with enthusiasm. It also encompasses various experimental techniques often employed in solid state ionics research, such as XRD, XPS, hole-burning spectroscopy, EDAX, EXAFS, SEM, thermal analysis techniques, ac-impedance spectroscopy and other electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic and potentiostatic electrochemical techniques. Theoretical and applied aspects of mixed conduction for applications mainly in solid oxide fuel cells occupy a portion of the text. Finally, this volume demonstrates the amount of research activities being carried out in this application-oriented field.Solid State Ionics will be of interest to all in the solid state ionics community, including chemists, physicists, materials scientists and electrochemists, both in industry and in research.
