Download or read book Macrocyclic Chemistry written by K. Gloe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-05 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Macrocyclic Chemistry: Current Trends and Future Perspectives illustrates essential concepts in this expanding research field covering both basic and applied studies. Written by well-known experts from around the world, the topics of the chapters range from new macrocyclic architectures with different functions and self-assembly processes through to the modeling and dynamics of such systems. The content also reflects on application possibilities in analytical chemistry, separation processes, material preparation and medicine. Thus this book serves as a creative source of research strategies and methodic tools. Providing an excellent overview of the field, this book will be a valuable resource for researchers in industry and academic institutions as well as for teachers of science and graduate students. This book is devoted to the long-standing tradition of the International Symposia on Macrocyclic Chemistry (ISMC) and published to coincide with the 30th meeting, Dresden, Germany.

Download or read book Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry written by Reed M. Izatt and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-05-31 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book commemorates the 25th anniversary of the International Izatt-Christensen Award in Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry. The award, one of the most prestigious of small awards in chemistry, recognizes excellence in the developing field of macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry: How Izatt-Christensen Award Winners Shaped the Field features chapters written by the award recipients who provide unique perspectives on the spectacular growth in these expanding and vibrant fields of chemistry over the past half century, and on the role of these awardees in shaping this growth. During this time there has been an upsurge of interest in the design, synthesis and characterization of increasingly more complex macrocyclic ligands and in the application of this knowledge to understanding molecular recognition processes in host-guest chemistry in ways that were scarcely envisioned decades earlier. In October 2016, Professor Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Sir J. Fraser Stoddart (author for chapter 22 "Contractile and Extensile Molecular Systems: Towards Molecular Muscles" by Jean -Pierre Sauvage, Vincent Duplan, and Frédéric Niess and 20 "Serendipity" by Paul R. McGonigal and J. Fraser Stoddart respectively) were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry alongside fellow Wiley author Bernard Feringa, for the design and synthesis of molecular machines.
Download or read book Inclusion Phenomena and Molecular Recognition written by J. Atwood and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fifth International Symposium on Inclusion Phenomena and Molecular Recognition was held September 18-23, 1988 at Orange Beach, Alabama. This followed previous very successful symposia in Warsaw (1980), Parma (1982), Tokyo (1984), and Lancaster (1986). The overall tone of the event at Orange Beach was expressed elegantly by Fraser Stoddart at the close of his lecture: "At a meeting like this, I think we should be asking ourselves more openly where we have come from and where we are going to. I am certainly willing to put my head on the block. Chemistry, as I see it, is entering a golden age of opportunity and those of us here who respond to the multidisciplinary challenge of the subject will perhaps start the movement to reunite the chemical sciences for the fIrst time in more than a century. Given the recognition granted through Charles Pedersen, Donald Cram, and Jean-Marie Lehn to our field from Stockholm last year, there are many here who are surely poised - if they have not already done so - to capture the academic high ground and intellectual leadership of our subject. And what is more - it will be on the back of our fundamental science that many of the exciting technological advances of the twenty-first century will be forged. " In order to capture the flavor and excitement of the symposium, herein we present reviews by thirty-eight of the invited lecturers. The program was shaped by the Program Committee: Jerry L. Atwood, Richard A.

Download or read book Community and Identity in Contemporary Technosciences written by Karen Kastenhofer and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-22 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access edited book provides new thinking on scientific identity formation. It thoroughly interrogates the concepts of community and identity, including both historical and contemporaneous analyses of several scientific fields. Chapters examine whether, and how, today’s scientific identities and communities are subject to fundamental changes, reacting to tangible shifts in research funding as well as more intangible transformations in our society’s understanding and expectations of technoscience. In so doing, this book reinvigorates the concept of scientific community. Readers will discover empirical analyses of newly emerging fields such as synthetic biology, systems biology and nanotechnology, and accounts of the evolution of theoretical conceptions of scientific identity and community. With inspiring examples of technoscientific identity work and community constellations, along with thought-provoking hypotheses and discussion, the work has a broad appeal. Those involved in science governance will benefit particularly from this book, and it has much to offer those in scholarly fields including sociology of science, science studies, philosophy of science and history of science, as well as teachers of science and scientists themselves.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapidly growing number of papers and patents on Cyclodextrins and their potential or actual industrial uses raised the idea to organize a Symposium on Cyclodextrins. This Symposium - held in September 1981 in Budapest, with more than 200 participants from 17 countries - proved to be very succesfull in every respect, therefore it has been accepted unanimously to organize the lInd CD-Symposium in 1984, in Tokyo. (The Budapest-Symposium got posteriorly the "First" adjective). The IInd Symposium was held together with the III. Int. Symposium on Chlatrate Compounds and Molecular Inclusion Phenomena. The IIIrd CD-Symposium also was held as a Joint Symposium, with the IVth. Chlatrate Symposium in Lancaster, U. K. ,1986. The limited time however showed, that such a broad field - from calixarenes to zeolites - can not be managed efficiently. Therefore the International Organizing Committee voted for separation of two Symposia in the future. The IVth Int. CD-Symposium was held in the Munich, in April 1988, and the Vth Chlatrate Symposium (called already Vth Int. Symposium on Inclusion Phenomena and Molecular Recognition) was held in Alabama, Sept. 1988. In Munich 220 participants from 21 countries attended 32 verbal lectures and 54 posters. This volume contains the submitted 71 manuscripts of the IVth Cyclodextrin Symposium.
