This book was released on 2004 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Symposium on Astrophysics Research and on the Dialogue between Science and Religion presents the results of a meeting sponsored by the Vatican Observatory and inspired by its recent devotion to two major new initiatives. In addition to continuing its programs of research in astro- physics, during the past decade the Vatican Observatory has sought to provide (1) scholastic dialogue between science and religion, and (2) education and research in astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology for aspiring young scholars, particularly those from developing countries. The symposium itself was designed to promote dialogue between science and religion among established scholars that would also find a place in the work and lives of such young scholars. The result is this unique contribution to literature that combines presentations of research results by young scientists with discussions on modern topics in the interdisciplinary area of science and religion.

Download or read book Science and Faith in Dialogue written by Frederik van Niekerk and published by AOSIS. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Science and Faith in Dialogue presents a cogent, compelling case for concordance between science and theism. The term theism refers, in this book, to the belief in God's existence. Within theology, the term theism is often used to convey a range of presuppositions about the nature and attributes of God. Based on scientific and natural theological perspectives, two pillars of natural theology are revisited: the Cosmological Argument and the Argument from Design. The book argues that modern science provides undeniable evidence and a scientific basis for these classical arguments to infer a rationally justifiable endorsement of theism as being concordant with reason and science – nature is seen as operating orderly on comprehensible, rational, consistent laws, in line with the conviction that God is Creator.

Download or read book Washington Information Directory 2022 2023 written by CQ Press and published by CQ Press. This book was released on 2022-08-23 with total page 1137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Washington Information Directory (WID) is a "directory," with a unique profile - it is topically organized, and within the taxonomic structure the relevant organizations are listed not only with contact information but with a brief paragraph describing what the organization (whether government or non-governmental) does related to that topic. It focuses on Washington - in order to be listed, an organization must have an office in the Washington metropolitan area. These descriptions are not boilerplate advertising material from the organizations; rather, they are hand-crafted by a talented freelance research team. In addition, WID pulls together 55 organization charts for federal agencies, congressional resources related to each chapter topic, hotline and contact information for various specific areas of interest, and an extensive list of active congressional caucuses and contact details. WID has two appendices, one with thorough information on congresspersons and committees, and the second with governors and embassies.

Download or read book Sir John Templeton written by Robert Herrmann and published by Templeton Foundation Press. This book was released on 2013-11-04 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The biography of the "Wizard of Wall Street" who has dedicated his life to advancing the scientific study of spiritual realities has been revised and updated. Sir John Templeton was an inspiring and motivational force both through his personal example and through the foundation that bears his name and is dedicated to his mission. This volume reviews the life of this man of vision, from his childhood in rural Tennessee, to his education at Yale and Oxford, to his legendary years on Wall Street, the birth of his children, and the development and growth of "humility theology science." Interwoven with the stories and facts are the roots of his faith and the values that he credits for his financial success and are the catalyst for his lifelong mission. Sir John's biography updates the growth of the many and varied programs of the John Templeton Foundation that support this mission. It also introduces some of the scientists, theologians, philosophers, writers, and fellow investors who now serve as staff and advisors to the John Templeton Foundation, striving toward Sir John's goal of one-hundred-fold more spiritual information gained through the application of scientific methodology and analysis.
Download or read book God and the Natural World written by Ted Peters and published by ATF Press. This book was released on 2020-05-01 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays is a fitting tribute to Denis Edwards, who was one of Australia's leading theologians. In exploring the most challenging questions of our time, these essays canvas some of the great themes of Christian theology that were the focus of Edwards research. Denis Edwards was a theologian of dialogue: dialogue with our rich theological tradition, dialogue with science, dialogue with contemporary theologians. The contributors to this volume enter into a dialogue with substantial parts of the theological output of Denis Edwards. In the process, they capture something of his humanity, his love of creation, and his concern for our common home. The book demonstrates the commitment Denis Edwards had to a theology that is truly ecumenical and always learning from the insights of others. The editors and authors have done a great service in helping many others to deepen reflection on Denis Edwards' contribution to our understanding of God and the natural world.
