Book Botanical Art from the Golden Age of Scientific Discovery

Download or read book Botanical Art from the Golden Age of Scientific Discovery written by Anna Laurent and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2016-10-24 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, wall charts were a familiar classroom component, displaying scientific images at a large scale, in full color. But it's only now that they've been superseded as a teaching tool that we have begun to realize something their ubiquity hid: they are stunning examples of botanical art at its finest. This beautifully illustrated oversized book gives the humble wall chart its due, reproducing more than two hundred of them in dazzling full color. Each wall chart is accompanied by captions that offer accessible information about the species featured, the scientists and botanical illustrators who created it, and any particularly interesting or innovative features the chart displays. And gardeners will be pleased to discover useful information about plant anatomy and morphology and species differences. We see lilies and tulips, gourds, aquatic plants, legumes, poisonous plants, and carnivorous plants, all presented in exquisite, larger-than-life detail. A unique fusion of art, science, and education, the wall charts gathered here offer a glimpse into a wonderful scientific heritage and are sure to thrill naturalists, gardeners, and artists alike.

Book Proceedings of the IFIP TC 11 23rd International Information Security Conference

Download or read book Proceedings of the IFIP TC 11 23rd International Information Security Conference written by Sushil Jajodia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-07-30 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings contain the papers selected for presentation at the 23rd Inter- tional Information Security Conference (SEC 2008), co-located with IFIP World Computer Congress (WCC 2008), September 8–10, 2008 in Milan, Italy. In - sponse to the call for papers, 143 papers were submitted to the conference. All - pers were evaluated on the basis of their signi?cance, novelty, and technical quality, and reviewed by at least three members of the program committee. Reviewing was blind meaning that the authors were not told which committee members reviewed which papers. The program committee meeting was held electronically, holding - tensive discussion over a period of three weeks. Of the papers submitted, 42 full papers and 11 short papers were selected for presentation at the conference. A conference like this just does not happen; it depends on the volunteer efforts of a host of individuals. There is a long list of people who volunteered their time and energy to put together the conference and who deserve acknowledgment. We thank all members of the program committee and the external reviewers for their hard work in the paper evaluation. Due to the large number of submissions, p- gram committee members were required to complete their reviews in a short time frame. We are especially thankful to them for the commitment they showed with their active participation in the electronic discussion.

Book Neutrosophic Graph Theory and Algorithms

Download or read book Neutrosophic Graph Theory and Algorithms written by Smarandache, Florentin and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2019-10-25 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graph theory is a specific concept that has numerous applications throughout many industries. Despite the advancement of this technique, graph theory can still yield ambiguous and imprecise results. In order to cut down on these indeterminate factors, neutrosophic logic has emerged as an applicable solution that is gaining significant attention in solving many real-life decision-making problems that involve uncertainty, impreciseness, vagueness, incompleteness, inconsistency, and indeterminacy. However, empirical research on this specific graph set is lacking. Neutrosophic Graph Theory and Algorithms is a collection of innovative research on the methods and applications of neutrosophic sets and logic within various fields including systems analysis, economics, and transportation. While highlighting topics including linear programming, decision-making methods, and homomorphism, this book is ideally designed for programmers, researchers, data scientists, mathematicians, designers, educators, researchers, academicians, and students seeking current research on the various methods and applications of graph theory.

Book Topics in Domination in Graphs

Download or read book Topics in Domination in Graphs written by Teresa W. Haynes and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume comprises 16 contributions that present advanced topics in graph domination, featuring open problems, modern techniques, and recent results. The focus is on primary dominating sets such as paired domination, connected domination, restrained domination, dominating functions, Roman domination, and power domination. Additionally, surveys include known results with a sample of proof techniques for each parameter. Of extra benefit to the reader, the first chapter includes a glossary of commonly used terms; the second chapter provides an overview of models of domination from which the parameters are defined. The book is intended to provide a reference for established researchers in the fields of domination and graph theory and graduate students who wish to gain knowledge of the topics covered as well as an overview of the major accomplishments in the field and proof techniques used.
