Download or read book ESSENTIAL GRAMMAR VOCABULARY AND SPELLINGS FOR IELTS PTE TOEFL written by ASHOK KUMAR and published by Ashok Kumar. This book was released on 2020-11-16 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learning different words becomes essential when someone wants to have mastery over the language, other than one's mother tongue. Specifically, the students who are appearing for IELTS, DUOLINGO, TOEFL, CAE, OET or PTE must know the common and uncommon words of the English language, as a certain percentage of grading depends on the appropriate usage of the lexical resource. As all the words of the English language may be difficult to learn, it is imperative to learn at least 800-1000 words which are important to communicate in the English language. Keeping in view the levels of common students, in the first section, some of the common and uncommon words are presented in different parts with usage and examples to enhance the spelling power and lexical resource of the students. Besides,We usually learn our mother tongue just by listening to others and sometimes by just imitating others’ speaking styles. It is a fact that nobody learns the grammar of his native language. However, to learn any language other than the native language, we need to know the basics of the grammar of that particular language, which we want to learn. Learning the basics of any language becomes essential when someone wants to have mastery over the language. Specifically, the students who are appearing for IELTS, TOEFL, CAE or PTE must know the basics of the English language as a certain percentage of grading depends on the actual usage of grammar. As the whole grammar may be difficult to learn, it is imperative to learn at least the parts of speech, which are important to learn to write and speak correct sentences of the English language. There are eight parts of speech like 1. Noun, 2. Pronoun, 3. Verb, 4. Adverb, 5. Adjective, 6. Preposition, 7. Conjunction, 8. Interjection, but in certain English-speaking countries, nine parts of speech are considered as they include the article as the ninth part. In this book, nine parts of speech, their usage with examples and worksheets with answers for practice are explained systematically. Finally, this book explains how the rules of the basic grammar are used for making sentences of daily and academic use

Book Teaching English as an International Language

Download or read book Teaching English as an International Language written by Roby Marlina and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-08-31 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do teachers inspire students to learn to appreciate different Englishes? Has anyone tried to teach world Englishes? If so, what do they do and how do they feel about it? Most importantly, do students see the benefits in learning about world Englishes? This book responds to these questions by 1) offering a clear and solid foundation for the development of English as an International Language (EIL)-oriented curricula in an English Language program and a teacher education program, 2) critically reviewing the current pedagogical principles and practices of teaching EIL, and 3) offering an alternative way of conceptualising and teaching EIL. Using a three-year undergraduate program of EIL in an Australian university as a research site, this book provides a detailed account of actual classroom practices that raise students’ awareness of world Englishes and engage them in learning how to communicate interculturally. This book is the first of its kind that explores the teaching of EIL in a country where English is a predominant and national language.

Book English as an International Language

Download or read book English as an International Language written by Farzad Sharifian and published by Multilingual Matters. This book was released on 2009-01-08 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapid global spread of the English language has serious linguistic, ideological, socio-cultural, political, and pedagogical implications as it creates both positive interactions and negative tensions between global and local forces. Accordingly, debate about issues such as the native/non-native divide, the politics of an international language, communication in a Lingua Franca, the choice of a model for ELT, and the link between English and identity(ies) has stimulated scholarly inquiry in an unprecedented way. The chapters in this volume revisit, challenge, and expand upon established arguments and positions regarding the politics, policies, pedagogies, and practices of English as an international language, as well as its sociolinguistic and socio-psychological complexities.
