Book The 4th International Conference On Proton Emitting Nuclei And Related Topics

Download or read book The 4th International Conference On Proton Emitting Nuclei And Related Topics written by Bertram Blank and published by American Inst. of Physics. This book was released on 2012-01-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The conference covered a large spectrum of nuclear structure of proton rich nuclei, their production, selection and their decay. The range of subjects went from beta decay of nuclei closer to stability for the study of fundamental interactions, over studies of interest for nuclear astrophysics to the study of the most exotic proton-rich nuclei at the limits of nuclear stability. Beyond experimental and theoretical results on proton-rich nuclei, technical development for future experiments was also exposed.

  • ISBN : 3642796966
  • Pages : 340 pages

Download or read book Atomic and Nuclear Clusters written by G.S. Anagostatos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second International Conference on Atomic and Nuclear Clusters '93 was orga nized in a joint effort by the 'Demokritos' National Center for Scientific Research, G. S. Anagnostatos (representing the atomic physics) and the Hahn-Meitner-Institut, W. von Oertzen (representing the nuclear physics). The subject of clusters - small aggregates of particles - is a topic of primary interest in both atomic and nuclear physics, and also in other fields like in the case of quark-structure of baryons and in cosmology. The interplay between atomic and nuclear physics is a particularly fascinating one because many concepts are common to both fields (quantal effects, shells, geometric structures, collective modes, fission etc. ) This conference was the second after the first one organized by Professor M. Brenner in Abo (Finland) in 1991. The general atmosphere of a joint forum for atomic and nuclear physicists was very fruitful and thus the decision to have a sequence of such meetings has been taken. A third one is planned in St. Petersburg (Russia) with Professor K. Gridnev (St. Petersburg) and Mme. Professor C. Bnkhignac (Orsay) as Chairpersons. The conference site, Fin\. on Santorini island (Greece), was a wonderful choice for a conference. It is small, which helps to keep people concentrated in a smaller community, it has a perfect convention center, the P. Nomikos Conference Center, and a very beautiful landscape formed by a large volcanic crater.

These conference proceedings focus on developments in the area, & particularly on the nuclear physics of the synthesis of the elements in the early stages of the universe.

Book Nuclear Physics of Stars

    Book Details:
  • Author : Christian Iliadis
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2015-06-29
  • ISBN : 3527336486
  • Pages : 675 pages

Download or read book Nuclear Physics of Stars written by Christian Iliadis and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-06-29 with total page 675 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most elements are synthesized, or "cooked", by thermonuclear reactions in stars. The newly formed elements are released into the interstellar medium during a star's lifetime, and are subsequently incorporated into a new generation of stars, into the planets that form around the stars, and into the life forms that originate on the planets. Moreover, the energy we depend on for life originates from nuclear reactions that occur at the center of the Sun. Synthesis of the elements and nuclear energy production in stars are the topics of nuclear astrophysics, which is the subject of this book. It presents nuclear structure and reactions, thermonuclear reaction rates, experimental nuclear methods, and nucleosynthesis in detail. These topics are discussed in a coherent way, enabling the reader to grasp their interconnections intuitively. The book serves both as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, with worked examples and end-of-chapter excercises, but also as a reference book for use by researchers working in the field of nuclear astrophysics.

Book Exotic Nuclei and Nuclear Particle Astrophysics IV From Nuclei to Stars

Download or read book Exotic Nuclei and Nuclear Particle Astrophysics IV From Nuclei to Stars written by Livius Trache and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2012-12-20 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The conferences in the Carpathians are called by tradition ‘schools’, but are a combination of a school and a conference with invited talks and communications. This was the 24th Carpathian summer school in physics, a tradition since 1964, and the 4th with the current title. Its main objectives are:To educate new generations of specialists in the field of nuclear structure and reactions, of nuclear astrophysics and astroparticles. -To help disseminate and discuss the latest developments in the fields of interest among the participants, to facilitate interactions across field boundaries. -The mixed character school-conference is meant to facilitate the contacts between generations of scientists. -To create conditions of direct contacts between best specialists in the above fields and the local researchers, in particular from Romania.
