Book External and Internal Locus Control Community and Individuality

Download or read book External and Internal Locus Control Community and Individuality written by Tijuana Canders and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2020-10-13 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Academic Paper from the year 2020 in the subject Psychology - Social Psychology, Walden University (Department of Psychology), language: English, abstract: This paper will provide an integrated review of literature. Common themes and different views about the topic 'Locus Control - Community and Individuality' will be compared based on narrative theory views of different authors. It will be analysed what they have to say about an individual's problem-solving skills, critical thinking through self-identity, altruism, and recognition of environmental influences through the act of using locus of control individually and within community. Learn-oriented situations are created for the purpose of learning strategies to guide learners in the achievement of internal locus of control and external locus of control. Social research requires the analyzation of community and qualitative or quantitative methods to develop transformative social change. When comparing different authors beliefs, there are some similarities, but they differ along a continuum of factors. These factors range from the use of technology to simplistic strategies derived from learned precepts and concepts of interaction, that are learned through environmental and role stimulation or acquired through parental and social interactions. Such known causes of effects influence or alter how individuals view relationships in community and if they are drawn to receive their potential from external influences (External Locus Control) or from their own concrete view of life from their inward persona in order to make sound and just decisions (Internal Locus Control). Locus control is vital for how a person develops further throughout life. It is just as pertinent to consider that both external locus control and internal locus control are needed at different stages in life to strengthen community and individuality.

Book Research with the Locus of Control Construct

Download or read book Research with the Locus of Control Construct written by Herbert M. Lefcourt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-02 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research with the Locus of Control Construct, Volume 3: Extensions and Limitations presents the extensions of use of the locus of control construct into areas far removed from the purview of the construct's originators and limitations of that usage. This book is divided into two parts. Part I describes the large number of investigations that have been conducted in each of three psychological domains—industrial psychology, psychophysiology, and cross-cultural psychology. Part II examines the question of the circumstances under which locus of control is a useful construct. This volume is recommended for psychologists and medical practitioners concerned with the locus of control contract.

Book The Relationship of Locus of Control to Career Development in College Engineering Students

Download or read book The Relationship of Locus of Control to Career Development in College Engineering Students written by Cynthia A. Flynn and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between career development and locus of control as they relate to barriers encountered in career development. The sample included 144 students in the engineering program at Oregon State University. The Rotter Internal- External Scale and the Career Development Inventory (Form CU) were employed. Analyses included the use of multiple regression models. Correlations were performed to build a table of relationships between variables. Two-way analyses of variance provided information on the relationships and interactive effects between scale scores and demographic variables. Based on the results of the study, the following conclusions were reached: 1. Males' scores rose from the pre-professional to the professional level on all scales of the career development measure. Females' scores on attitude scales rose between the levels; however, there were significant decreases in females' performance on scales measuring knowledge about careers and about their chosen career. 2. There were no significant differences in grade-point average among the four subsamples defined by sex and level. 3. Locus of control predicted career development in professional-level males but not among the other groups. 4. Professional-level females showed an inverse relationship between knowledge about their career field and attitude toward careers. They also showed an inverse relationship between grade-point average and knowledge about their career field. This may indicate difficulties related to the women's non-traditional status. Theoretical implications of the study were discussed and include development of an alternate model for predicting students' subseguent career decisions.
