Fachhochschule Landshut, Veranstaltung: Interkulturelles Management, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In den letzten Jahrzehnten haben viele Entwicklungen stark dazu beigetragen, dass sich die verschiedenen Kulturen unseres Planeten zunehmend vermischen bzw. „aufeinander treffen“. Man denke nur an Schlagworte wie „Globalisierung“, „Multikulturalisierung“ oder auch „Völkerbund“. Auch der mittlerweile weltweite Tourismus, die Entstehung von immer größeren multinationalen Großkonzernen, die immer günstiger werdenden Transportkosten im Personenverkehr und andere Entwicklungen sind in diesem Zuge zu nennen. Immer öfter treffen Menschen verschiedener Kulturen, sei es geschäftlich, aus offiziellen Anlässen oder aus privaten Gründen aufeinander. Dabei kommt es häufig mangels Informationen, Vorbereitung oder auch nur auf Grund von einfachem „Nicht-Wissen“ zu Situationen, die, durch den unterschiedlichen kulturellen Background hervorgerufen, Konflikte, Enttäuschungen, negative Erfahrungen, etc. verursachen. Vor allem bei geschäftlichen Anlässen kann dies unangenehme (oft finanzielle) Folgen haben. Im Harvard Business Manager war Anfang dieses Jahres zu lesen: "Weil Ford den Posten des China-Chefs falsch besetzte, verlor der Konzern gegenüber der Konkurrenz 5 Jahre" Deshalb gibt es heute verschiedene Anbieter für so genannte „interkulturelle Trainings“, die ihre Kunden auf entsprechende Situationen vorbereiten. Wie und was in diesen Trainings ablaufen kann bzw. soll, ist Inhalt dieser Arbeit. Um einen möglichst praxisnahen Bezug herzustellen greife ich im Besonderen auf die Informationen und Inhalte des IFIM (Institut für interkulturelles Management) und des IKUD (Institut für Interkulturelle Didaktik e.V.) zurück. Zu Beginn möchte ich zunächst den Begriff „Kultur“ definieren, für den es zahlreiche Definitionen gibt. Ich greife hier diejenigen heraus, die mir am anschaulichsten und für mein Thema am sinnvollsten erscheinen.

It is estimated that there are now up to one hundred thousand German converts—a number similar to that in France and the United Kingdom. Being German, Becoming Muslim explores how Germans come to Islam within this antagonistic climate, how they manage to balance their love for Islam with their society's fear of it, how they relate to immigrant Muslims, and how they shape debates about race, religion, and belonging in today’s Europe. Esra Özyürek looks at how mainstream society marginalizes converts and questions their national loyalties.
