Book Interfaces in High Tc Superconducting Systems

Download or read book Interfaces in High Tc Superconducting Systems written by Subhash L. Shinde and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because the new high-temperature superconductors cannot be grown as large single crystals, interfaces and junctions play an important role in their properties. The chapters in this book, each by leading researchers in the field, examine the state of our understanding of such interfaces. Chapters cover such topics as studies of YCBO films by transmission-electron, scanning-tunneling, and atomic-force microscopy; microstructure, interfacial interactions, and twin boundary structures in YCBO films; grain-boundary Josephson junctions; and overlayer formation.

Book High Temperature Interface Superconductivity

Download or read book High Temperature Interface Superconductivity written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-Tc superconductivity at interfaces has a history of more than a couple of decades. In this review we focus our attention on copper-oxide based heterostructures and multi-layers. We first discuss the technique, atomic layer-by-layer molecular beam epitaxy (ALL-MBE) engineering, that enabled High-Tc Interface Superconductivity (HT-IS), and the challenges associated with the realization of high quality interfaces. Then we turn our attention to the experiments which shed light on the structure and properties of interfacial layers, allowing comparison to those of single-phase films and bulk crystals. Both 'passive' hetero-structures as well as surface-induced effects by external gating are discussed. Here, we conclude by comparing HT-IS in cuprates and in other classes of materials, especially Fe-based superconductors, and by examining the grand challenges currently laying ahead for the field.

This book was released on 1997 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardbound. The four day EMRS Spring Meeting in Strasbourg, France (June 4 -7 1996) Symposium on High Temperature Superconductor Thin Films: Growth Mechanisms - Interfaces - Multilayers was held in conjunction with the Third Workshop in Europe. The benefit of including the Workshop into the Symposium was the advantage of bringing in an additional far larger and disciplinarily more diverse audience and through the organization of the workshop receiving invited and contributed lectures as well as posters which was supplemental to the main Symposium. The Symposium focused on the specific topics of growth interfaces and multilayers and highlighted the continuing need for there to be active interplay between chemists designing new precursor molecules and depositing thin films, and engineers applying HTS materials with deficiencies and limitations to commercially oriented devices. The majority of papers presented at the Symposium are included in these pro

Book High Tc Superconductors

Download or read book High Tc Superconductors written by J. Dumas and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1993-05-05 with total page 763 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A wide range of progress in materials development [single crystals, ceramics, thin films, wire and tapes] is reported in the 169 papers in this volume. The main focus of the papers is in attaining a better understanding of the relationship between microstructure and electrical properties. Invited papers cover topics such as the effects of substitution and doping; multilayers; nanostructure characterisation; electric field effects in High Tc Superconductors [HTS]; surface stability; critical currents; flux pinning and magnetooptic imaging of flux patterns; effects of irradiation induced defects; properties and preparation of materials; microwave properties and electronic devices. A clearly broadened basis for understanding processes and mechanisms in [HTS] is portrayed. Appreciable progress has been achieved in the reproducible manufacturing of high quality materials supported by very efficient methods in microstructural analysis. This essential improvement is reflected in the increased number of practical devices encouraging the use of HTS in applications for electronics and power engineering, all of which are reviewed in depth in this work.

Book Multicomponent and Multilayered Thin Films for Advanced Microtechnologies Techniques Fundamentals and Devices

Download or read book Multicomponent and Multilayered Thin Films for Advanced Microtechnologies Techniques Fundamentals and Devices written by O. Auciello and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The synthesis of multicomponent/multilayered superconducting, conducting, semiconducting and insulating thin films has become the subject of an intensive, worldwide, interdisciplinary research effort. The development of deposition-characterization techniques and the science and technology related to the synthesis of these films are critical for the successful evolution of this interdisciplinary field of research and the implementation of the new materials in a whole new generation of advanced microdevices. This book contains the lectures and contributed papers on various scientific and technological aspects of multicomponent and multilayered thin films presented at a NATO/ASI. Compared to other recent books on thin films, the distinctive character of this book is the interdisciplinary treatment of the various fields of research related to the different thin film materials mentioned above. The wide range of topics discussed in this book include vacuum-deposition techniques, synthesis-processing, characterization, and devices of multicomponent/multilayered oxide high temperature superconducting, ferroelectric, electro-optic, optical, metallic, silicide, and compound semiconductor thin films. The book presents an unusual intedisciplinary exchange of ideas between researchers with cross-disciplinary backgrounds and it will be useful to established investigators as well as postdoctoral and graduate students.

Book Microstructure and Properties of High Temperature Superconductors

Download or read book Microstructure and Properties of High Temperature Superconductors written by I. A. Parinov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-01-22 with total page 788 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main features of high-temperature superconductors (HTSC) that define their properties are intrinsic brittleness of oxide cuprates, the layered anisotropic structure and the supershort coherence length. Taking into account these features, this treatise presents research into HTSC microstructure and properties, and also explores the possibilities of optimization of the preparation techniques and superconducting compositions. The "composition-technique-experiment-theory-model," employed here, assumes considerable HTSC defectiveness and structure heterogeneity and helps to draw a comprehensive picture of modern representations of the microstructure, strength and the related structure-sensitive properties of the materials considered. Special attention is devoted to the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O and Y-Ba-Cu-O families, which currently offer the most promising applications. Including a great number of illustrations and references, this monograph addresses students, post-graduate students and specialists, taking part in the development, preparation and research of new materials. The new edition had been updated intensively, especially experimental investigations and modeling conductive and elastic properties of HTC superconductors have been added.
