Book Manufacturing Simulation with Plant Simulation and Simtalk

Download or read book Manufacturing Simulation with Plant Simulation and Simtalk written by Steffen Bangsow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-29 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the competition of international production networks, the pressure to - crease the efficiency of production systems has increased significantly. In ad- tion, the number of technical components in many products and as a consequence also the requirements for corresponding assembly processes and logistics pr- esses increases. International logistics networks require corresponding logistics concepts. These requirements can be managed only by using appropriate Digital Factory tools in the context of a product lifecycle management environment, which allows reusing data, supports an effective cooperation between different departments, and provides up-to-date and relevant data to every user who needs it. Simulating the complete material flow including all relevant production, st- age, and transport activities is recognized as a key component of the Digital F- tory in the industry and as of today widely used and accepted. Cutting inventory and throughput time by 20–60% and enhancing the productivity of existing p- duction facilities by 15–20% can be achieved in real-life projects.

Book Process Simulation Using WITNESS

Download or read book Process Simulation Using WITNESS written by Raid Al-Aomar and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-08-11 with total page 591 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teaches basic and advanced modeling and simulation techniques to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and serves as a practical guide and manual for professionals learning how to build simulation models using WITNESS, a free-standing software package. This book discusses the theory behind simulation and demonstrates how to build simulation models with WITNESS. The book begins with an explanation of the concepts of simulation modeling and a “guided tour” of the WITNESS modeling environment. Next, the authors cover the basics of building simulation models using WITNESS and modeling of material-handling systems. After taking a brief tour in basic probability and statistics, simulation model input analysis is then examined in detail, including the importance and techniques of fitting closed-form distributions to observed data. Next, the authors present simulation output analysis including determining run controls and statistical analysis of simulation outputs and show how to use these techniques and others to undertake simulation model verification and validation. Effective techniques for managing a simulation project are analyzed, and case studies exemplifying the use of simulation in manufacturing and services are covered. Simulation-based optimization methods and the use of simulation to build and enhance lean systems are then discussed. Finally, the authors examine the interrelationships and synergy between simulation and Six Sigma. Emphasizes real-world applications of simulation modeling in both services and manufacturing sectors Discusses the role of simulation in Six Sigma projects and Lean Systems Contains examples in each chapter on the methods and concepts presented Process Simulation Using WITNESS is a resource for students, researchers, engineers, management consultants, and simulation trainers.

Book Handbook of Processes and Modeling in the Soil Plant System

Download or read book Handbook of Processes and Modeling in the Soil Plant System written by Rolf Nieder and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-09-15 with total page 800 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn to create and use simulation models—the most reliable and cost-effective tools for predicting real-world results! The Handbook of Processes and Modeling in the Soil-Plant System is the first book to present a holistic view of the processes within the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum. Unlike other publications, which tend to be more specialized, this book covers nearly all of the processes in the soil-plant system, including the fundamental processes of soil formation, degradation, and the dynamics of water and matter. It also illustrates how simulation modeling can be used to understand and forecast multiple interactions among various processes and predict their environmental impact. This unique volume assembles information that until now was scattered among journals, bulletins, reports, and symposia proceedings to present models that simulate almost all of the processes occurring in the soil-plant system and explores the results that these models are capable of producing. With chapters authored by experts with years of research and teaching experience, the Handbook of Processes and Modeling in the Soil-Plant System examines: physical, chemical, and biological soil processes the soil formation and weathering process and its modeling the impact of radioactive fallout on the soil-plant system soil degradation processes and ways to control them water and matter dynamics in the soil-plant system growth and development of crops at various levels of production the potentials and limitations of using simulation models Students, educators, and professionals alike will find the Handbook of Processes and Modeling in the Soil-Plant System an invaluable reference on the soil-plant-atmosphere system and an ideal tool to help develop an effective decision support system.
